Sometimes I too wonder about my own purpose - in a nice house, two cars, food on the table and a 2024 Harley Davidson Street Glide - Then I remind myself somewhere desperate people are balancing baskets of water on their heads....then I feel grateful about my own situation.
I know how you feel. I got a 2017 RK and drove for two years with the Honda-Davidson sound, and I couldn’t take it anymore. I put some Cobra NH pipes on without telling my better half. When we went for a ride she noticed it right away, and said, “that’s what a Harley is supposed to sound like”.
I ran zombies with a 107ci and just a cam. Loved it at the time. Went to 124ci and tried to make them work with the zombie rings but the sound wasn't what it use to be and my dyno guy told me it was killing the HP and TQ i just spent all this money to get. Put the louvered 2.5" baffles from tab instead and was too quiet but the dyno showed 8hp and 12tq better. So i riped off all the fiberglass that was left in there....most of it blew out and caught the dyno guys door on fire....and sounds sooo much better! Didn't kill any numbers that way either just some air/fuel ratio adjustment.
Well as I'm a fan .... I'm 65 and the rails are in my way, so that's why I made my siderails removable so I can reach deep in the bike lol e ya brother
Thunder Max definitely that’s what I have absolutely amazing. Nothing compares to it, but I don’t know if they’ll have one out for the new bikes yet. Especially you living in Florida and going to like Sturgis you will keep the same tune you won’t lose no power it auto tunes itself, correct back into the original tune that was put into it amazing.
Look into impact wiring solutions when you go past the se tuner. Impact is fully featured and allows VVT. Control. It’s much faster than T-max and retains ride modes. It also has fully programmable throttle control, launch control, flex fuel control, actual VE tables and much more.
Tab Performance with Zombies are the only way to go one the M8 bikes. You are correct as well about running more rich with slip ons on the newer bikes. My 2020 CVO always smells rich when I park it. As you said, once i put the air cleaner on it, the tune went out of whack and I needed to get my tune updated. Just slip ons as you have currently will give you a rich smell even after a long ride.
The AFR on these new bites is good for stage 1 even with an air cleaner they're not going to lean out enough where you actually need a tuner right away. There's been multiple tests done to confirm that. Another thing is is Vance & Hines makes the FP4 which is also EPA compliant so you have those drawbacks but the rumor is that's who makes the screaming eagle tuner these days
If you want loud out of the Milwaukee 8. Please try this Frankenstein setup. Keep the tab zombies, add screaming eagle heavy breather, reinhart slim line true dual head pipe, add your cam (hopefully it's a torque cam) then obviously tune it. This produces the most aggressive sound you can get out of the mil8. I did this to my 18 sg special and it is asshole loud! It won't give you the throaty deep tone of the old evolution but it will get everyone's attention.
DK CUSTOMS, 17-20 were able to change ac and slip ons without a tune. AFR’s were still in good shape. If it smells fat, you can most definitely change ac and be just fine, 100%
Sounds good. I'm impressed with the SE extreme flow circle air cleaner, and you can hear the suction. Pop the cover off the stocker air cleaner, it's a little bit different in there. The manifold is tucked up tight to the jugs.
Man... Definitely not on a new bike... But ride a 13 RK, I regressed! Had Rinehart's on it and went back to the re worked stock pipes.. Got more torque from them vs the Rinehart's.. Also a tad bit louder! Dig your views on the products..
I have the tap performance zombie outbreaks on my road glide sounds great. They’re a little big. I scrape the sides of them all the time but they do for now until I get a two to one.
I've got the chrome mufflers with the black downward slashes on my 23 ultra. I think it looks pretty good, giving it just enough contrast from all the other chrome on the bike.
I bought a used '22 FLHCS all stock with 675mi on it. Rode it one time and did not ride it again until I put slip ons on it. Straight through mufflers and it's better, but barely any trace of the classic Harley Big Twin sound. Carbureted bikes sound a lot better.
You need to add the Z rings. I love to look and torque that they provide. Sounds real good.. No surprise from TAB.. From what I am hearing from Harley techs, on the 24's no tuner needed for the stage 1, Head pipe, air cleaner and mufflers. Not sure if I trust that.. I would prefer a custom tune with a stage 1.
The only 'non epa' tuner other than a thunder max ecm replacement, is a TTS Mastertune. Used it on my my 100hp Sportster build and it works flawlessly, and it'll save ya a buck or 2 over the thunder max and you don't have to replace ecm.
There are quite a few. Dynojet makes several, Cobra makes one, V&Hs used to be race application, etc. TTS was designed by an old Harley employee that designed the SE tuner from earlier generations.
Currently running SE round air cleaner and tuner with khrome werks slip on 2.5 baffles, on my 24 SG. Its decent enough, not a huge difference from stock. Waiting on more options.
My 114 road king has slip ons... I kinda miss my straight piped 103 at times but the m8 does sound good with slip ons. I do still want a cam but I'm content in the meantime
You do know that you have the capability to adjust the bike through the system settings and set it up because of the 3 different modes there is an extra mode where you can program what you like
Impact solutions is the best tuner out for the 24s right now from. Everything is have been seeing. Also if you are worried about warranty definitely don't use anything but harley parts. I have a 23 road glide ST that is basically a paper weight now. Motor was rebuilt at 400 miles and now at 8000 the transmission is bad and harley will not replace it because I have power vision on the bike. Guess time to put it back stick and let harley come get there junk
Sounds like a Tesla - you’re not wrong. My wife told me her vacuum cleaner was louder. I put 4.5” zombie baffles on my ‘24 as well. All is good with the world.
My new 2024 came with full S&S header exhaust and slip one’s, however the slip on’s have what they call high flow cats in both mufflers. I won’t get a chance to try it up here in Alberta for a bit. I called S&S and they said it’s the ELDorado with 4.5 inch slip on’s and the crossover pipe that goes under the bike doesn’t have the crimp and therefore both mufflers have the same diameter inlet. Wondering if I have any other muffler options without the cats inside. I’ve never even heard of this before.
I wonder if your header outlets are the same diameter on both side? If so, they might be basically twin cam touring mufflers. If you take them off, measure your header outlet size. You might be able to get any twin cam touring muffler to fit easily.
OOoo that sounds nice. I may have to invest in a pair of them myself, lol. I bought a 24 Road Glide in September. I kept my stock bars though I had to grind that tit out of the clamp so I could roll them further forward. I have never run any kind of ape but my worn out old shoulders are liking it. These are just the stock bars rolled to vertical but they're perfect for me. I managed to put 4200 miles on it before the bottom fell out of the temps here in Tennessee. I got a 50 mile ride in the other day but I'm getting too old for cold and I'm too old school to buy heated gear, lol. Maybe I need to do like a co worker of mine and move to Florida. I hate Florida, lol. Love ya guys! Glad to have you back stateside.
I have a set of zombies that I had on my low rider s that I changed out when I did my stage 1 all trask… the zombies sound amazing I didn’t realize that tab had a air cleaner that I could have matched to the slip ons… if anyone wants them reach out to me
@ProfessionalMonkey Yeah I just had to throw it in there for the list of available tuners. Lots of the big name dyno tuning guys are raving about it. I have no experience with it.I love the Power Vision on my 22 anyway.
@ I was just pointing out that the stock head pipe is good up to 150 hp with cat delete. I don’t know how big you might build. Just making a point for some that may not know the potential of their stock m8 head pipe. If one isn’t going to build over 150 hp, no sense in throwing money away on an aftermarket head pipe
Question: with the new technology on these new bikes, with the new computers, does it learn that there's a higher flow exhaust so it releases more fuel? Wonder if that's why it smells rich.
Hey Monkey, did I miss it? Are those 4" or 4.5" Tabs? And is there a difference in sound and or performance? Thanks Also, the 24 I road today sounded like a riding mower I use to own. 😂
I don’t understand tuning or maps or any of that. All I need to figure out is what’s the best Stage 1 tune option when you know you will never do a stage 2. I already have slip ons.
Sounds much better Monk.. i do have a question for you. As its not easy to get Tabs in Canada do you know if Beatrice and the crew from Tab are gonna to be at Sturgis in 25?

Will deleting the stock ECH, and replacing with a Thundermax, delete the ride modes, and RDRS? And does the TMax talk with the display like the stock ECU? I did note that there are completely different Dynojet tunes from Fuel Moto for RDRS bikes and non RDRS - so I’m concerned that TMax may not have the proprietary HD software for ride modes and RDRS among other things.
My 2020 Street Glide Special had 12 miles on it when it was time for cams. The 114 stock is just sad. I'm curious from a tuning perspective what adding head pipes to a bike that has the tab high flow exhaust/high flow air cleaner/ and SE tuner. Would love to get headpipes. But not sure what to do about the fuel side of it.
Question…aren’t “slip on’s” the same mufflers that you use if you are changing your head pipe too?? Meaning, is their a different muffler you buy if your doing a full exhaust? If so, I never knew that.
Unfortunately the air cleaner assembly is different. The throttle body is angled where the air cleaner mounts to the throttle body. I wanted to pick up someone's take off heavy breather but no luck.
I bought a used street glide a few months ago that has slip ons + air cleaner already installed, how would I figure out if it’s been tuned? The wonderful RideNow dealership didn’t know..
It's tough, You can look under the seat and side cover to see if they left the tuner. Some can be used then removed, others need to stay in. I would think about getting a Power Vision or Thundermax and run it to be sure. That way you are also ready for future upgrades.
@@ProfessionalMonkey your right! which is really interesting as i was charged for a FULL stage 1 upgrade including power vision, time to have a conversation with the dealer (only took delivery last week)

Fuel injected engines run rich at cold start (open loop) and engine warms up the ecm leans out the fuel mixture ( closed loop )
Yup but motorcycle ECMs are way less able than a car or truck to compensate for huge swings in air fuel mixture.
slip ons and aftermarket air cleaner on the new 24 no tuner needed the ecm will adjust
I’ve heard people say that, but I disagree. I’d rather fatten up the tune a bit.

@ good to know, appreciate it!
No powervision option? Odd my 24 streetglide with cobra cans, SE filter is running a powervision tune...
Their site doesn’t show licenses available for 24s
@@ProfessionalMonkey your right! which is really interesting as i was charged for a FULL stage 1 upgrade including power vision, time to have a conversation with the dealer (only took delivery last week)
How much louder is it with head pipes on your other bike with those mufflers than just the slip ons
Head pipes make it a lot louder!
@ProfessionalMonkey thanks I drilled out my convertor but I think.i will get a head pipe
@ a drilled out stock head pipe is a lot larger radius so it never sounds as good as aftermarket unfortunately.
@ProfessionalMonkey thanks for the confirmation I really enjoy all the videos and you have gotten me back into working on my ride
@ that’s awesome! Have fun!
Always looks like Gundam for an opening. Anyway whats up
I put slip on’s on my 23 street ride 117 and didn’t screw with the intake. Just put a different air filter on. Do I still have to get it tuned
There are arguments out there. Some are saying no, it I still did and would.
