This video shows how to easily reset or program a Kwikset Powerbolt 2 deadbolt door lock. How to use the programming chart that comes with the lock. Follows all the steps to reset the lock back to its original factory defaults. Change the Master code, adding new user codes, deleting user codes along with how to enable the Auto Locking feature. For SECURITY reasons I show you how to change the factory Master Code and delete the factory User Code so that criminals can not enter using those well known codes. If you have a problem I have listed some solutions below.
DISCLAIMER: I am not associated with Kwikset or any lock company nor am I a locksmith. Be sure to read and follow all safety instructions that came with the lock. If there are any conflicts between what I have said and those instructions from the factory always do what the factory says.
I read all comments but I do not reply due to the many requests for help. Please refer all problems to Kwikset or to the place you purchased the lock from. I have listed some solutions to address the most commonly asked for help concerns.
PROBLEMS can be 1 of 3 Categories: Software; Hardware or Defects.
1) Check to make sure you have FRESH BATTERIES.
2) If you have any problems Always start at the beginning and RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULTS.
3) The MASTER CODE (MC) does NOT open the lock only the USER CODE (UC) opens the lock.
(the Master Code is a like a password to change, delete, or create new USER CODES)
4) HARDWARE: If its a newly installed lock, problems might be an alignment issue or something
like the left or right knob not set up correctly. Refer to the installation instructions that came with
with the lock.
5) DEFECT: Refer to Kwikset or the place you purchased the lock from.

I spend so much time wasted on the factory manual on how to program this thing. Almost gave up and about to uninstall and returned to home depot. Until i watched this. He made it so easy to understand and so clear. Thanks for making this video.

The thing that tripped me up for about 20 minutes was thinking the "Master Code" was used to lock/unlock the lock. Once I figured out its the code to gain access to the rest of the settings for the lock this tutorial was amazing.

I watched another YT vid on how to install the lock and do the initial programming. It worked perfectly. I then read over the instructions to learn how to do additional programming and was immediately lost. Your vid made everything so easy, and more importantly, covered the part about deleting the factory UC. Thank you!
So glad I found your video. I wanted my lock to go back to auto locking. I did the factory reset and the lock was not working. Didn't know I had to program it to lock. Got that done. Never gave a second thought to criminals using the factory 1 2 3 4 user code. Removed that. I'm a safe happy camper now. Thank you so much!

I couldn't make sense of the directions they made them over complicated. Of course once you learn it just like anything it becomes easy. But for most of us this is are first time installing something like this. You made the process very understandable and less stressful with how you spoke and how you enlarged the process diagram. Much clearer now! However, instead of putting in all of those codes ill simply do one for the chauffeur and he can just open the servants entrance door as they arrive. Had to fire my cook because she served high tea at 3:30PM!!! Lol..very informative, cant wait to try this on the new lock....
