Hello Kris, our family is in this situation at the moment. My father in law in Florida had passed back in January. I spoke with a couple of estate sales companies before I arrived in FL. But had horrible results with the one company I was excited to work with. She was mad at me for making appointments with other companies and would not work with me, as per her words, hurt her feelings and wasted her time. The sale mostly consisted of lots of tools, several trailers and lawn equipment. The other company, I think, was more interested in antique tools rather then every day tools. So that feel through as well. At least they were nice. So I was unable to secure a company to do the sale before I had to leave. So now the house has been painted and cleaned and is ready to go on the market but we have not been able to to find a way to deal with all these items. Just last week we were presented with an offer by the lawn service owner to take a 35ft covered trailer for 3500.00. Sounded great, but then decided we pay him 6500.00 and he would clean out the entire lot. It feels like he is taking advantage of our situation. So my question is, how do I find a clean out company over a junk removal service? And is this a service you pay for and if so, does the 6500.00 sound like a good deal for the removal?
I'm so sorry to hear that you've had so many challenging experiences! I can't really advise you about the $6500 cost without knowing how much stuff you have and how heavy it is. (For instance, pool tables, pianos, sectional recliner sofas, sofa beds and similarly heavy and difficult to deal with items will really raise the prices). I'm not sure if this advice will help you, but the best way to find a reputable company is through word of mouth. Realtors often have good contacts. We get most of our referrals from local realtors, probate judges and estate lawyers. In some ways, I think the worst thing you can do is store the stuff because you're just kicking the problem down the road and it won't be easier to deal with later on. On the other hand, sometimes there's just no time and you have to put it somewhere. (No judgements!) I very much wish we lived closer by and could help you! I wish you the very best of luck!
Hi Kris, My Aunt went into a Nursing Home rather quickly. Her Conservator put her home on the market and just like that, it sold. The family went through and took everything we wanted or needed and the rest was picked up by an estate cleanup person, (now I wonder if it was Eric, lol)....so yes, for sure, time is a factor for not having an estate sale. She had many antiques, that none of us really had space for. Hopefully they went to good homes! Deb

My goodness, Kris, I would've grabbed all of that furniture! Such beautiful pieces!! You could hear the shock of the final prices in your voice & I felt the same way. On the other hand, you have such beautiful items on the online auction (love the latch hook rug - I made latch hook rugs as a young person in middle/high school) ❤ I'm excited that you have posted your online auction site & although I'm in Indiana, it's still wonderful to be able to see! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Estate cleanouts are often huge jobs, but the most challenging part can be dealing with loss/grief, multiple family members with different ideas on what should be done, and THEN the cleanout on top of it! Not easy.
I so wish we could, but the cost would be massive and I'm not sure we could keep the shade in decent shape if we did. It's such a cool piece! We also recognize that some of these pieces would probably do better on the west coast market.
Oh my goodness!!!! I would have furnished my entire house and drove from Tn for that furniture! ❤❤❤
