The neighborhood we resided was right below where the military aircraft would come low overhead as they were making their final approach for landing. This went on literally 24/7. Is the apartments next the the longest runway? Bc some of these planes are huge double decker planes, scares me just watch these huge planes just above the building. We I was younger I lived in an apartment that shared a parking lit with a hospital, yes I lived steps away from the hospital. Their helicopter landed in the parking lot we shared, and when it took off or landed it would shack the apartment building. It took me like a month to get use to it. That was hard enough couldnt image having a 747 pretty much land on bottom of me while I was home.

To those who think you won't be able to sleep, Heathrow implements a curfew between 11pm and 6am so no planes landing or taking off between those times

i think people get used to the noise, they develop some sort of immunity to it. It happened to me when i moved to an apartment next to the train tracks. At first it was annoying having to hear train noise every 30 minutes or so, but two months after the noise became a part of the general ambience and i barely gave it a thought.

I think at 1pm at Heathrow the active runway is switched. They land on left and takeoff from right and change that at 1pm. And odd and even weeks are also swapped so one week is louder on mornings and one week is evenings. So it is not constant 24/7.
And there is five hours or something of no activity, if I remember from 1am to 6am.

A lot of those houses are brick, and brick does an excellent job of not letting noise thru. I also assume most of those houses would have a little extra insulation, maybe even sound deadening insulation installed.

WOW 😯 it almost looks like those humongous planes are trying to land right on the roof tops. I can just imagine the noise and probably the vibrations these planes ✈️ cause. As much as I love planes... I don’t think I could live in the flight path to Heathrow. Great 👍 video though! Thanks for posting.

The houses are soundproofed. Inside with doors and windows closed you can hardly hear the planes.

‘Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport’ is the the busiest airport in the world. It may not quite see the kind of international traffic which London does, but for the sheer amount of passengers it handles, Atlanta has consistently held the number 1 position, year after year, as “The Busiest Airport in the World”.

It's Myrtle Avenue, the aircraft are landing on 27 Right.....The planes don't actually fly right over the houses, they come in over Hounslow, across a field with horses in it, cross the A30 and touch down on the runway behind the perimeter fence. The angle of filming makes it look worse than it is......although you will hear the noise of them.....

Only of recent I have been to a neighborhood in ATL behind right behind KATL and trust me the noise is not that bad.The vibration is what's annoying! Takeoff is obviously worst when the wind direction changes

Just imagine if one plane crashed just short of the runway or if the pilot unintentionally flew the plane too low prior to landing.

Believe it or not, you get use to it. My apartment was right on the landing & take off at St. Louis International airport (Lambert Field) 1 every 3 min around the clock 365 days a year back in the 70s. It's not that busy now. Plus the aircraft have gotten much quieter since then. No snap crackle & pop. Todays engine have a weird moan.

Most of the people who live obviously know it's right next to an airport. They get used to the planes. I often fall to sleep listening to very loud thunder storms and heavy rain. Sometimes with headphones on. It's a form of ASMR.

I live about about a half mile directly behind a private airport runway that is only used for landings, and it is usually very quiet unless you have a g550, but there was one time that plane did take off, and ngl i though there was an earthquake.
