Next James Bond movie: More Time To SLAP
SkyBass
Or SlapFall
No, make One Piece Inrtos! Please, one off IT!
No time to slap!
Slap another day
Golden slap!
It’s not even his skill anymore that impresses me but the fact that Charles can still give that drive to a bass solo and still make me vibe to it every time, I think his composition is very overlooked when compared to his technique!
That's because he actually knows music theory. And knowing is half the battle. He's def got the skills to back it up. Full package right there.
@@freedustin 100%
The exact point I've made before! Charles is that rare bassist who is still a pleasure to listen to despite being a technical master. He somehow mixes raw talent, theory, and ear perfectly every single time. He's def my #1 bassist alive today. I wonder what he'll do next? He can't make youtube vids the rest of his life. He's too young!
You cannot imagine the faces i make.
All while wrangling that headphone cable!
that james bond chord at the end was 🔥
I know it's one of your favourites 😎
Cliffhanger chord
eyyy legend to legend
@@CharlesBerthoud Insane slapping = I sleep. EmMaj9 chord = real shit.
Minor major chords are my ish
"Do you expect me to talk?"
"No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to SLAP."
This guy's corny sense of humor combined with his amazing skills is just fantastic.
Not corny just British insightful witty often ironic and self-deprecating observation unique to British humour and attitude, often not to American taste and its need for swear words. Fortunately there´s room for both in this world but I know which style I prefer
@@39richy Make sure you don’t pull something while you’re patting yourself on the back there.
as a brit, your coming across a bit arrogant there richard
@@39richy His humour is embarrassingly shite.
@@39richy yikes. Get out of your flat and socialize, mate.
“Always getting himself into treble”😏
😏
Hey great staff pal.
Treble clef? Or a typo?
@@datsolaris that’s the joke
@@mr.s6661 oh sorry lol
GoldCharles: "Any last requests?"
Charles: "Dry martini. Slapped, not stirred."
*Cue epic bass*
Epic line, I lol'd.
How about "slapped not strummed"
🎸
More of a “poor chap, always getting himself into treble” fan myself
Nice touch the clock ending at 0.07 seconds, man the details...
Saved by the bell
That joke at 4:29 killed me 🤣 Great work 007
Agree: perfectly done (like something else I could mention 😏)
That's given me flashbacks to a gig where the plan for the intro was for the guitarist and violinist to do a rope descent dressed in tuxedos from a balcony while me (bass) and the drummer played the dum diddle dum dum bit of the Bond theme. Violinist got his rope tangled, couldn't get down, all the audience could see was his swinging legs... me and the drummer just kept on playing this Bond riff for about ten minutes until they untangled him... possibly the most Spinal Tap moment of my playing career....
That sounds like a great gig regardless.
hilarious!
🤣🤣
We want the video link now
That's too funny.
Tops all my career stories. 😂
"Poor chap, always getting himself into treble." I see what you did there.
That was exceptionally BAD ASS! The "Always getting himself into treble” line was even more so! You are a world class bass assassin, 007! With a funky license to kill!
You could say he's a BASSassin
"There's more to bass than just fingerstyle exercises you know."
"Yes, I have been told I have more than enough talent in that department."
😂😏
Bass... James Bass . I'll take my bass, slapped... not picked... that's illegal!
Hes got a license to kill so I dont think he cares about legal or not
With 0.07 seconds remaining! You certainly have the Goldeneye and the Goldfinger to SLAP that bass, Sir Charles. I'm thankful that it was For Your Eyes Only for The World Is Not Enough for that View To a Kill. If Tomorrow Never Dies, I'll gladly Die Another Day so I can once more hear The Man With the Golden Bass!
Holy shit! That’s like a lifetime of funk being squeezed into less than 4 minutes. Really dope! I’m surprised his right hand fingers are not completely covered with blisters by now considering all the intense slapping and tapping going on here.
3:46 And the timer also stopped at 00.07. Well played James Bass. 😂
My personal funkometer exploded at 2:40
His playing is so funky that it started filling the meter before the music started
I mean the funk level is through the roof!!!!!!!!
I may have injured my neck from all the head bobbing 😅
Just amazing 🤩
Because of you I picked up my bass again and I started enjoying playing again. Thanks for all the fun videos charles! Keep up the amazing work!
That's great to hear, have fun!
Don't pick it slapp it
sorry to ignore the meme but picking or finger style is fine. Not everything calls for slapp.
@@zachlewis9751 true even tho it is funky anything can be overpowering in excess
@@bastianrhone9390 Exactly. Don't always need br br ding for your base line.
As if James Bond needed any more reason to be the legend he is! Awesome work man!
Thanks!
@@CharlesBerthoud Cheers!
The end part with the sparks was cool. I had a dream almost exactly like that once. I had to get off of a spaceship and the only weapon I had was a guitar, but no pick, so I couldn’t break the walls of the spaceship. Then I found a bass and I was able to slap a bit and did some damage but still couldn’t breach the walls. Finally, somehow, I got a guitar pick and I was able to shred and slice through the walls of the space ship and jumped out back down to earth.
lmao thats nice
This is freaking incredible on every level - the playing, the arrangement, the tone, all of it. This dude is phenomenal.
the bass solo was great, ending on 0.007 was amazing. The segue to the sponsor was in a league of its own.
Segue*
@@AndyU96 thanks...dunno how that q made it in there!
STILL one of the best f___ing bassists out there! 👏🏻
THE BEST
Funking he is;)
OMG
Wait! Who's better?
@@mrcrowly11 Charles 🤘🏻
This guy deserves a 00 status. He kills it with superlative cool.
This guy straight up jams
That was the absolute best sponsor segway I've ever seen, well done. (The solo was pretty good too)
For anyone who didn't catch that I was downplaying the solo for the joke, obviously the solo was great as usual. Can't wait to see more!
I WAS LITERALLY ABOUT TO SAY THAT ABOUT HIS SEGWAY! NOTHING MORE PERFECT THAN USING THAT PART FOR ADS 🤣🤙
You need to do the Ninja Turtles theme next because you're the Shredder! Amazing work.
Love the mixture of dry humor and pure skill. Also above all that, you have so much groove! It’s awesome to listen to and bop along
I love how Charles is just sitting around playing bass before the bad guy walks in on him. LMAO!
This is some of the crunchiest, dankest bass-playing since Sailing the Seas of Cheese. Dayum.
He wasn't just playing any bass before the bad guy walked in, he was playing U Can't Hold No Groove by Victor Wooten! Always funky!
I would watch an entire movie of this, so good!
This already is my favorite James Bond movie 😂
HOLY F@€&!!! If Charles isn’t the best, then I simply lack the ability to discern who is. Simply amazing bass here!
THE BEST
Check out this upcoming bassist Tiago Andree. Quite technical and clean. One of my faves next to Charles.
@@chriscan6584 but still charles is no. 1
Whoa! That was outstanding! Excellent work.
That was as funky as hell. Such a great video and such amazing musicianship. I can't tell you how much I liked this!
"Always getting himself into treble" i couldnt stop sniggering at that. Great vid as always!
Sniggering? Lmao 🤣 you mean snickering? Not trying to be a smart ass it just legit made me laugh 😆
Very Cool! And the arrangement as a whole is fire! We are waiting for new covers! Fan and Russia
From Russia with love, it would seem?
@@andrewdavidson4595 From Russia with groove ;)
The love the funky bass sound.... The bass has always been my weapon of choice....
I loved that cover of cant hold no groove in the beginning. Absolutely love it when you play victor wooten.
The villain looked "cheezy"
Literally!
Sharp cheddar
Dipped in liquid cheese
I thought he looked like Roger Moore! 😄
Dude this is one of the best ones you did in a while. That was simply sick.
I don't know man... Barbie Girl was pretty heavy 🤘🤘
What impresses me is not just the precision, but also the richness of the arrangement. Very, very well done. Congratulations!
Love yourr relaxed manner. Breathing iz excellent. Makes the hard stuff sound Effortless. Well; that and countless hours in the woodshed. Bravo mate.
hahaha the frekin one month of free trial killed me. Smoothest transition ever
Awesome stuff, always amazing to see what you can do with originally simple songs.
Damn man, wish I had even 1% of that skill! Cool cover. Bass makes everything better.
I just recently discovered your channel. I love how you can show your playing skills and entertain us on other ways while playing!
“Poor chap, always getting himself into treble…” 😂
And this dude just gets better and better. Jeeez Charles, you make all our instruments leave us laughing on the way out.
In addition to how good your playing usually is this is probably the funniest video ive seen from you yet. So good i chose to even watch your sponsored section because you put it at the end of such a good video :)
Only two words describe my listening experience to this guy: pure joy! The humor in which he packs his performance is refreshing too 🙂
Acting level double-oh-my! Good work man! Love it.
A pleasure to watch, Mr Bass, as always! And Chapeau Bas(s) for that bit of Palpatine at the end 😜🤣
I enjoy all your videos Charles. You are an amazing musician , and so upbeat. Thank you for all the hard work and creativity you put in your videos and amazing style. Stay real and don't sweat the rest.:-):-):-)
Wow! That last chord gave me goosebumps.
Very well done, sir, as always.
Keep up the good work!
Charles can take any piece and make me want to hear it on repeat for the next 24 hours straight
That was pretty damn good. I can only imagine the hours and hours you've put into getting to this skill level. Very cool stuff.
There's so much stank on that solo i can't even smell anymore...
Who am I kidding... I'll vibe to that stank all day
Very nice.....and i love how you spared no expense on the special effects.......
Outstanding! I have a serious soft spot for James Bond themes! Good thing you already have a native British accent to support it! Well done chap!
English accent. There are three countries in Britain all with totally different accents
@@ironnads7975and many different accents within each country !!!!!
Actually, I think you'll find that the Golden Pick is slightly inferior to the Pick Of Destiny. Thanks for the video, Charles!
Charles this was my favorite one ever dude. I love your vids and they're getting better and better. I appreciate the video editing skills too! The little zoom pulses on the beat were a great touch
THANK YOU! This is one of the greatest things I've heard in a while! I've always loved the Bond theme! My two favorite versions have always been the original (of course), and the tympani-driven version from Golden Eye! Now, I do believe there's a third on that list!
"Always getting himself into treble" got me
@AYAMI Go away
Someone give this guy an oscar!
He can perform his 'slap' bass at the presentations. 😁
Man. I Don’t have enough words to complement you.
Amazing artist!!!
Impressive!!!!
Those little smiley faces though!!!! They get me every time :D
If this was the greatest bass solo ever... Charles' next vid: "This is not, the greatest solo in the world, this is just a tribute." 🤘🏼
You got a licence to slap 😆
Incredible! Just discovered your channel and just subscribed. My what a deep rabbit hole this will be. Cheers!
Your just too good. You never seize to amaze me. You literally make me wanna bin all of my basses. And the videos are amazing quality as well as the bass playing
Hey James,
what ever you do, I want you to remember this here. You can't hold no grove if you ain't got no pocket.
Disclaimer: I haven't the faintest idea what that means.
I'm gonna say it... He is the best since Wooten
This actually made my day! Such a cool video bro and amazing chops of course
Amazing solo and one of the best ad segues I've ever seen. Subscribed.
"Dry martini. Slaped, not stirred" is probably a cooler line than the last two James Bond films together
amazing talent from God !
Perfectly aligned windings up at the head! Love it!!
You can't hold no groove if you aint got no pocket at the beggining💯💥
"London will be destroyed"
Me: yeah that's great but I still kinda here some bass
Little Spanish girl: porque no Los dos?
La chica es muy mal
Best of You Tube! That was phenomenal!! Extraordinary talent, really. Thanks for the entertainment and the inspiration.
I love this, especially the last chord
Sick and beautiful at the same time! You are a great arranger! So tasteful!
I love how creative you are and how you always make such funny small stories in your videos :D
That was so great! We enjoyed this video very much THANK YOU!
Incredible!! Thanks So much for your amazing videos! I laughed So hard and am also completely blown away by your talent!!
Charles you just continue to amaze us. Fantastic!
Absolutely Amazing. Love it 👍👍👍👍👍
Well played! Seriously......The acting, the execution and the delivery! Perfectly entertaining!
Wow Charles.......enjoyed it so much!
Nice cover. Love the challenges. Keep the curve high! Respect all the hard "innovative" work
incredible as always
Even better the 2nd time around! I don't even remember the somewhat risqué finger-style joke from the first time I watched the video. Bravo!
Simply amazing! I could watch it the whole day
Ridiculous. Best bassist ever. No matter how fast and complicated these arrangements, it’s the musicality and feel that are just on another level.
This is some world class playing!
My hat is off to you, good sir!
Every video you'veever made has made my day better. Thanks James Bass
THAT.WAS.AWESOME!!!!
You've made a subscriber out of me and this video is so spectacular - the playing, the skill, the funkiness, and how effing funny the whole thing is - all while paying homage to everyone's favorite secret agent - if there was a Hall of Fame of all time most entertaining videos, this would be one of the first inducted! And it stands the test of time. Repeat viewings months apart are just as enjoyable. This is truly a work of fine art.
Top-notch work, Mr. Goldfinger-style :D
