Finally, we show you how to link it with a Ring Alarm system via z-wave to allow you to check its status and lock and unlock it from your smartphone.
Want to add some smart security to your front door? In this video we show you how to quickly and easily install a Kwikset Smartcode 913 Deadbolt. How to REKEY your lock (if you want to use old keys with your new Kwikset Smartcode Deadbolt):
Step 1 - Open the door and position the deadbolt in the locked position. The deadbolt should be sticking out of the door.
Step 2 - Insert the default key that came with your new Kwikset lock. Rotate 90 degrees clockwise.
Step 3 - Insert the SmartKey tool fully and firmly into the SmartKey hole. (The tool may click inside the lock). Remove the SmartKey tool first and then remove the key without rotating.
Step 4 - Insert the key you'd like to switch to and make sure the key is fully inserted. Without pushing or pulling the key, rotate it 180 degrees counter-clockwise. Rotate it back 180 degrees clockwise and pull gently to make sure it will not come out in this position. Rotate the key 90 degrees counter-clockwise and remove it from the lock. You have successfully re-keyed your lock!

You did an excellent job of explaining the battery drop to calibration the lock. That cleared up everything thing why my D rod was not lining😊 up
Thank you, glad it helped you out. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.
Thank you!!! What a great video for us occasional non-confident do-it-yourselfers. I’m sold!
Thank you from a Senior Citizen not so skilled DIYer. My lock is installed successfully and even re-keyed. Succinct & easy to follow video.
Glad it helped, thank you for watching and leaving a comment.
I have this lock, and my batteries died. I could not find my paperwork on this particular electronic lock. But by searching through UA-cam, I found your video and could identify that my lock is the same as the one you were using. Glad you had this posted. I was able to replace the new batteries not knowing I had to press the lock button when I drop the battery pack in the unit. I’m definitely going to write the name of my lock in a file so next time I know what I’m dealing with. Thanks again.
Installed my new electronic dead bolt lock today. Couldn't have done it without your video. Thanks.

Articulate and directly to the point!
Outstanding tips on each step, and that only comes with experience. Thank you!
LOL press the lock button while installing the battery. The computer is smarter than I am! I changed my door from lh to rh and took the whole lock apart before getting smart and looking up how to do it. 😊
What you did for the bottom lock? If you want to enter house. Do you need to key in the first lock and use physical key in the second lock to get inside!
Turn the unneeded knob into a dummy knob: Remove the knob with the lock, remove the bolt, replace the knob without the bolt. Or...
Replace the knob with another type of non-locking latch. Or...
Live with a locking knob that try to remember not to lock...unless you want to use that lock as a secondary security when you travel (incase you want to keep people out who may have an entry code but you don't necessarily want to disable their access).
I don't know if that covers all answers, but I hope that helps with a few ideas.
Excellent video!
Thanks for the detailed installation guide. I installed mine and heard a loud clicking sound, thought it was faulty, but sounds like you ahve the same loud clickling sound when it retracts
works 100% thank you
Thanks
Thank you
Nice
Did the key that you used to change your key to operate with another key come with this kit? I want to keep my second knob with key and add this
You have to use the key that comes with your new lock to re key the other locks. If not you can take it to Lowes or somewhere like that and they can re key the lock for you.
Does the keypad light up when you push on the Numbers?? Mine isn't lighting up.
Your dip switch for the lighting is set to off most likely
Hi sir have the smart lock on by home door but I have lost my keys but I can open with my code, so how to reset with the new key with not having my key
Do I have to cut the door if my current deadbolt doesn’t have the latch? Can the latch be removed?
You may have to change the deadbolt but you don't have to cut the door. On the inside of the lock should be 2 screws that will remove the lock from the door. Hope that helps, but defiantly do not cut your door.
It's pretty loud when it opens and closes. That's normal for these locks?
How do you get it connected to your phone 📱
How to auto lock it?
Please and Thank you.
There are 4 dipswitches on the board where you program, if you look at the cover one of them is to turn off the sound, one to turn off the light, one to autolock after 30 seconds, cant remember off the top of my head what the other is for.
it didn’t work when i put the numbers in and then pressed the lock it just flashes red all the time when i keep trying it
www.kwikset.com/support There is a phone number at the bottom of the page, call them, they have really good tech support. Most likely need to "Factory reset" the lock and start from scratch, but call them they should be able to solve the problem. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.
