UPDATE
The designer is now on UA-cam at @Chizz_photography will be posting how to make video soon
For those that can access Facebook, here are the links to ebay for materials

Great, this is something that will prove very useful. Would it be possible showing the materials used and the process used in making it?
Ill check with the designer and if hes ok Ill make a video
@@ukwildlife Much appreciated thank you
@@moeniebroberts Ive added Links to the description to ebay for materials
Thank you
Superb design and video. Many thanks. The prices of many ready-made "commercial" diffusers are nothing short of ludicrous.
Thanks, yes I decided to try make my own when I saw Chizz_photography 's design as they ones I saw for sale were quite expensive, though they are custom made TBF
… and here, I’ve stolen me wife’s shear brassiere and a’fixed those cups to me Godox flash….
Hi Neil, when we spoke lately I told you about a foil in a diffuser and a lens filter. Of course, it wasn't UV, as I said, but polarising. When matched properly, reduce reflections on a chitine. Tom
Nicely Done. I don't use Facebook etc. Any chance of providing a link to the Materials required and layout of the design, How much would you estimate the material cost, approx? Keep up the splendid work.
Ill check with the designer and if hes ok Ill make a video.
With all the postage, plastic, plastic popper tool, and silver tape it was about £40 i think and i have enough for a 2nd one and loads of tape and popper left over
The designer will be recording the next diffuser he makes and Ill share the link when he posts it!
@@ukwildlife Sounds like a bargain !
Thanks for giving the diffuser a go Neil, great video i will do a video of the build soon along with the slightly smaller version 👍
Excellent news
Thanks, I will find your channel and look out for the video.
Edit, could not find a youtube channel "chizz797" could you please post link to where you host your videos
I wonder where this material could be found other than ebay...
could u share the pdf here ?
Adorable homemade flash diffuser for insect macro photography. In the following video, you can show how to make it. Thanks. I'm a new friend here from Singapore. 🔔👍
@Chizz_photography who is the designer, will be adding a video with that info soon!
do you have an outline we could print and also where did you get the plastic?
There's a link to the template on the Facebook link jve shared in the description.
All the materials are available on ebay and similar websites. I go through the diffuser in more detail in this video

Thankyou Sir, I like that! I am just getting into macro, as I spend a fair bit of time on the patio making things and looking @ garden and seeing the wonderful thing that inhabit it I thought I'd get my camera out and try capture some of them. Big learning curve! So a thankyou Sir to you and James for your contribution to this endeavor. TFS, GB :)
Thanks and good luck with your new Macro photography adventure! :)
Can some one share the template pdf? I don't have access to Facebook and admins are not allowing newly created accounts
I would , but its not mine to share. I will share my design template when I finish it however!
Is there anywhere else to get the plans? I've tried twice to join the group and been denied - no idea why.
Not yet, sadly they are not mine to share or I would do. I know the designer was planning a to share them with a video
did you have a project with measurements etc?
Theres a link to the template etc in the description :)
The Nun hat diffuser!
haha indeed!
I feel like the two dome difusers might be better replaced by a thin bra 😂
haha I cut the bit about my colleagues referring to it as the "bra diffuser" when they first saw it!
Can you provide direct link to blueprint for the last diffuser? Thank you.
@Chizz_photography who is the designer, will be adding a video with that info soon!
I'm trying to make this diffuser at the moment but not having much success, was trying to figure out the shape of it at the back that goes over the flash, it does not sit well, and my material I used I think is too thick cant see a shot selling suitable material for the diffusion bit, I've a Sony camera with a Venus Optics 85mm 5.6 2:1 lens with a godox v860 flash, so the setup has the flash too high and the lens is ultra short and sits level with the end of the flash so ended up with a mess and gave up.
If you are on facebook, its worth visiting the group as @chizz797 who designed it has a list of materials from shops on ebay, and tehre are other designs on there too which might suit your set up. He will be posting some videos on his UA-cam channel too :)
I have the GH5. Do you notice a difference between the OM camera?
Ive not really done too many stills with my GH5 as I bought the Olympus/OM cameras for that. I did use it for stills when my old Olympus was being repaired for a couple of weeks.
I did find the GH5 Autofocus is worse and I prefer the stacking/focus bracketing on the Olympus cameras too, but I have got some good stacks with GH5
Ive not used the the GH5 with this diffuser at all so I cant comment on that
I don't do facebook, is there another place to get the template?
@Chizz_photography who is the designer, will be adding a video with that info soon!
Where did you get the plastic sheeting from?? Nice video
Ebay. Search for "A3 Coloured Polypropylene Plastic Sheet 0.5mm "
Is there anyway to access this information without a facebook account ?
Perhaps it would be possible to host the files somewhere else ?
The designer will be posting a how to video in the near future, they are not mine to host/share
Looks like a great piece of homemade kit. A diffuser is the one thing I don't have for my macro photography, so will most definitely look into making one.
Brilliant video.
Its been working well the last few weeks
Great video! Thanks very much.nnI was wondering if the template of the diffuser could be shared somewhere else for people who does not use facebook?
I would, but its not mine design to share. It's probably best to ask the designer, who' I've linked to in the description :)
An interesting video, been trying to make diffusers for awhile now. Biggest problems is where to purchase nice diffusion material like you have used.
Could you please post a link to where you purchased your materials including those fasteners.
I am not a facebook member yet so cant view that site, but may join so I can.
@chizz797 is your man, he designed it, give him a follow and Im sure all the info will be on his videos
@@ukwildlife
Does he have a youtube channel to host his videos? Or do I have to follow him on face book? sorry never used facebook, and could not find him on youtube
Ive just changed the name to @Chizz_photography
Brilliant. Great job mate.I do love a bit of good Heath-Robinson. And by "good" I don't mean your camera brassiere which rather made me chuckle! 😆 Nicely put together review and demo with great example shots and explanations. Nice one Neil. All the best, Graham. 👍🙂👍
Yes it was christen the Bra camera by a few colleagues when they saw it! I actually mentioned it in one clip that didnt make the cut!
Thanks :)
Thanks for the material links will order some tonight, and update on the new youtube channel.
I will watch out for it, does not seem to be live yet.
Added your channel to my list as well
Awesome, thank you!
"I'm afraid it's in a bit if a state."... The understatement of the year😅. (I've got a few of those too 😉)
Literally been moved around for a year or so slowly falling apart and neglected, having already been damaged in use, poor old diffuser! lol
when i make diffusers for myself, i use cardstock and clips because that is so inexpensive, i can test out a number of shapes and easily alter them with scissors and tape. if one is promising, i will put packing tape on the back to weatherproof and strengthen it so i can try it outside. Still looking for better diffusion material than i have, but this may help anyone commenting on difficulties in designing their own ✌️
Great tip!
Presumably bouncing your flash off a bit of A4 paper is not good enough 😅
I actually thought you were going to show us how you made it. What materials you used etc. 😃
I talk through how it goes together and what its made off in the next video in the description
Ive now edited the description to make it more clear, this is the link, not sure they work in comments?
ua-cam.com/video/fPvfmI40jbE/v-deo.html
What is it made off? Particularly that front white part?
Have you tried the night vision setting on the OM-1 to help with the focusing difficulties?
Yes I have that mode on, but its still just not quite bright enough, but I might dive into the settings to see if I can tweek it or the Peaking sensitivity. Thanks
The designer will be recording the next diffuser he makes and Ill share the link when he posts it!
I just made one using the template provided by James. Thanks for the link ❤
Can't wait to try it out....
Excellent, mine has worked great this summer
Can you share the drive link or something, i dont have access to fb
hi, what materials did you use to make the diffuser? and the press studs, where did you find them? Thanks
The diffuser designers is publishing a full break down on his yourube page here:
ua-cam.com/video/jfmpmiT60Jw/v-deo.html
@@ukwildlife I'have seen it. But i don't know where to buy the materials with automatic buttons....
@@maxcerruti447 should all be in the link to the Facebook Post. It's all available on eBay
@@ukwildlife Thanks!
I'm grateful for you sharing this kit and how it works. Thanks so much for providing links to plans and materials! Well done. :)
You are welcome! Most the credit should be to the designer to be fair though :)
What camera do you suggest for macro photography? Thanks in advance!
Depends on personal preference and few other thing. I use the OM-1 as it has 2x crop factor and great image stabilisation, but TBH any of the digital camera bodies paired with a decent 90/100mm macro lens (or longer) will be good for insects. Some top macro photographers are using cameras that are 10years old!
Great video but you mentioned you included a link to find the materials to make this defused however I followed the link but couldn’t find any mention of where to find the materials😏
Thanks. Ive put ebay links at the end of the description. Do they work when you click them, seem to be working when I click them?
I talk more about how its put together/what is made of in the video linked below and you can search for the materials on ebay or similar sites
ua-cam.com/video/fPvfmI40jbE/v-deo.htmlsi=uzejZdQ5V9p7cqxU
Excellent diffuser. I am also making my own mini diffusers, but not happy with the white plastic sheets I am using. I will appreciate it if you could tell me the source of the white plastic diffuser sheets you are using.
There are links to ebay on the facebook post I linked to in the description :)
For the focus peaking issue, some flash units have a 'modeling' setting where they stay on at a lower intensity like a flashlight, that could be useful
Ah thats a good point. I shall loo into that. Some have an LEB modelling light on the flash body too, but It have to modify the diffuse to accommodate it, but that could work too
@@ukwildlife The nice thing about my Godox V1 is that the modeling light is the same as the flash, so there's nothing to really modify on the diffuser
@@AlexanderRay92 I shall check that model out - I had a very bad experience with their customer service, so bi reluctant to buy more Godox products Though, but no harm in looking :)
Great video!
I am still looking forward to the how-to-make the diffuser.
On the page off matt Cole there is this type off diffuser not shown.
Head to @chizz photography youtube page ive also linked too, he has posted a video
Do you know if there is an appreciable difference between lining the black plastic with white vs foil?
I can't claim to have tested it. I guess in theory the silver reflects more, but with TTL I guess the flash would just compensate, so only would make a difference if you reached the limit of the flash power or needed faster recharge times
Hi
How did you manage to get the 90mm macro lens ?
Can’t get anywhere
Preordered on day of announcement, still had to wait a month after the launch date!
Great video and diffuser. Can you tell me where you got the hood material and the popper studs.
Ive added Links to the description to ebay for materials
Any heads up when the video how to make this will be released?
No sure when Chizz Photography will release his, but I'm working on one for my design, hopefully it will be out in a month or 2
It did run through the design and how it is put together in this video too which may be of interest ua-cam.com/video/fPvfmI40jbE/v-deo.htmlsi=kdPdOiqZUr0CEWkY
@@ukwildlife thank you for the promt reply, maybe you could just share the one in the video. i am not sure how to do it but maybe a draw with measurements, where to put what etc. i have the materials i just don't know the messuremts. (after few tries it did not go well)
will wait for your release, chizz photography not around from the looks of his channel. (no news about this what so ever).
talking about your achievement is nice and well done and you are the great person on earth .....
But how in the Gods name did you do it ?
you mentioned in your subject it is homemade .... how did you cut it? how did you design it?
isn't this obvious?
The designer will be posting a how too video so I didnt cover that as I didnt want to take credit for his design
Not gonna lie looks like you copied the popeshield diffusser.
Its one of the best designs, even if he did id rather save the money and make my own too
I have been watching the at @Chizz_photography youtube channel and only the original video has been posted no follow up on the making of the diffuser.
I am not a facebook user so cant get the templates for the diffuser.
Do you know if the templates are hosted anywhere apart from facebook? As I am still keen to make one
I think @chizz_photogrpahy is aware and will be posting them on here as soon as he can, but last I heard he's rather busy unfortunately
@@ukwildlife
Thanks I will keep an eye out for them
Can you put a link to the instructions in the video discription?
I have been trying to get a pattern to make one, but I can't. Your link, @Chizz_photography, doesn't work.
@chizz_photogprahy will be posting a video on how to make the diffuser, its his design so I didnt want to steal credit and dont have the rights to his design to be able to share them. There are links on the facebook post I linked to
