- Hi, Today Jon And I hit up the Tellico River here in East Tennessee.
Our goal is to get him on some trout... Keep in mind hes never used a fly rod nor caught a trout EVER.
The waters a little warm so we move around a lot looking for active trout.
it was very tough day on the Tellico!
Thanks for watching my friends, ill see yall in the next one!
I love watching your brother real backwards LOL usually when that happens it's like a world record fish or something that was so funny I loved it
I love the drone that is killer worth every penny. Every second with that thing just makes the video awesome it is definitely a super super valuable tool for you Matt and us.
Yea it’s pretty awesome. Can’t wait to use it more.
That's awesome bro. Love watching people figure out how amazing watching a trout take a fly is, and those drone shots are killer
Thanks man! He’s not an outdoorsman lol. He’s always playing his computer. Maybe this will make him wanna go more often lol
You’re going backwards! Hilarious 😂 Great video
Thanks man
Great video. The wife and I fished Tellico this past weekend, fishing was slow but we managed a couple of good ones for dinner. Looking forward to learning more about fly fishing. We were using ultralite spin tackle but still had a blast. Hopefully going back in a couple of weeks.
Couple of weeks should be better! This heat is really messing with the trout. Plus it’s about to be delayed harvest and that’s when it’s catch and release only. The big ones get to stick around all winter ❄️
I’m a i junior at the university of Tennessee and I was super excited when I learned that there was a bunch of fly fishing pretty close to campus. I’ve fished the tellico a bunch and I love it
That’s awesome dude! Where are you originally from?
Good on you for taking your brother! After he c aught a couple, he got excited.... like someone else I know.... 😂. It is tough this time of year plus it's been so hot. Nice video, dude!
Thanks Paul!
Nice fishing and nice videography
Thanks!
This is awesome content. I just bought my wife the TFO Lefty Kreh, NXT 4/5wt 8' 6" outfit and myself the Orvis Encounter 9' 6wt. I absolutely cannot wait to get out there and experience this. I am a little confused as to how to attach the flies, tippet, leader line, etc. and would love a video from you showing how all this is done. I am nearby Tellico in Georgetown, TN (Cleveland, TN). Thank you for the content and keep up the great work!
Thanks for watching! I’ve been busy the last week or two. But I’ll try in my next video
@@TheTroutGuy1 I found an Orvis video that has explained most of it to me. I am still hung up on what a tippet is and what it is for. Thank you for your content and for your reply!
Tippet is used for adding more line onto your leader once your leader gets shorter. If you notice that the leader is thicker at the top and the further down it gets thin. We’ll when you break off, you start getting into the thick part of the line. Then you can take your tippet and add thin line to your leader ( fixing your problem) by using a triple Surgeons knot.
You’ll also use it when you’re using more than one fly.
Say for example you wanna use two nymphs, you tie your first nymph onto the end of the leader. Then you’ll take about 10 inches that tippet and tie a clinch knot onto the shank of that first fly then you’ll be able to add the second fly to that tippet you added.
@@TheTroutGuy1 I don't believe you unless you make a video of it. :-). Just kidding. Thank you!
I will man, just gotta get some time. Thanks for watching dude!
That is awesome that you are taking time to teach your brother how to fly fish. He did great for his first time. When you going to get the jon boat back out the clinch again? It's been a long time.
I sold it! I’m looking into getting a drift boat in the future. But until then I’m gonna get a kayak and kayak some of these rivers this fall.
Awesome buddy looking forward to it
Love the videos man. I have binged them all the last two weeks. We go up to tellico to visit family often and i'm just getting into fly fishing so hoping to hit up the river soon. Any tips on how to know if the water level is optimal before heading out?
I usually just watch the weather. Sometimes I’ll call Tellico river outfitters and ask him how it is. But sometimes you can’t really tell because sometimes it’ll rain on the mountain and not the valley.
Great video! Finally moved into the new Tennessee house. Once I get Motor vehicle Docs done, it's time to scout Hiwassee and Tellico. Do you need additional permits for Tellico?
Yes, you need a Tellico river permit. Unless you have your sportsman license
What drone did you get I just got one myself we need to get together and fish
Mavic mini 3 pro!
@@TheTroutGuy1 heck yea that’s awesome I just got the mini se they’re nice haven’t got to film with it yet heading to the smokies on Monday
Dude that’s awesome! Goodluck!
Someday I'll get to fish it. We fished Gatlinburg I didn't catch anything under 2 pounds. If you go Friday would be the best.
Dude! That’s were it’s at! I’d hold off on the tellico until October. We went up again today and almost got skunked. I’ll probably hit the smokies up in a few weeks
@Noah Maddox On River Road access all up and down it. If you use GPS early mornings around 6:30 am you can park along the street near Draft Burger Bar.
@Noah Maddox if you want to start up stream Peddlers Steakhouse is a good start. Bridges are where they stock.
@Noah Maddox tried a lot of things san juan worms, egg patterns and nymphs. I went the day before stocking.
Just met u in person today at tellico
Where you on the golf cart or in the truck?
@@TheTroutGuy1 we were in the white truck
Nice to meet you dude. Did you guys keep fishing?
@@TheTroutGuy1 yea man we went down to the bottom to hit a couple more holes I broke off on a nice rainbow but you know how the bottom is this time of year so that was pretty much it since the bottom is not stocked good this time of year how about y’all
@@beanmillsaps531 we caught about 7 In total. Glad y’all caught some fish.
