So happy to see you’re back to building combat robots. You’re ideas for bots are always so interesting and Taco Tuesday is no exception! I look forward to seeing it compete.
This is by the weirdest design and execution of a combat robot I have seen yet, and I am HERE for it. I would be curious to see how far you can take this concept outside of the meme chassis as well.
For this video I tried to focus less on details of the assembly (i.e. "motor A goes here") and more on the creative process. There are plenty of videos on how to assemble an antweight, but fewer videos on how to come up with new designs. Here I forced creativity by starting with an intentionally dumb and restrictive premise (the purse), and then worked from there. This lead me to a novel design without even trying.
For this project, I stopped here... but if you wanted to you could then remove the dumb premise (a robot shaped like a random thing), and continue to refine the new idea that resulted from the exercise (wheels mounted inline with the spinner). In this scenario, if you removed the meme-ness, this wheel configuration actually does have some advantages: the spinner/non-spinner ratio of the front is good due to the narrow design, the robot's turning center is located near the spinner, the inboard tires may be less of a target than with a traditional 2WD vert, the initial roll-axis wobble allows a few deg of ultra quick turning before you have to fight the gyro forces to turn further, etc.
Yes! This is awesome! So glad to see another combat robot from this channel!
do what you did with the krave monster and make 2 that fight a the same time
Is Division or Deep Six a meme? Height to width says yes, logic checks out.
logic checks out yup. It's a good meme tho
This was great fun to watch!! Just started to build an antweight myself! 🎉😊
That wheel cut was super satisfying :)
I actually had that video open in a tab and totally forgot about the taco theme until you said shell and show the taco theme. I laugh hard because it was funny and because I remember why I click the video in the first time! Congrats doing all that in 5min
That subwoofer table is a great idea!
DIY lens? I need a video on that
HES BACK!!!
When I learned of the cross product, I too believed, and have yet to be proven otherwise, that it is in fact magic.
Great video!
THE RETURN. Hell yeah, let's go.
Saw that you are taking this to AVC! Will see you there
Nice to see you back at it! I love my robots Cameo! What event are you competing at next?
Angry Vehicle Competition 2023, Longmont, CO
I don't know where you're located, but it'd be cool if you're competing as well
@Carter Hurd I'm in Illinois. My next event is Michigan Mashup in 2 weeks. I hope I will see you at a MRCA event soon.
YES IVE BEEN WAITING TO SEE ANOTHER ONE
love taco robots
Can't believe where you're at a year later.
>taco Tuesday
It's Wednesday my dude
oh shit I'm late
And now it wants to go to Battlebots
Please keep making battle bot videos!!!!
I've got a team together finally. We are going to make a full 250lb bot.
Taco bots are the best bots. Let me know if you want some polycarb scrap to make a test box with.
don't have room in my small apartment, but thanks!
@@CarterHurd Mines 2' x 2' x 8" and I store it in a closet.
glad to see you back, are Danger Zone and Krave retired?
I still have Danger Zone sitting on a shelf. I no longer have a Krave sitting around. For this next competition I'll only be doing 2 fully-new bots.
I love it! Are you bringing it to AVC?
Yep!
TACOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tacos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is there a video about that coffee robot?
a short one: ua-cam.com/video/dH_PcpzAIy4/v-deo.html
Where is this one competing at?
Angry Vehicle Competition 2023, Longmont, CO
has anyone else every made one like this before?
nope
For some reason, the fact that you have a homemade lens does not surprise me.
What even is the spec on that thing
I have experimented with my own optics from torn apart older lenses, but this one is just a modified existing lens. It’s an f1.2 40mm e-mount lens converted to GFX. Because the GFX flange distance is longer than e-mount, you can’t just adapt the lens, so I re-worked the lens case, but kept all the optics together in the same unit. By removing all extra material around the rear elements, I also improved vignette slightly (the lens was never designed for a larger image circle than FF so was cutting off some light at the corners)
The result is equivalent to a 31.6mm f0.94 lens. Pretty cool. I never use it wide open for video, though.
medium format for video is super super dumb, but I got my camera for photography first, and then just also use it for video (cause why not, I don’t upload in 4k anyway)
@@CarterHurd 0.94, good god, no wonder why this shot 0:17 looks so trippy, on an ultra wide lens no less, I thought that DoF was surely artificial. I know its not what you upload, but man, I would love to see those process
@@rRhyan I just switched recently, so I'd like to get some good sample shots before doing a video on it, but I might do one eventually. Basically no one is using medium format for UA-cam (for good reason), so it could be an interesting video...
I must build a robot to counter this FEMBOY FRIDAY
