- Is the Harley Davidson CVO Road Glide ST as awesome as they say? A friend of mine at @harleydavidson offered to loan me a 2024 CVO Road Glide ST to try it out for a few weeks, as I just sold my 2019 CVO Road Glide and might be making a purchase in a few months. So far, I have only been able to give it a top level look, but we will have fun with it for a few weeks. The 121 motor in this thing, the track modes, the inverted forks, all make for an incredible bike.

I’m not sure if you’ve seen it in person yet, but the Roadglide CVO ST in white is immaculate!!
I bought mine as soon as it hit the dealer show room in Massachusetts. Then took it to Daytona for bike week. 2k miles on it and I freakin love it. There’s a few things to change seat so I can have a passenger, rear pegs they don’t actually come with them. I may do floor boards and bars still on the fence. I used a taller wind shield. I did tab 50 cal slip ons and I am in love!!! Bike is a beast. You can get a wireless mic adapter thingy “riding and wrenching” did a video on it and it works balls for car play.
I have 21 Cvo RoadGlide Black Hole with cam, D&D, 9 inch Bars, chopped tour pack and SDC seat and other goodies. Love it. But I love the new CVO ST too. The only reason I can’t pull the trigger is Sturgis. From Chicago I ride to Sturgis every year and my bike works great for that. To add the quick release hardware for a tour pack, new floorboards and hi way pegs a must as would be a cam and pipe…..makes me think no on the ST. At least for now…..I’ll save the money and ride my CVO that does it all for me.
Great review!
Got mine in black and already got dual seat and sissy bar, rear speakers, Rinehart slip-ons (bike is way too quiet), windshield (still on the fence about the best one). I think that will be it for now though… plenty of power as is.
Like you, I love the new tech. Basically leaving ride mode in sport…
Having a blast!
I just rode the RG CVO ST back to back with the Indian Challenger Pursuit at Americade. The Harley suspension was excellent, the engine is an incremental improvement from my current 114 M8. The CVO ST obviously is set up for "sporty" riding, with the bars, controls and suspension. The carbon fiber stuff is ugly. Not sure it's worth the extra $$$.
The Indian was eye opening in a very good way. Plenty of power, comparable with the 121. Everything else is done very well. It's worth looking at. I think it's measurably better than the standard Road Glide, and performance is similar to the the CVO RG.
I own the cvo st and I have test ridden 2 Indian challengers. First the power is better in every way on the Harley. Second the paint quality isn’t even close the Harley’s kill Indian with the paint. Third the Indians cover a ton of crap with a ton of plastic, their switch housings are plastic there is a massive amount of plastic in the inner faring and the housing for the screen is double side taped down and comes loose on a ton of them. Feels very cheaply made. Third a ton of the challengers bags leak. 4th they still haven’t figured out the parasitic draw that requires a ton of them to stay on a tender.
Now that electronically adjustable rear shock that’s a giant win on the Indian.
Both bikes do ride well. However the Indian just feels like an import not an American iron cruiser. It’s also a bigger chore to take bags off and put them on. The fairing has 20 plus bolts to remove, it’s a chore.
Cost. To get near the cvo you would have to buy the elite. 40k for the elite 43k for the st
@@dnice4431 Fair enough, I think I was pretty clear it was an initial impression based on a demo ride. I have never been a fan of the Polaris brands. From an overall design perspective, I'm still not and probably never will be an "Indian" person.
What I think is notable is that Indian is pushing innovation and increasing in quality that rivals and occasionally exceeds Harley in some ways. This has to be good for riders, competition drives product development across the board.
I always felt that Harley wins on the quality and feel of the controls and components. I didn't pick up on that much of a difference between Indian and Harley with the demo bikes I rode. Yes, the Indian stuff isn't quite up to Harley, but it's much closer and certainly didn't feel flimsy and look cheap/generic like in the past.
@@chuckc1 to me the Indians did feel cheap and plastic heavy. Almost like a sport bike version of a road glide. Which is fine if that’s the market they are targeting. But clearly they are gunning for Harley.
Any innovation they push and others for that matter. BMW who ever I want Harley to hate that they weren’t first and come back hard. Now that said that’s exactly what the 24 models and the cvo road glide st are. They are a direct answer to prove who the big dog is. They went further on tech, performance, weight reduction, power and torque and lowered costs while doing so. It was a direct shot at Indian. Now does Harley have more to do and still a ways to go. Sure. However I like where they are headed. Big wins for us.
I think the Indian Challeger is ugly AF.
I paid 44 otd for mine. Just waiting for tuning options so I can put a 2-1 for it. But it's definitely a sick bike.
I test rode a '24 road glide (non cvo) and i must say...sport mode is no joke! I wish i could demo one with whatever windshields are available to get a feel for how the wind management is going to be. I'm sure its not as important in Florida, but in upstate NY its a thing!
I have the white version and loving it. You got the horsepower and the warranty. Have fun riding it.
I have 2 bikes. A 2023 Road King Special (all black) and a 1953 panhead, that I am in the process of restoring. That Roadglide is very pretty, I had a 2017 Road Glide at one time, but I'm not to keen on the radiators on the new bikes. Nice to get a detailed outlook on it. And I bet that 121 screams.
Play with the front fork adjustments - I spend some time on mine on the suspension tuning CVO ST and you really can make that thing handle and ride just like YOU want it to. Traded my 2022 CVO RD for one, and I did cam, head pipe, professional tune, just to get the same numbers out of that 117 as the ST comes right out of the box. Imagine when we can tune and maybe cam them what they might be able to get.
Just posted this same comment in your latest vid:
2024 is the year we are finally beginning to see American twin manufacturers push one another. Just like we've been talking about and saying would be a good thing. And then people have to start talking smack... head shaking. Manufacturers rip one another off constantly, is what it is, and we are all the better for it. I am a die-hard Indian rider. I LOVE the new Harley's this year and the trickle down from last year's CVOs. Cant' wait for more and thanks for always putting out no BS cool MC content, dude.
Until Harley will release the 121 on plain Road Glides, Road Glide 2024 with the 117 is the choice , to make any upgrades you wish.
The ST beats a standard RG no matter what you can do to the 117... USD forks and the Brembos make the ST completely different than the standard option and far superior.
I like the new Street Glide fairing, but like the old Road Glide fairing.
Glad you got a good price for the CVO; I'm still a little bummed it didn't work out. Great video, great looking bike. The "45yrs of CVO" video's will be sweet, can't wait!! ✌😇
I've said this on your Insta, your FB, and now here...this is the Road Glide that will get me away from SGs. This RG is SO sexy and I want this bike, it just doesn't make financial sense right now. Being a "responsible" adult sucks.
Shut up and get a loan, buy the damn thing! I did and its a Rocketship.
@@randyboisa6367 I would if I didn’t already have my 2022 SGS. I’m not going to go into a RG upside down
I’m quite satisfied with my 22 SGST. If the CVO is as good then there will be some very happy consumers
It’sa nice bike. But I still prefer my 23 Roadglide-ST. I prefer the analog gauges over these big screens.
Me to have the rg st 2023 love it
Me too my 22 sg st
Great review, you mentioned that the starter button to press and hold till it starts, actually you can just press it and let go, I will start by itself
The Kill start / start switch you do not have to press and hold press it down, just press it down and let it go, it will start up !
I love the CVO ST. Can’t afford it. You also can’t install a tour pak because of the location of the shock adjustments. It is a cool bike. Question, can you change modes while riding?
Yes
Bo, I promise you that you are going to purchase that bike, it’s super nice and you won’t be disappointed
I just made a purchase of a 2024 FLHXSE in Copperhead color. Has now just over 200 miles Traded my 2021 FLHXSE in for it.... I thought the 117 had it but the 121 vvt really has it I put a D&D into 1 pipe and Stage 1 tune. So far I'm impressed. Love the Color too
I rode it lot at the Harley booth during bike week maybe five or six times it is a pretty amazing bike straight out of the box. But it’s $42,000 so yeah.
I have one and i love it you have to set the pre load on the rear shocks to your weight.
I'm about to trade my 14 street glide special I'll be getting a 19 street glide cvo... Cause of you channel I'll be putting the tab 50 cal on it... So excited... 2131
Right on all around there!
I got mines for 45k out the door. Bought in jersey feb 10, also you can customize track plus a turn it up more 😊
I was watching the speedo as you were going through the shifts and that thing looks and sounds fast!!! This shows us we don't need to make so much noise to make power. I wouldn't change that exhaust at all. But that seat has to go! It's almost perfect.
Right on!
The crank has a light weight balancer on it verses the older heavy balancer used on the other bikes. This allows the engine to build RPM's faster. My biggest gripe with the HD engines is that it takes forever to get to redline.
I wish they would go back to the limited paint sets and the ultra fancy cvo paints they use to have.
Its great to see that HD is closing the innovation gap rapidly. The CVO is a great example of progress. Still, the fuel tank cap seems to be as stupid as it was on rhe older models. I like fairing lowers. Doesn't look like the CVO allows for that with that new crash bar. Not sure i like the looks of the new saddlebags. Might be a case of the more often you see it, the more it grows on you. Good video to introduce the new tech. 👍
The 45 Yrs of Change video will quite interesting… look forward to that one!
A 2024 RG vs ‘24 SG comparison would be interesting too… if ur bud at Harley would lend u another. Love to hear ur thoughts between the two…
8:45 I’m 95% sure the reason it has rear pegs is cause it is the bike Blockhead had on his cross country trip. I thought it was the same bike before that but it all but confirmed it when you showed those
That’s it! I didn’t know.
I love my 23 cvo it's better in every way over previous gen
After riding Harleys exclusively for 35+ years, I bought a BMW S1000XR, and I absolutely love it. I still have my 07 Electra Glide (2015-103", chipped, cammed, and dyno'd at 115hp), but as far as speed, handling and stopping power, my Harley can't touch my Beemer.
I'm still trying to talk myself into buying one. I road one at demo days, and it was great.
I bought one and it's a great bike. I'm very happy with it so far.
You do not need to hold the button to start it's pushed to start just tap it and it will start up
Harley knocked it out the ball park with this bike!!
I just bought my first harley, im a yr 2 rider started with a vstar 1100 and just purchased an 05 RK. Love it so far. Maybe in 20 yrs I'll afford a 2024 harley lol
Right on! Welcome aboard!
Mr. Monkey, thank you for re-posting the video. In your first version, I thought maybe you were trying to do a “time warp” themed video comparing the two models.
In version 2, I’m happy it turned out better and you were able to show off the newer model. BTW, I’m digging the Ray-Ban camera glasses. Keep up the great work!
Definitely louder pipes but yeah, it has just about anything you want. Loosen the handle bar mount and you can push the handle bars forward to give you a slight lift without damaging anything. Don't have the money for the CVO ST but definitely looking at the lower model RG. The stock seat is actually quite comfortable on the lower model RG.
Find somewhere curvy and test out Track+, it was a lot of fun on the track with ABS off, makes you remember what it was like before we got linked braking…
Thank you for the video I bought the 2024 road glide would have bought the CVO if I test drove it first thank you again
I test rode the 24 standard road glide with the ride modes and oh ya I want one. I was doing 90mph so comfortably that it felt like 60mph on my 2013 RK and reminded me of the smoothness of the 2009 Goldwing I had. I love my RK having put 27000 miles on it in less than 2 years of owning it but I love what they have done with the 24 models. I can't imagine how that ST is with the 121.
Great point on this bike , looking hard at a 2024 road glide
I own a 22 RGS, I dont think a Standard 2024 RG is worth the upgrade to me though I heard that it is better in all ways. I like the CVO ST but the price is just too steep even though I can afford it if I want it.
Salesman said he was converting his 2020 RG, - inverted forks would cost $6K, changing rear was $1K. To get the power that 121 has from a 114 (what his had) was about another $8K. I didn’t ask him if that was all factory parts or aftermarket but I doubt the cost would be a lot different either way, so another $15K over the original price would get you to $45K and you still won’t have the new tech.
I like the RG CVO ST and RG limited. They both ride amazing.
Is that possibly the 24 CVO Blockhead brought back to Florida from Vegas in February? Check the mileage, it may be as those do not come with passenger pegs and that one has them. While going cross country he had the dealership in El Paso TX add them.
I have heard the biggest issue is the buffeting at interstate speeds due to the low windshield.
Yep, that's the one!
Yes it's a easy fix.
Was kinda hoping you would have got the street glide ……definitely an awesome bike though
On your shovelhead dresser the brown seat came with the 2 tone paint tan and brown. You had the choice of fixed or sprung seat. I bought one new from Low Country HD in 1979. I was in the Navy and left the next day for San Diego. great trip.
I have a 23.5 CVO Road Glide I absolutely love!
Which color?
Dark Platinum. I tell everyone it's silver! 🤣
I've got the same bike. Night and day from my 19 cvo street glide. Loving it
Big G'day Mr Monkey & family from Down Under 🇦🇺....
Melbourne Victoria Australia 🇦🇺 is missing you😭😭😭.... It's 🥶🥶🥶 & Winter has arrived....😭😭😭
Was excited to get your feedback on this♥️💛♥️💛♥️
My mate order the exact bike, arrived just a few weeks ago & his loving it.... Even being Winter, it's a struggle to keep him off it🤣😂🤣
May all your days be Harley days
💪♥️💛♥️💛♥️💪
Safe travels 🙏♥️🐾🐾🇦🇺
❤❤❤❤
Just 135 swapped my RG Limited... loving it so far!!
I love my CVO ST! Track move Ann the time. 👍
Dude!!! You hit 50 in the intersection! Crazy!
YOLO I can see one in your future. I want one, but I am so in love with my CVO.. I cannot wait to hear what Mrs.Monkey thinks about it after she rides it..
See Traveling Talls video, he has just done a stage 2 on his stock 2024 and it makes as much HP as CVO ST.... thats a real saving....just food for thought
But it doesn’t have track and track + modes, or the fancy paint, or inverted front forks, rear shocks with Reservoirs, upgraded audio… if you don’t care about that stuff then it’s a savings but the ST Is more than just HP and TQ. I road it in Vegas at the launch and I have put over a thousand miles on on base 2024 Street Glide and Road Glide.
@@RidingintheOzarks true, but it does have wet, touring, sport or custom mode where if you set all to max its pretty much track like mode. You can upgrade the stereo and rear shocks and still be on the profit side...but its up to you
@@paineys3341 track mode isn’t just more power it was based off Kyle’s input and it is really a more refined throttle in my opinion. My point is after doing all those upgrades the cost difference is much less especially if you have to pay a shop labor. I’m not saying one is better than the other but resale on a CVO will be higher, banks don’t loan on upgrades generally. It is all just things to consider.
I hate modes on a bike. Just learn how to ride.
Doing a stage 2 is always a good option over buying the upgraded version. A 107 m8 and a stage 2 is better than a 114 or 117.
But a 114,117, or CVO hold their value better than a 107. You just need to decide for yourself where your priorities are.
Glad you finally got it! Not sure if the ST has it buy my CVO has the garage door opener, easy as hell to program and you just pull your flash to pass button in to open the garage.
I paid $44,500 for the 25th anniversary Copperhead colored cvo but if you buy the Orange CVO it is $6000 more up here in Northern NY
Gorgeous bike sir. You are blessed.
Do you have a video on your helmet/recording setup?
Great vid i may have to test ride one but i LOVE my 19 breakout
🤘🏻You are living the dream🤘🏻
The look is not me. But appears to be a nice bike. I’m still in love with my 2017 RGS with stroked stage 4.
Like you I customize my bikes for my comfort and preferred look. I didn’t buy a CVO when I bought the Special, for that reason. Didn’t want to spend 42K on a bike, then drop another 10K to change what I didn’t care for.
That is a really nice looking ride😎👍
I brought one home today. I picked white.
You’re totally going to get one.
Those glasses are sick!
That’s the bike that Blockhead wrote across the country. He put the rear pegs on. We have a place to put feet. It has a 511.
You're gonna make me something bad... lol, I now want this bike.
You get to play with all the fun toys. The gods obviously smile upon you.
I test rode the cvo st road glide I'm getting rid of my 2022 ultra limited to get the 2024 cvo st road glide absolutely loved the test ride
I tested both the road glide and street glide. I know they are identical bikes from the forks back. But they felt like different bikes. Didn’t not like the street glide. I wasn’t a fan of how responsive the throttle was in track mode. You’d hit a bump and get double jarred around. But in cruise/touring mode…fantastic bikes. Might be time to upgrade my 13 ultra.
Nice bike. But where do i get the glasses? Thats impressive quality for what they are.
You can get them on the Ray ban website
@@ProfessionalMonkey Awesome. Thanks
I take it your an HD purest. Not denying HD is a good bike but when I was in the market I fell for the 21 Indian Roadmaster. Not just because all the options you have to spend more $$ for on a CVO is standard equipment on the Indian but because it stands out. Like I said both great brands and to each their own but give it a try if you haven't already.
I had a brand new Indian Springfield in 2016. It was a dumpster fire of a bike. Bad paint, electrical gremlins, etc. I owned it one year and dumped it.
I would go with the non-ST CVO Road Glide. Get that VVT, have the 4 speakers and a lot of the stuff that they left off the ST to strip weight.
After you ride the new 24 Harley, you should ride a 24 goldwing
I have the Goldwing and just bought a CVO Street Glide too. They BOTH have their place. They are both the best at what they do but they do very different things.
@@Trialnerror is the goldwing faster?
@@ridered7394 Goldwing is WAY faster yes but the Harley is much more fun and engaging.
How good is the sound of the Goldwing...😂😂😂 It's not just about speed
@@TrippinwithSimothe flat six cylinder of the Goldwing sounds like an F1 car!!! Not the same sound/heart of a big American V-twin but it sings a good song.
Excellent video as usual. That bike needs you.
Custom dynamics has a flush replacement for the license plate.
Love the glasses, Sir👊🏻
By the way, it’s called the flat out bar and it has a 511 cam
Funny thing is I have one of those bars and couldn’t remember the name.
@@ProfessionalMonkey lol, that’s ok
If you do get a 24, please get a SG, seems like all the YTers are going RG, love my 24 SG, fantastic bike.
that's what I am thinking street glide for me.
Dude.. you forgot to mention how long it took you to get to Mexico to film this video where the speed limit don’t matter! Was the seat comfortable for the trip?
The start button doesnt have to be held down from other vids ive watched they just push and release and it starts
Bubba...what are those glasses youre wearing?? Am I seeing cameras on the sides???
I like it but going to see what recalls they get first. Great video.
Needs wrap around front fender to protect radiator
With all the discussion around the 2024 RG’s….do you think having a 2020 RG and doing all the upgrades is worth it, instead of buying a new one(2024) ?
Or is that dumb question?
My buddy kept telling me he'd never own an M8, "the M8s just don't sound like a Harley". Stock they do kinda sound like a sewing machine but after an S&S 475 cam, 128in big bore kit, and 2 into 2 exhaust he eats his crow everytime we ride.
I love my 2024 RG CVO ST, best I ever had... You should try Track A, it is Mega Psychopath... Insane.
Thats beautiful bike..i never seen an ST model in person....
Ride Safe🇺🇸
Sorry Mrs Monkey..looks like someone is going to have a new bike soon 😂
Just got mine today… HFWow!!!! On my way to TAB for the 50 Cal / Zombies!!! 🎉❤🎉
ST is bad ass, speakers in the bags should be standard along with bag guards
Is that the same bike Blockhead had for a while? He added the rear pegs when he road it back from Las Vegas.
That’s what I’m told.
@@ProfessionalMonkey That is an awesome bike. I have seen a couple of his videos on it. You will definitely enjoy that ride.
Great vid!
LIGHTS!!! It needs more Custom Dynamics or Advanblack lighting!!! You can get the floorboard-mounted highway pegs from Ciro3D.
It needs nothing from any of those companies.
@@stuartstogdill2406 Ok...ok..."needs"...maybe not. But if it was owned and not borrowed/lent...then I stand by the statement. Whether it's Custom Dynamics, Ciro3D, Eagle Lights, etc. It could use more illumination. That equals visibility and being seen. lol. Ride safe.
That reminds me of the robot's face from the cartoon , "FUTURAMA"..
I want a CVO ST noooow, and mode the engine and new exhaust for real power !!
could put frame-mounted highway pegs under the floorboards instead of the traditional ones.
That would work.
Hay buddy I have this bike the sound system is not as good as the 23 cvo it really is barely ok but the rest is the best for sure just did a 1000 mile rd trip awesome
I AGREE WITH YOU ON THE EMBLEM
