Yeah, buddy! Love this track(I love all of his track). Ya know, he produces all of his solo albums these days, including this one. I know what you mean about his syllabic placement. It's so precise and meticulously crafted. He knows exactly how he wants the rhythm of his flow to sound and he executes flawlessly.
I'd love to see you react to the collab he did with Lupe Fiasco, called Pumpkin Seeds. Two masters of the art of rapping on one track. Awesome stuff

@@cozmikoi I’ve been a fan of his since Float and SWFG might be my favorite album from him now. I fell off from checking for him and came back to that and damn. He’s somehow gotten so much better than he was on Fast Cars and I already loved him.

Hey man. I love your Aesop content. I really enjoy your analyses of his work. "There be dragons" is something they used to put on medieval maps to show uncharted (dangerous) territories.

I was looking to extrapolate on this as well, I think the term is "here thar be dragons". Basically just means the unknown or danger in this region. So if your address "addy" is in the heart of "thar be dragons", you're not living in a very great space haha

Like he's in Space? Reminds me of the Aes EP, Freedom Finger, track Play Dead. It was a soundtrack he did for a video game of the same name, and Play Dead is written schemed around being a pilot of a ship in space.

He's number one period
I think it’s important to view the tracks on this record based on the theme of the album. Check out the Gates track.
The whole album is a guide to the other side. In this track, he continually refers to himself as some sort of dark energy. It’s part of the guide to understand the spirit world. And the chorus talks about not blocking out the unknown energies from the spirit world.
You almost have to react to the entire album to understand the content of the individual tracks.
Interesting take, thanks. Some background on this song. It comes from a concept album about Aes experiencing a spiritual journey in South America and Asia. This song is roughly in the middle of the album after songs about entering the spirit world. (The Gates) Another interpretation is about the struggle of going through completely novel experiences. Aes is resisting but the only way is to accept and “let it in.” One of the things often taught prior to spiritual journeys is to avoid fighting the experience. I think that struggle is well described in this song. He’s basically tripping balls and describing the struggle, but the spirit world could be a metaphor for more than just a difficult ayahuasca ceremony.

@@SaeedReacts. Sorry, that's just inaccurate. Google his name and hit "images". You'll recognize some. He's an artist that created the cover/poster art for A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Hitchcock movies, etc. Used shapes and stylized fonts of letters for effect. Improvising on something so familiar and routine. Hence the line about making it jazzy.
The best line is the one before, about life finding a way to thrive in the worst of conditions. "Tall grass, asphalt to salt flat." Life finds new ways.
