I’ve been feeding my frog by hand with tongs, since he didn’t take very well to the sinking food, and I swear to god, one time, he sTRAIGHT UP TRIED EATING SWALLOWING THE TONGS. Like, his mouth was all the way around the edge, and I had to PRY his face off with a kebab stick. I’ve NEVER BEEN MORE SCARED FOR A PET IN MY LIFE 😂😂

I thought my dwarf frog was dumb at 1st. I heard they were scavengers so when I dropped blood worms in the tank and he didn't eat any of it off the ground I was like wtf. So I scoop some worms on the tip of a wooden chopstick and feed him at the surface of the water. Him and my Beta are always going at it. He even tried to attack this giant 🐌 in my tank. I was like dude that snail is wayyyyy to big for you buddy.

I got my frog from a school project for ecology class where we made a micro ecosystem with snails, algae, some free-floating aquatic plants, and some other various micro fauna (water worms and tiny shrimp, like almost microscopic) it's self-sustaining so I don't have to put food for him he just scavenges through the small bits of plant matter and debris at the bottom (there's a lot of small bits of the floating plant that sync to the bottom, I think the shrimp might hide in there as well as in the plant), it's in a wide, jar like container that's no more than a third of a foot tall
Edit: he is an African dwarf frog btw

These ADFs are the cutest little animals. It is now Sept. 2019, and I got 1 female and 2 males (tiny little babies from the pet store) in April 2012 into my pretty much freshly set up 5 galon tank, together with a male Betta. They got along absolutely great, but the 2 male frogs and the Betta died a couple of years ago during an incredible heat wave that went on for weeks, I was not able to keep the temp. down, because I've had to work. The female - always very much larger than the 2 males - and the 2 males mated uncounted times and she layed a lot of eggs, I tried to make some hideaways for the little ones, but due to too many hours at work I was not able to able to perform the necessary care to keep them alive/not getting eaten by their parents and the Betta. The amazing frog-lady not only survived during the terrible heat wave, she is still in amazing shape and mood! I still have her (now all by herself) in the same 5 galon tank. No heater, only a filter, that does NOT get changed each month, as the filter selling industry likes to dictate, I change as I see the need for it, and do random partial water changes, clean the inside of the glass. The tank contains many plants, and the best idea was putting a little cut-off with roots from a Pothos hanging into the tank. The thin roots grew incredibly fast and created a wonderful environment for my little frog lady. The leaves of the Pothos are growing outside and around the bottom of the tank, it looks wonderful, sometimes I cut the roots in the tank a little bit back, so the frog lady can do her daily exercise. I never thought that these tiny ADFs are so resilient, the work one has to do is minimal, the feeding is very easy: frozen blood worms (served into a miniature clay dish), with 1 or 2 fasting days/week. She comes out of her jungle whenever I tap with the long tweezer against the glass, I feed her mostly shortly before the light of the tank turns off, she still has enough light from the table lamp close to the tank, to forage. She is hardly out during the day, but she comes when I tap at the glass. I love watching sometimes the older videos of them mating, the Beta also made sometimes a bubble nest, and the frogs interacting - looked sometimes like they were playing - with the Beta. He was always curious to see what they were doing. Anyhow, my advice: contain yourself with changing the filter monthly, you don't do your ADFs a favor. After 7 1/2 yrs I can say that leaving the tank alone as much as possible - besides feeding - is the best what one can do. Enjoy your ADF, I gladly took a lot of pictures and videos over the years, too bad the frog lady is not interested in watching her former 2 guys with me. LOL

I have 4 frogs with 2 bettas and a variety of fish in a 10 gallon, not a big variety only neon tetras, 2 guppies, and 6 dwarf gourami, they get along well and I figured out how to feed them without disrupting each other, I know it’s small but I’ve been observing and if they act irrationally then I know it’s time for a bigger setup, I love these tiny guys they give me a purpose, aquatic pets are on another level it’s an ecosystem that you build from the ground up, I recommend any newbies to get into the hobby with a minimum of $300 to keep a happy tiny aquarium :)

I just got one a lady was rehoming along with an angel fish and two tetras. I put the fish in my big tank and put the frog in a separate fully planted aquarium. I went and got two more frogs from Petco so he would have some friends. The frogs live with a bunch of snails and I saw one of the frogs try to eat a snail lol 😆

Thanks for this video! I currently have a 5 gallon with 3 tiny goldfish in it (they are each about 1/2 an inch long). I read that goldfish and african dwarfs are not good tank companions. I was thinking of moving the goldfish and getting some african dwarfs for the tank along with a betta. How can you tell if the betta and frogs are happy together? I know bettas can sometimes be aggressive, did you ever have any problems between your betta and frogs?

It makes me so sad though, because where I bought them has them in a little thing that is most definitely less than a gallon, pretty much nowhere to hide, & with instructions to feed them only 2 pellets each twice a WEEK. It is insane and i feel horrible for them and the other frogs they were selling like that & having the audacity to say theyd live HAPPILY like that. 1. Can you use fish stress coat in the water or will that hurt them
    2. Would it be ok to keep 2 of them with 3 neon tetras, 6 ghost shrimp, and a snail in a ten gallon?
