First of all, Walk was really one of the only rock songs in the nominations since they added songs that really weren't "rock performances" and secondly, the simplistic yet beautiful lyrics, and the overall musicality was better than all the other nominees' songs

You can't stop Dave Grohl. First, he's a great drummer in a great band (Nirvana) that people will remember forever. Next, he's lead singer and a guitar player in ANOTHER great band that people will remember for even longer than forever (Foo Fighters). Finally, he's in a great supergroup playing drums (Them Crooked Vultures). This guy has cemented himself in music history as one of the greats. Long live Grohl, may he "never die" as this song says.

Every time I watch the Foos, I can't help but think in amazement how every musician in that band is so perfect for the style of music they perform. You're right about Pat, and Nate is a badass bass player as well. I guess if I were a member of that band I'd be loving life. They all obviously enjoy what they're doing. What could be better?
