I’ve had my MS271 Farm Boss for a little over a year now. It is a wonderful piece of gear! I’ve got the 20in bar and use in for maintenance around the property. I’ve cleared out lakefront with it, storm damage and removing old hollys. It’s fuel efficient too. You can cut a while on a tank. Once the unit is warmed up, rip the cord and it starts the first time! I recommend it highly for a homeowner with some property to keep in check!
I just bought one and now it's in the shop getting worked on because it won't start and I haven't even used it yet biggest peice of junk I've ever owned
Love the saw, but what’s up with no eye, ear leg and foot protection? Shorts and irrigation boots. I’m not trying to jump on ya, but that’s just not smart.
I just upgraded from the MS 180 to this farm boss.. The MS 180 has been very good with small tree trimming and firewood... the farm boss can handle bigger trees.. overall very good yard/farm tools.
Thanks for your review. Power is important in a chainsaw. However, durability is critical. I bought an X brand chainsaw which ran fine but wouldn't restart once it was hot and finally stopped running. I had no one to work on it. So, I bought a Stihl 271 and have been cutting about 5 cords a year for the past 5 years. I have a Stihl franchise nearby to work on it when needed. The 271 starts fine hot or cold and has enough power to cut what I need. I cracked the plastic housing over the oil tank and replacing it was too expensive, so I patched it with epoxy. Aside from that no problems or regrets.
This is the saw that I got for my dad a couple years back. He uses it, I tune and do maintenance on it so he doesn't have to worry about it. It's served him well so far.
I have a 290 it’s been a work horse Iv ran a 28” full slip chain for years now with no problems. Good review. I’m looking at the 311 or 362 still not sure what one I want
Just bought my Farm Boss today. Started that bitch up and sawed up 14 cuts in a big ass log out by the fence row. Never seen the inside of the tree at this point, so it was a toss up of trees I thought it might’ve been. So this log was dry, partially burned, and dead for 4 years…..found out it ripped through a Red Oak. So this log was the hardest it would’ve ever gotten and was rippin’ through it in 15 seconds. I didn’t mean to give it a punishing test but did and it amazed me. Farm Boss is a true badass!
Picked one up and agree. About 5-8 seconds per trunk cut on a 40yr old wind blown hemlock. Real pain was limbing the tree as it was resting on some young birches and maples and not getting crushed.
I've got a 180. It's good for anything less than 12". I've got some 28" oaks that I'm buying this 271 to cut. They only offer light duty chains for the 180 and I'm always wanting more out of it.
I can make that saw cut 10 times better I always sharpen a new chain because they have a little bur on the teeth a old logger taught me this trick and still do it to this day
Rain boots, basketball shorts, no glasses, ear protection or gloves. Love it
Yeah i had that same thought
Great body position as well. This is the person who might benefit from a saw course

It’s definitely a good saw. Thanks for watching

Go with the Farm Boss

Great saw. I've been running the heck out of mine for 2 years and it is doing just fine. Great video.

Just sold my 251CBE and bought the 271 with 20' bar with the yellow chain. It screams and cuts excellent and I love my new purchase
I have the 251cbe now which is a good saw...I'm also thinking of upgrading to the 271. Is the additional power a noticeable difference?
How is it holding up?
I got a 271 yesterday. Oh my goodness! It cuts TWICE as fast as my 251. TOTALLY worth it 🎉. I was cutting.18in.pine rounds in.mere seconds
This is the saw that I got for my dad a couple years back. He uses it, I tune and do maintenance on it so he doesn't have to worry about it. It's served him well so far.
I switched mine to 3/8 and have a 20 inch bar and she cuts like a dream
You cut hard or soft wood. Thought the bigger chain was better for cutting soft wood or am I wrong? How u like the 3/8ths chain on it
@@dentondunn4346 cuts perfect
Shorts and open rubber boots. Good way to fill yer boots with wood chips.
Or blood
I love my new 271. And I do all my own maintenance
Is that what they mean when they say fill your boots . Rubber boots and shorts
No safety Glasses, Shorts and Rubber Boots………really!

They really are workhorses
I’d go with the 362, it’s a pro model. Buy once, cry once.
Btw, I have a 271. Great little saw.

They are definitely great saws!
Could you speak English please..😂
my wife would be freaking out on me cutting wood like this. Holy cow man! you are an emergency room visit waiting to happen.
Just got one. I hold the throttle, press the chain against the wood, it spins and cuts through it.
They are great
I believe thats a soft maple, good little saw though

I love my MS 271 .
Mine came with a 16" bar and I want the 20". Couldn't I just swap it out no problem?
A 20 will probably work fine
Yes, the MS-271 is 16-20”
Just gotta get the 20” and it will work just fine
I have the same saw ,love it
Glad you like it
Not a lick of PPE! This guy is a baller.

Thank you sir ! 😀
I got one, and it cuts everything so were safety cloth
worst is cutting wood in shorts, always get wood chips in your boots
Guaranteed you've got saldust in those fishing boots.
This thing is amazing at holding down my papers while im outside
Also shows people i dont give a shit about my money
It´s a great saw but they kick back also (ouch)....just saying ;)
What chain saw doesn’t…just saying ;)

Yessir I know what will happen those boots will fill up with sawdust try to get that out of your socks
is this too strong for my first one?
Certainly could be, try and get the feel for one first. Quite a powerful saw
Maybe ms 171 for your first if your a small property owner

@@tenntech40251 is a great saw. Especially with easy start. Only 1/2 horsepower less than 271 I think.

Where's the safety gear? Geepers.
Is this fuel injected?
No, there’s only 1 chainsaw in the world that is fuel injected. All of them are carburetor
Nope there’s only one in the world that’s fuel injected and it’s mine which is the ms 500i
Yea man at least put some glasses on
great video nice i have the 271 can i put the 20inch bar on and what chain
Thank you it’s a great saw
Good to see you with your ppe on, i feel a bit dodgy cutting wood with my crocs and thong on 🫤
