Interesting about the smell of strand board in sectional kits. Glue? Great idea to prime/seal and dry wood before assembly. You girls are a real inspiration to us inexperienced, low confidence DIYers!
Wow once again, another really amazing video, loved seeing how you put everything together Steph, and I agree that painting the wood was a great idea because of the smell of the wood, which is understandable. I am really loving seeing this sectional sofa and how it turned out. Thanks again for sharing this video, hope you have a great rest of your week, sending love and hugs, bye for now.🥰💜
Maybe I missed it, but what’s the benefit of painting all the wooden pieces and not just the visible parts (like inside and top of the storage compartments)? Thanks!
What was the purpose of painting the wood since it doesn't show? Asking cause I just ordered a sectional from them so I'm wondering if there was a purpose to this step prior to be putting mine together... thanks in advance
The unfinished wood has a smell so painting it helped seal it and not smell. Also, the inside is storage so you will see that when you store things in it. But painting is not a requirement at all.
We just used leftover paint we had. It was a Behr white primer. I don't think you need to use anything special, but we did find it was better if we thinned the paint a little bit. It went on smoother.
Would you build a sofa?

It looks really great and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all comes together!! I think we all can see how much the pups love it! ❤️
Thank you for doing this video, it helped me get this project done.

You guys are amazing, I would like to see you guys make an outdoor stove.
You really did an amazing job!

It helps seal the particle board and cuts down on the smell of the wood.

What did you use to paint/seal the wood? We were thinking of doing the same thing to ours but unsure what type of paint to try.

We used this to thin the paint, Floetrol Latex Paint Additive (affiliate link): amzn.to/3uTNebK
Thank you so much!!
Is this comfortable to sleep on?
Yes, I have slept on it. I pushed the ottomans next to it so I had more space.
