you can basically feel from viewing how much it misses torque compared to a more modern 2l turbo (also that gearbox does not help), but what a nice sound and feel at the top end.
@@its_albo0144 You are all wrong and right at the same time. In the US market, N52 comes as a 3L engine always just with detuned versions. In the EU, 325i pre-facelift is 2.5L engine - but still N52!. These N52B25 engines are famous for oil consumption issues. I own one, and it uses around 1L/2000km, other than that its really a great engine and joy to drive!
Got the e91 facelift in white as 320d 184 hp manual, same milage. Living around Frankfurt. Can't compete that acceleration in a plain straight though I love the thrust whilst the turbo kicks in... torque like table mountain between 1,75-2,75 Amazing if it goes uphill Autobahn ... eating small 2l gas turbos w/ even more nominal bhp for breakfast Can I turn back time and get the same one in the condition it was and still is, but w/ the straight 6 - 3l manual gearbox? That must be awesome, if you got one, keep it 4ever! 😉 I would drive that one for another 15 yrs as the e36 c4 I bought when I was 19 🥰😅
Does the 2.5 feel good? Obviously the 3.0 will have much better oomph but it will cost more. Would you feel a significant difference in power and torque compared to mazda 3 2.0 liter with 165hp?
The 2.5 feels good at higher revs above 5,000. Below that there is not enough torque. If I could choose I'll always take the 3.0 though the 2.5 isn't bad. I had never driven a mazda 3 2.0 so I have no experience with this car.
It depends on the dimension of the coolant system. For example the BMW E60 525d stays at round about 93 C no matter how long you drive top speed at full throttle. You can measure it in the secret menu. I think the engine got a good thermal efficiency. Other cars like the Opel Vectra 1.6 75 PS petrol engine raise coolant temparature at full throttle as you can see in my video. After 10 min of top speed I felt it is better for the engine to slow down for a while.
Automatic transimission really kills this engine. My car is exactly the same as in the video (E91 N52B25) but with manual transmission. It has better performance
It's such a pleasure to hear a BMW that actually sounds like a BMW!
Love a 6 cylinder estate/wagon
what a gorgeous engine!
Absolut tolles Auto mit Saugmotor!
Wenn sie nur würden solche Autos noch bauen!
Love with BMW sound
Top speed during all the video !! Nice
Your BEST video since I've clicked on "subscribe". Thank you!
Good job, nice to see it do 0-100k too

NICE top speed run
Thank you! It was great fun.
Schöner N52, hätte nicht gedacht das der die 250 Tacho als Kombi packt. Mein E92 mit dem N53 geht nicht viel besser. 👌
The famous N52B25 sucked 1 Ltr oil during this video for sure!
Not really. It runs on 0w40 and needs round about 0.5 ltr/5000km. But I know there are engines of this type with oil consumption issues.
This is not a n52b25. A n52 has a 3l
No. The N52 is a 2.5l. N53 is a 3.0l
@@lavinsegre no n52 is a 3l engine. I have a 530xi with the n52b30 it is a 3l engine.

Do you ever see the cars rise coolant temp on top speed runs?

@@NoSpeedLimitGermany thanks great info. I imagine the oil temp being an issue then
