  • I walked from the village of Patterdale, skirting below Angle Tarn Pikes towards Hartsop and up towards Haweswater.
    I set off knowing that the weather conditions were set to be horrendous, but had still hoped I could get hover il to pitch a tent.
    Unfortunately I had a bit of a drama losing my phone in the Ghyll and lost precious time looking for it! This meant I settled for a spot next the the tarn, which was probably just as well as the weather really came in no sooner than when I arrived.
    I settled down and cooked a lovely steak washed down with a beer or two with the wind bashing the tent most of the evening.
    The following day was in total contrast. Blue skies and glorious sunshine so I went up to the Knott and back down again to Patterdale via Satura Crags, Brock Crags and Angle Tarn. Enjoy and thanks for watching.

    I've been hiking, camping and wild camping in the lakes for a bit over 40yrs now but still enjoy watching videos because you can always learn something new, I actually prefer watching the smaller UA-cam channels. Better content I think. Stop twisting them hotlips you'll knack them 😂. Cracking spot 😉

    Nicely filmed and enjoyable. You’ve now got another subscriber. I’ve just jumped on the UA-cam band wagon myself and it’s certainly a learning curve. Can I ask is that the DJI mic 2 you are using? ATB Karl

      Hi mate. Thanks for watching. Yeah it’s the DJI mic 2. Works well, bit there can be a bit of a delay quite often when connecting via bluetooth and that’s with the DJI action 4 as well.

      @@boolay75 Thanks for replying, I’ve got the same camera DJI Action 4 and just deciding whether to get the mic on its own or mic / receiver combo, there’s definitely mixed reviews about the Bluetooth connection. 🤔 Thanks again 👍

    Loved the cooking in a tent section. Very impressive. I'm seriously debating buying the Pioneer 2 as a Year round Bikepacking and Backpacking tent. The concerns I have from reading reviews are 1. the inner is too flappy? 2 The corner pegging points are not very good! 3, You get a lot of condensation! 4. I also concerned it might be too warm for summer camping ( This is a major reason for getting rid of my current tent + its tiny). What are your thoughts? what do you think are it's strengths and weaknesses. I was also looking at the more expensive Fjallraven ABISKO Lite 2 which I noticed you also have. How does that compare with this tent.

    • @boolay75
      @boolay75  Місяць тому +1

      Hello mate. The Pioneer 2 is a really good all rounder. It’s got its pros and cons as you’ve mentioned. I’ve not really had any issues with it apart from when you pitch it can be a slight faff, you’re right there’s something a bit odd about the corners.
      In comparison the abisko is a far better tent and worth the extra money if you can get the b grade option that I’ve got. Appreciate it’s £150 more but the quality, ease of pitching and options mean it’s worth it for me.

    • @ianmatlock1
      @ianmatlock1 Місяць тому

      @@boolay75Thanks for the prompt response and sorry to push the point but how do you do with the height of the Abisko? On some video of it the people inside seem to be bent over as though it's not very high. One of the things I hate with my current tunnel tent. It is in fact the main thing putting me off the tent. PS I think I can get a B version abisko shape for a good price if its not too long)

      @ianmatlock1 it’s lower at the tail end for wind resistance so not great headroom there. Vestibule end you’ve got a decent amount of clearance though, I’m 5’11 and can sit up comfortably even on a mat. I did like the room in the pioneer, it’s just right as a one person tent.

  • @craigy1872
    @craigy1872 4 місяці тому

    Just found your channel and enjoyed this video.
    How do you find the pioneer2 ? I was considering it as a 1 man but have learned that it may have issues with the inner touching the outer at the non vestibule side ?

    • @boolay75
      @boolay75  4 місяці тому

      Thanks. I think it’s the perfect size for 1. Enough room but not too big to squeeze in tight spaces and good head height, and packs away small but I’d say it’s a 1.5 person.
      I don’t really have a problem with the fly touching the inner but I know a lot of people comment on that. It’s a great all rounder tent in my opinion
