And yes there was nothing like it before on the recorded medium but since there gave been milliond Lead breaks up to this point were blues/rock roll riffs. This stripped down version showcases how all 3 guitarists were at the top of their game.

    After studying classical Indian music for a couple of years I can go back and listen to this song that came out when I was a little kid and see how they use the construction of a raga for the melody of the guitars and the normal way of ending a song in India. phrase times three to the beat string which is a Chikara. Low string here a low E but on a sitar it’s a high string much like a banjo. Just saying they were already doing world music in 1965 courtesy of George studying

    • @timewrath7723
      @timewrath7723 3 роки тому +3

      how exactly does the melody have raga characteristics? It seems to lack the dissonance imo for it to be raga, i was just a bit confused about that

      Musicologists have identified classical European influences in the melody, not Indian.

    • @patricksmith4424
      @patricksmith4424 Рік тому

      Very good point. On the previous album Rubber soul, George was showing his Sitar skills on Norwegian wood. Playing the Sitar would undoubtedly have influenced George in his guitar playing also. As this was a duet, it was never made clear Paul's influence in the composition either. It's often thought that the whole Beatles and India thing was around 1968. But Norwegian wood just shows you how George anyway was deeply involved in it by 1965.This is my favourite lead break ever!

It was only on their last record of Abbey Road they ever really at the very end showed who was who by the different playing styles and sound that you can hear which was Paul and which was George.
