sooooooo helpful!!
Thanks Mauricio, glad you liked it 👏📷😊
Wicked little review. I have little room on my bag at the moment and the silver and white at under a fiver will do for me! Brilliant. Thanks again!
That was a most enjoyable video. So much so, I subbed. Test results were very informative. Looking forward to more content. Cheers
Thank you for those very kind words, you are most welcome. I’m trying to cover everything from beginner to advanced but if there is anything you’d like to see covered just leave a comment and I’ll do my best. Hope you enjoy watching, 📷👍🏻😀
I started using the "winner" several years ago while shooting pics of community (55+) events that were held indoors (dinners, parties etc.) and found that it worked. I didn't really try the silver side much and will have to try it. I've also tried the small softboxes but they are so difficult to fit on smaller flashes used with my micro 4/3 camera bodies. So, I'll be happy to continue using and doing some tests with the inexpensive winner. Thanks for posting a really useful review!
The simple options are always the best! Thank you for this, Riley :D
Thank you Stefhany, I’m glad you found it useful 📷👏😊
This was great. Now we need to see something similar for outdoor shooting. The best ones from this set are using the walls to reflect the light. That doesn't work in wide open spaces. I'd love to see the exact same comparison under those conditions!
EDIT: Nevermind! I just found your outdoor video! Sweet! :)
Haha, great minds think alike, - get ready, the outdoor test throws a curve ball at the results!! Thanks for watching and commenting 👏📷😊
Thank you so much for this video! this really helped me out
Brilliant, honest review! Just what I was looking for! Thank you.
Thank you Al, I’m glad you found it helpful, thanks for watching 👏📷😊
My goodness. You are a gem! I can’t believe I only discovered your channel today. The paper trick really works!! I used it today and I had to do a dance afterwards.
Thank you so much.
Your videos are so lovely and such a joy to watch.
Haha, you’ve made my day, thank you. I love the thought of a photographers dance to celebrate a good photo. I’m going to try that myself. I have been wondering what kind of video to make going forward and you’ve made me think, what about some of the tricks and cheats we use on jobs to achieve the look we want when we don’t have all the equipment with us. Thank you for that, cheers Phil 😊
the best clip!! , i has decision to choose item , thank you man!!
Very useful information, I learned so much about all these types of diffusers. Thank you for sharing!
You’re very welcome Carlos, thank you for watching 📷😊
Thank you so much for your great vidéo and test ! Great ! Perfect ! 😍
Concise and very clear. Brilliant !
Thank you for that very kind comment and thanks for watching 📷😊
Great job on this video mate! Straight forward and informative
Thanks Brad, I appreciate that 👏📷😊
That was pretty much best video on flash diffusers on youtube. Thank you!
Thank you for that lovely comment, you have made my day 😊
Really helpful, succinct advice with pros and cons for a number of different diffusers. This helped me to think through which options would work best for me. Thank you!
Thank you 😊
you covered every single flash diffuser . and also included samples . thank you!
Thank you Leslie for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it 👏📷😊
Indeed very helpful!! and very important as well TO THE POINT!!!! Thank you so much for your advice!!!!
Manuel you are most welcome, and I’m glad you found the video useful, thank you for your kind comments, and thank you for watching, it’s much appreciated 👏😊
your video is pure gold, thats what i was looking for, thank you sir!
Glad it helped!
For the size - the softbox diffuser - the first tested was most surprising to me. Easiest looking to transport.
Great review, thank you so much.
Good video, thanks! You saved me a lot of time ordering different things 😊
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching Chris 👍🏻
A really good review, thank you sir
So very fluent. Thankx for this nice video.
Thank you Jacob, that’s very kind of you to say so, I really appreciate it, cheers 👍🏻📷😊
"and remember: there are no rules in photography." !!!!!!!
Obrigado por sua demonstração dos difusores de luz... eu estava com muitas duvidas a respeito mas seu video foi muito claro e explicativo. Você ganhou um fã.
obrigado por seus comentários gentis
just what i needed, the fabric one is the one ill probably get.
Hey thats great, glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching
Thank you for the test. It helps!
You're welcome!
Video was very useful. Will definitely be buying the reflector because of this
Glad it was helpful!
WOW!!!
Thank you for this video, I'm going to get me the one you rated 10/10 sliver and white, and the softbox.
Thank you for those kind comments, I’ve just repeated the test with the same diffusers outdoors, very interesting results! It’ll be posted on my channel in the next few weeks 👏📷😊
It is funny. I have a large diffuser, an octabox. I always bring someone to help me, but the week before I went to a session alone, I took the octabox, but I ended up using, the winner of your video. I had it stored on my desk, unused, thinking it was useless. I took this diffuser (the silver one) and it has helped me a lot. I can't believe I had it saved as a barusa without knowing what it was going to do for me. In lightroom, I make small corrections. Thanks for the video.
You’re welcome, I’m glad you found the Video useful and even better news, the winning diffuser came to help you out on a job. That’s great news! Thanks for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it 👏📷😊
You just saved me so much money and time thank you!
You’re welcome 📷😊
I always keep a white shower curtain and a roll of gaffer tape in my bag - I've got some really nice results with it as a reflector or diffuser. Handy for diffusing strong sunlight coming thru a window too.
Simon what a great tip, large diffusers can be so expensive, and finding something big enough to diffuse sunlight in portraits when you’re on a budget is hard. This is the answer, brilliant. I’m going to order one and try it out. Thanks so much for that super hack, can’t wait to try it. 👏📷😊
Thanks for sharing! Totally agree!
I’m glad you liked the video John, thanks for watching 👍🏻📷😀
Lovely video , interesting straight to the point.
👍
Thank you 😊
GREAT vid! You nailed the addage that the best solution is not always the most expensive one. I have the silicone Fong and it is pretty good. However I have had just about as much luck with results by using a doubled sheet of trace paper and rubber band...ha. keep up the great content!
Thank you, a sheet of A4 paper makes a great diffuser doesn’t it, haha, I love stuff like that 😁
What a super informative video 👏🏽
Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for your reviews. Is just ordered myself one of the reflector top diffuser hop it will also work for macro shots.
You’re most welcome and thank you for watching, have fun with the diffuser 👏📷
Nice video! I like the Lens Mount because it's good for closeup photography. I had no idea that there were so many flash diffusers, LOL!
Thank you for your lovely comments. I must try the lens mount diffuser for macro, that’s a good idea. And thank you for watching too, I really appreciate it 👏📷😊
Best diffuser video on youtube by far.
Thank you, I really appreciate that 😊📷
Hi Riley.
I would buy the simple one and affordable diffuser you shown at the end.
REMARKABLE... 👍🏼
Thanks for your advices!!!!!!
Good choice!
Awesome! Literally tested all the options I have been looking at! From the cheap ebay options that seem like they might do the job to the expensive well known ones too!
Glad it was helpful, thank you for watching 👏📷😊
Yes, I have tried most of the above except the 'Light Sphere and Clear Universal'. (2wks prior) to watching this video, I decided to buy the Flat Reflector as a last resort...The results were great.
Now, I feel in full control whenever I do a photo session. 📸 😊✔️
Excellent! I’m glad you like it, thank you for watching 👏👏👏
Thanks for this straight forward comparison! That's exactly the type of content I'm looking for when trying to learn about gear. Also happy to see I already have one 8/10 option living in my backpack!
Thank you for those great comments Matthies, I’m glad the review was useful. Some viewers have asked for a review using these diffusers outdoors, which I intend to film as soon as the sun comes out!! Thanks for watching, 👏📷😊
@@rileyphotos looks like I'll better subscribe and ring the bell so I won't miss out on that!=)
Haha, I know, It seems mandatory to say that stuff on UA-cam - so funny everyone saying the same “like and subscribe” and “don’t forget to hit that bell 🔔” haha, 👍🏻
Very helpful, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much this was very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! I just bought the silver and white fan.
Nice one Jerrod, enjoy, it’s a great bit of kit 👏📷😊
The one at 4:58 is the one I plant to get, impressed with it's results, and nice and easy to carry in field! In fact I plant on getting two of those, and using both at the same time, one for diffusing, one for deflecting.
Great video! Thank you very much! I think I’ll just use the standard diffuser that comes with the flash and just bounce it from the ceiling.
Thank you. Yes you’re right there, the ceiling is always the best option for softening flash, but sometimes when I find myself in a theatre or hotel lobby or conference centre with low mood lighting and a fifty foot higher ceiling, these flash diffusers have really help me out. Thanks for watching and your kind comments, I really appreciate it. 📷👍🏻😀
Very helpful, and entertaining!
Thank you 😊
Something that I liked using was the "Rogue Photographic Design FlashBender v3 Soft Box Kit". It's a large, well put together paper that you can shape and reshape to the type of bounce of light you desire. You can even form it into a nice snoot. The cost is about £ 83.
That sounds like a very interesting bit of kit, I’ll see if I can get hold of one to take a look, thank you, and thanks for watching and commenting too. 👍🏻📷😀
Really helpful video, thanks sir
I’m glad you found it helpful, many thanks for watching 👏📷😊
This video was exactly what I needed! Wanted to find a review as well as some sample images using the diffuser that you gave the 10/10 rating for :) Definitely giving it a buy. Found the exact model at $1.95 too! Thank you so much, keep up the great work 👍🏻
Thanks Alan, that really is much appreciated, I’m glad you found the video useful, and thank you for watching 👏📷😊
Neat Thanks for the reviews
Really cool ! Thank so much
Glad you liked it!
I liked that very first one you did, may pick one up.
Go for it Tom. Thanks for watching 👏📷😊
Very Useful Video.. Thank you Sir
My friend you are very welcome, thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. 📷👏
long before reading your comments re: diffusers, I'm using the... flat white/silver one! Never failed me.... Cheers!
You have a discerning eye Tina, picked out the best one. Excellent judgement. Thanks for watching and commenting, it’s much appreciated 👏📷😊
I have most of these. I agree the elastic white/silver diffuser you like so much is very good. Except for one thing. and it's not minor. When shooting in a crowded event for example, it tends to fall off. Easily. It's best not to trust the elastic alone. Tape it to the head as well.
Good practical advice there from real world use, thank you 😊
That white collapsible Flash diffuser softbox is very often used for Macro photography as easy solution for nice diffused light on close subject.
it's great and for the other available options there are for macro this one makes you look the least of a numpty.
I used to use the reporters notebook, or better still the cardboard of someones birthday cake (usually silver) Sadly I have most of those diffuser's, my favorite is the first one you showed, the little slip on with the silver inside, theres two in my bag now.
Enjoyed your video mate.
Nice vid very informative! Subscribed.
Thank you Keighz, You’ve made my day, cheers 😊📷👏
Great test Thank's
Thank you for watching Tarik 👏
sooooooo helpful!!
Thank you 👏📷😊
brilliant video just what i needed . i hsd the winner one in mind before watching this . going to purchase it
Thank you for watching, enjoy the diffuser 👏📷😊
The first one is probably the most portable, the smallest, best looking and is overall great.
there's one like your fave but it's larger and you can bend it or shape it how you like. i prefer that over your fave, which i have a few of.
I'm been using an A5 size piece of white cardboard, held on with elastic bands, for some years now. It invites some comments but I reply that it's a choice between that and a €70 piece of plastic, so I go for the obvious one. I'm a newspaper photographer, mostly covering social events, sports and local news, so I need a note book to write down names, etc. The cardboard comes with the notebooks.
I like your thinking and a real green answer too, perfect recycling. In my 16 years as a press tog we used to use whatever was at hand to make the picture work, and this is a perfect example of that. Bravo 👏 👏👏
Thank You!
You're welcome!
Wow. Great review.
Thank you Adamus, I really appreciate that, thanks for watching 👏📷😊
Your choice is also my favorite. I have same one, for insect micro photographing.
Great minds think alike Joseph 🤣 thanks for watching and commenting, hope you get some great Micro shots👏📷😊
Excellent video!!
Thank you very much!
Lambency? I thought for a minute I was about to hear Catherine Tate's Nan reaction 😂 Kidding aside, the one that you gave 10/10 is my go to diffuser. Kudos to whoever has designed it. And yes you're right about the no nonsense appeal and function of the product in contrast with other contraption presented here and elsewhere. In fact, it never fails in the heat of the action provided the elastic band stays snugly fit. Keep this channel alive and more power to you 👍💪
Thank you for your very kind comment. I've realised after 40 years as a pro in this busines that people love gadgets, and while people are prepared to buy em, the camera companies will continue to make em. But truth be known, most of the time, there is a simple and inexpensive alternative. You pays your money you takes your choice I guess. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. 👏
I also prefer the Reflector.
thank you so mush .. you video is really usefull for me, but please give the full comparison from all the flash diffuser so we can see all the different between each diffuser
But what about but what about but what about . . . ???!!!
😆
FANTASTIC comparison and you've convinced me on the smaller silver/white version.
I assume (that word again) that since you didn't mention them that you don't think much of either the onboard flip-out clear diffuser or the tiny flip-out white card that most modern flashes have . . . or the bendable large-ish rectangle version that you can flap forward a bit at the top for directional light?
Amazing video 👏👏
Very nice comparisons, Riley! I've also ussed an index card (similar idea to your sheet of paper), which worked nicely as well. But for my on-camera flash work, I generally use either the Promaster code 1889 mini-softbox, or the flash accessory mods vailable for the Godox V860lll or the round head V1. (Godox makes a handy accessory (the SR-1) that converts a rectangular head to a circular head, which means that one mod kit will then work with both round and rectangular heads.. Thanks again!
That’s good info Steve, I must check out the Godox. Is the V1 better than the V860III other than being a round head?
@@rileyphotos Thanks, Riley! Not having experience with the V1, I'm not sure that it's "better" than the V860lll. I think the main differences are: The V860lll: uses the new V26A battery (though it's backwards compatible with the older battery), enabling slightly faster recycling times, covers 20-200mm zoom range, adds 1 extra wireless group (5 total), has the modelling lamp mounted on the flash body rather than in the head, and has a dedicated TTL/M switch. Thanks again!
Paper is like a snoot without being snoot. I am also using a milky dome from a broken old toy and old pearlpet water bottle
thank u very nuch for the help...
You’re most welcome Andreas 👏📷😊
thanks - really helpful
You’re welcome Tim 👏📷😊
Thank Youuuuuuuuu ❤❤❤
You’re welcome

Thank you!
You're welcome!
thanks a lot!
Thank you sir big help for me ..godbless
Aaron, I’m really happy that you found my video helped. Thank you for watching , and enjoy your photography 👏📷😊
The first one is good I have it
A very nice video. Gives a very good overview of diffuser. I have got the diffuser (White & Silver) which you prefer to keep in your bag. However, I haven't used it much. After watching this video I will seriously try it. I have also the one which you tested first & rated 7/10. Again didn't use it much. I will try that as well.
Thanks a lot for the nice Video !👍👍
You’re welcome Sanjay, glad you found it useful. I e been asked to repeat the video outdoors which I’ll do as soon as the sun comes out! Thanks for watching 👏📷😊
@@rileyphotos I am looking forward to watch your new Video ! 👍👍
Very nice tips! Thanks Bro! GOD BLESS😇
Thank you for your kind comments, I’m glad you found the video useful, cheers 👏📷😊
@@rileyphotos Very Informative Bro!😍😇
Thanks
Loved this video. I haven't got a flash diffuser yet. I will have to get the 10/10. I was surprised about the 2nd one being so naff. You made me laugh with the comment about looking like a complete numpty.
You're doing a great job with your videos btw👍
Thank you, that’s very kind, glad you enjoyed the video, enjoy the diffuser if you get one, and I’d like to wish you a very happy Christmas 🎄
@@rileyphotos Thanks. Merry Christmas to you too!
Nice video..I personally use the Rogue Photography design Rogue Flashbender as much as the Gary Fung..Again depends on your lighting situation. When I use the mount flash setup.
Thank you for your kind comment, I haven’t tried a Rogue design, I’ll look them up. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it 👏📷😊
Muito bom . parabéns
RESPECT!
Good test.
Thank you!
10/10 is good sir thanks your Exsapels
Thank you for watching 👏📷😊
I appreciate this, looking for the 1 you picked now
On Amazon for US i see this paired with a larger squared one. Is that also good?
Not sure but bigger is always better with flash diffusers. It a balance between the effect and usability as they can become too unwieldy when they are too big and unbalance the camera. Worth a go though. I do have some affiliate links in the description if that helps? Cheers Phil
@@rileyphotos thanks

Thumbs up for this video. Ordering the Silver and white fan reflector too, but the price in Belgium is around 14 euro :).
