- Harley Davidson Headers, are they worth it? Head Pipe, power and sound upgrade! My @harleydavidson Road Glide already had slip-on mufflers, and high flow air cleaner, and a basic tune, but the exhaust wasn't quite complete. It still needed a proper header to get the exhaust system ready for the @SSCycleInc 475C cam chest that is going into the bike this week. I went ahead and installed a @TABPerformance 2-2 head pipe to open up the system to get it ready to breathe right for the cam upgrade. Head pipes like this are "Race Use Only" and going the way of the dodo, so make sure you get yours while you still can!

I loved it when you were explaining how you clip the O2 ties, not the actual wires but the zip ties. Sounds like a question that the guy asking you to show the box would ask. "So, I snipped the O2 wires now what?". 😂

I've always enjoyed the reduced heat and added tone and punch that a better flowing header. I really notice the difference with my 21 RKS with the FM jackpot 2-1-2 headpipe and TAB 4.5s. Of course a PV tune and wow she's a ripper, and the lack of heat on that right side cooking your passenger or own right calf. Love the tone and way she runs. The Grinch is looking great and TAB makes great stuff.
I have the same Jackpot header but will be putting the Jackpot Street Outlaw mufflers in place of my Cobra neighbor haters. I'm doing a stage 2 cam swap and can't wait to get everything installed. The head pipe change I did alone, reduced felt heat enormously and the bike growls.
I did just a head pipe change. I had the stage one and then a few months later I put a Fuel moto jackpot head pipe.
I was going to thumbs up the video anyway, but the "Eye of the Tiger" reference is what got the thumbs up early. I can't get it out of my head now.

Mainly, must delete the blast furnace (cat) from the passenger foot rest. When my 14TC was new, I deleted my cat at 500 miles and did a V&H tune on it. Today, I have many mods on my scooter… there’s not much that hasn’t been upgraded and the header is still the most appreciated by Nana.

Always loved the sound of a sportster with short shots. It has that low pop to it. From back in the 70"s that's the sound that always got my attention when there were a lot if David Mann looking choppers running around. Nothing sounds like a HARLEY!!!

Hey PM, a tip I’ve found out from experience, Locktite (blue!) the two transmission cover bolts that the lower bracket mounts to. When those things loosen up, you get a trans leak that is a biotch to fix without taking off the head pipe. Nice helpful video. Thx
I’m running the Khrome Werks hide away header. Make the bike look like it’s running a stock header but it’s not. Sounds amazing
I’m a torque guy - as long as I have torque through about 4000 RPM I don’t care if it completely falls off after that, followed by feel and then sound I take it as a given that heat matters, but as I live in AZ that’s pretty much just an assumed value.
Regarding auto tune vs professionally tuned - what really matters is where you ride. I regularly ride between sea level and 8,000 feet in altitude so auto tune is pretty much mandatory for me - but if I only rode within +- 2000 feet of where I lived it would make more sense to spend the money on a good tune rather than on something that could auto tune. Personally I love the Power Vision as it gives me an onboard display of a lot of bike parameters, though if the Thundermax had an app I’d probably have bought that instead.
I put a Tab Perforamance 2-1-2 on my 2020 Road Glide over the winter (S&S MK45 mufflers and a Screamin’ Eagle Ventilator air cleaner). We did the techno research Maximus tune on it. Love the sound and, improved throttle response.

S&S makes a head pipe that has the same size diameter outlets for both mufflers. It's also a 2-1-2.

Ok so I have come to the conclusion that your videos are hazardous to ones wallet. Ive kinda jumped around since subscribing to your channel. I watched the cam install on this bike first. So now I want a 475 in mine. I then watched the wheel install on another bike so now I want wheels and now ive watched this video which now makes me want a new head pipe and possibly new mufflers from TAB Performance. Oh well it's just money. 😊

I'm enjoying my new S&S 2 into 1 sidewinder. It can be loud and can be quiet too. I like the rumble it makes when l let off the throttle and it 20 lb. Less. 103 twin cam. PS it was package Nice but no instructions in the box.

i just bought a brand new 2022 Indian Super Cheif and i like Harleys but i will never own another one. the one i had spent more time in the shop then it did on the road. the Indians can sound just like a Harly as well. but it sounds great my friend. met you and mrs. I just wanted to add that I watch your channel a lot for advice on different situations. I am a probate for a support club. I wanted to join the big MC but thought the support club would be better for now since I have a family. So here’s my question I have a diamond with the clubs numbers in it. Im told that I’m kinda a 1 percenter but I’m under a diamond club. What’s the difference? I have my diamond and top rocker with my club name and I’ll get my bottom rocker as a stepping stone. I got 4 more months until I’m full patched. Im stressed! Lol
That's a question for your brothers. An out of state or area opinion can cause more trouble than it's worth.
I did this also, used a Fullsac tuned head pipe love it, used stock shields to.
I wish my biggest worry was about the packaging...enjoy this and I know you will.
I gutted my exhaust and lost torque put dk customs torque inserts in and made a noticeable difference for the best
D Ks Thunder torque inserts are sweet! Pulled the baffles out of my MagnaFlo tru duals! Bike sounds like a beast! Noticeable torque gain !
Tabs are the best pipes I’ve ever had, they have an amazing sound, it never gets old. The perfect mix of obnoxious and mellow if need be. I’ll never buy a different brand again. Those guys deff know what they’re doing.

Just a quick question I have an aftermarket Arlen Ness high flow breather an SVG jackhammer pipes and it was tune. Now I’m going to put in the head pipe. Well I have to return.
What would be the right move to get that Harley sound out of a 2023 Street Glide EPA exhaust system? BTW, totally dig your UA-cam videos!
If you want to preserve the warranty I would just do slip on mufflers. I would recommend Tab 4" with Zombie Baffles, they're the loudest on a stock header.

Hi! Your options are going to be a bit more limited since the bike is older. It's going to sound amazing no matter what since it's an evo. I checked on Dennis Kirk and it looks like they have a bunch of options from PowerHouse. I have never run them, but it looks like the reviews are good.

I got another question. I bought a low mileage 04 Harley soft tail deuce screaming eagle. I want crash bars because I haven’t put lots of miles in so I don’t wanna drop it because it’s nice. You know how it has the spoiler with resonator in middle? Thanks
Yeah, the deuce is completely different in a lot of areas. You're gonna have to search for Deuce specific parts for sure.
Harley dealer quoted me 5 or 6 hours to install tab headers on my 50 cal slip-ons. The bike is 2022 SGS. What’s ur take? Ps love ur Videos monkey man😊
Try out SVT mufflers. I have the Jackhammers but they all sound great.

Did you swap the gaskets between headers and cilinders or not because you will be removing again for the cam? Or is it just not necessary? Thanks, going to do this to my bike next week 😅
The pipe came with new gaskets but the bike is brand new so I didn’t bother.
@professionalmonkey I would like your opinion I have a 2010 street glide stock 96ci with vance and hines power duals I have room for .45 cal and .50 cal which tab slip on would you think would be best!?
@@marshalltucker9469 the pipes are essentially the same, it’s cosmetics. It’s up to you if you would like the big 50 cal or the slightly smaller 4.5? They sound the same if that’s a factor…
Less heat with cat removal... I don't think the flow is any better. But I could be wrong :-)
Can the chin spoiler be painted to have the rest of the design of the bike?
I’m sure it can, your I like the green blank area, it matches the backs of the bags, areas on the tour pack, etc.

Did you reuse the old header pipe gaskets? If new did you use aftermarket or oem?
His bike is so new, the gaskets should also be like new. In most cases you can reuse the gaskets

after see your video's on tab exhaust i ordered there 2-1-2 head pipe. came in today 4-2-24. weld had been rewarded over bad areas after chrome work and then spread with silver paint not the quality that you where giving for video. though you would like to now.
They don't paint over welds, they don't paint at all. Something funny went on there. Call them, their products are never anything but perfect. Did you maybe order it from a third party? Call Tab directly, they don't work like that.
