Another Day on the Mower!

- It's another day on the mower! Except today, I'm using the Farmall H with an International 120 balanced head sickle bar mower. Sickle bar mowers are lots of fun to run, if they are adjusted properly. Today I have to mow under our electric fences to keep the tall grass from grounding them out, and a sickle bar mower is the perfect tool for the job. I also have some new calves to show you!

The drone shots are looking great Pete! keep up the amazing work!
"Cattle are like Sand People..." Love the Star Wars reference Pete! I knew you were pretty cool but didn't know you were that cool! Haha
I just love his videos. He use old equipment and takes care of them. I like seeing old equipment being use to its best abilitesy
It's the sound of those Farmall tractors that keep bringing me back to this channel. Nice equipment you have on the farm.
Allis chalmers sounds just like the farmalls
Put a straight pipe on it and it sounds even better
What a great combination of a nose-wheeled tractor an sicklebar which has a backward motion when making a turn! No modern equipment can do the same without a big deal of hydaulics. Of of the few reasons i envy you Americans, is the invention of those nose wheeled tractors and keeping that delight to yourselves! I have only seen a tractor like that ones in the Netherlands. Probably taken home by a returned Dutch immigrant... Thank you so much for your positive video’s!
I realize that this was from last summer I really enjoy listening to the cows eat the grass in the hay
Growing up I spent time on my uncles dairy farm. He had 2 Farmall H tractors that he bought new when he returned from WW2. They had came off the production line one right after the other. After driving the John Deere H at our place it took me a little bit to get used to the foot clutch on the Farmall. That being said those Hs were a very easy tractor to drive. My cousin and I used to race them while cultivating corn, but that's a story for another day.
that sounds like it went over well 😂
Well. Its another day. Lets hear the story lol.
Keep the jokes coming! We find your delivery hilarious! Thank God for our nation's farmers!
I grew up in the 60's and 70's in Upstate NY. At that time the sickle bar mower was the main mower of choice. It was used to not only cut fields but the local highway department used them to cut down the grass on the side of the road. In my area the main tractors were the IH Farmall's and the old Ford tractors. We had a bunch of the Farmall Cubs which were really great for mowing because of the offset body design.
Pete you know what is the most beautifull thing of farming? We have different machines, different posts, wire, barns, cars, everything.
But cows sounds just like ours when calf is outside of pasture.
Greetings from Slovenia!
Love them old sickle mowers I like you show and your chokes or jokes
Always enjoy your videos, and learn from your experiences. Even at 72, I'm still, learning. Thank you again for your video.
That takes me back.
My earliest memories of sitting on a tractor was on a H, on Dad's lap while he cut alfalfa.
The mower was a Minnesota built at the penitentiary in about 1948.
Thanks for posting Pete.
Just a family and their farm. A hard simple life that’s hardly simple.
I've never heard it better put!
I admire your patience cutting without live PTO and hydraulics. I could not agree more cutting with a sickle mower is a unique experience.
Mr pete you have no idea how much I love your videos. Im starting into the hay business and its nice to see you working old equipment just as I will be
Bought a nice IH 1300 for retro purposes recently , tested in heavy Fescue grass and well satisfied. I've ran every major brand of mow and crimp machine in the past 56 seasons. Wish we had one back in 65' when I started mowing.
One of my favorite jobs on the farm growing up - going around the edges of the fields and the ditches with the sickle mower.
My grandfather and my dad used that type of more with a team of mules - grandpa love mules - thanks for the memories
Man, this brings back memories. My grandpa used H model tractors and always mowed his hay with a sickle bar. Used to love going down there and bailing hay in the summer.
Keep the jokes coming. 🤣😂
The mommas and babies are sweet.
That's a different way of trimming fence lines. The farm I grew up on had permanent fencing. Have a good day! 🙏☝️
I am ginuinely addicted to these videos and I wish you the best!
As a teenager in the 70s ran a sickle bar mower.., also used buck rakes and a hoist to make stacks..
I love the sound of that tractor! I’ve only driven one ☝️nce!
That's a pretty slick move on those fence lines. Enjoyed the video. Have a blessed week.
Good evening, always interesting miss them days helping my grandma 50 some years ago. Thank you so much for taking the time to video Steve from N.B Canada
Awesome mower, wish I had one to put on my H. And boy are you right again. New born calves are the cutest.
Small farms are the heart of America. It's sad how much it costs and how government regulates small farmers. I enjoy your videos early in the morning and makes me go outside on my 7 acre place here in Virginia.
I love the old sickle mower. We used to put the sickle mower on grandpa's Cub. It did an excellent job mowing along the side of the road as well as the creek bank.
Tonight I started out for my garden, I came around the corner and a little rabbit took off across the yard. That's when I knew you had influenced me. I immediately said Run Run Run Run ;)
Love watching the sickle-bar 👍👍💚🐃🐃🐃🐃🐃
Lets face it Baby's in any form shape or animal, are cute. and adorable. who can't love and infant 's face. ! great video Pete. thanks for sharing.
While my parent's dairy had long before switched to a mo-co, dad still had the No 10 mid mount mower that mounted on our 3020 gas tractor for clipping pasture and roadsides. Usually was mounted at least once a summer, couldn't be used with the front end loader. Got to run it a few times, the hardest part was adding/removing the transport rod..........
I always loved that sound. The clacking and watching the grass fall.
Great to see the old sickle bar mowers running. I had two uncles that had a Super C and a Cub with sickle bar mowers they used to cut hay with. I remember running them as a youngster. Keep the jokes coming!!! I love'em!!!
OMG Chills when you back up to the mower and bolted it to the drawbar of the H. This brings back lots of memories. My Dad bought the first model 120 balanced head mower our IHC Dealer sold. The second day we had it I mowed a 40 acre field of grass hay. That little Super H had a has 4th gear that would run 7 miles per hour. The hay was tall enough when I was opening up a land the hay was coming over the hood and flipping past the radiator cap. The hay was not falling on the ground for several feet past when I cut it off running at 7 mph. Loved that mower. We had lots of road side mowing to do and the unlimited angle the cutter bar would work was great.
Please don't ever stop the jokes I'm loving them.
The endless bread is a good one. 🤣
Agreed. I liked the one about the pen that wrote under water.....(it writes other words too) blaaaah. 🤭
Dad jokes are awesome. Keep them up! Thank you.
Pete, it's always so refreshing to watch your lovingly put together videos. We had a particularly stressful day picking up meat from the butcher today (truck problems, worrying about making it home before three steers' worth of beef thawed). My wife and I have been stewing for several hours and are finally getting over all the stress. Watching and listening to your sickle bar mower clear the fence line was just the vibe we needed to get back in a positive state of mind. Thanks, as always, for sharing your wisdom and positive outlook.
Really impressed by your Technic of mowing Pete. Love your jokes, keep them comming.
Tractor like this makes a man long for a simpler time. Absolutely love seeing old iron working like new. 👍
You are pushing my memories away back for sure as a 12 or so young Lad Grandad turned me loose on the M and a sickle mower a few times, I didn't brake it.
Great video and so nice to see those great cows out in your wonderful looking pastures.
I agree with your comment about how peaceful the sound of the sickle bar mower is. I wish I had more land available so I could use the sickle mower that's mounted on my cub.
Nice job. Taking longer for a nice "finished product" is what it's all about. Anyone who is in a hurry don't need to be farming. LOL
Great job showing and telling, love to have me one of them sickle bar mowers .well great video showing telling farmer sickle bar mower farmer man have a good one see ya next time see ya bye.
My father was a commercial airline pilot and flew international quite frequently. We called his jokes “Pan Am” jokes because the longer his flights were, the worse his jokes were. (That he brought home). Haha. Great video.
Great video. Those old Farmalls sound great, but I also like the sound of old John Deeres. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for all you do on the farm.. I enjoy watching the cows and calves.
The daily insight on running a well run farm. Honest and respectable. So nice to watch farming not infomercials. Thanks Pete.
You crack me up ^..^~ Endless Bread, great video as always thank you !
Great job Pete and Hillary always a pleasure great explanation of farming some folks need to hear that God Bless happy Fathers day Paul from NH
Pete reminds me of time spent on a John Deer B with a mounted John Deer sickle mower - started mowing at about 10 years old but wasn't allowed to work on replacing guards or knives
until about 16 - great videos - always bring back fond memories - !!!
I really enjoy your video's even though I'm a vintage john deere guy I learn a lot about farming from u ty for that keep them coming God bless!!!
Nothing beats the sound of a farmall tractor
Sickle mowing brings back good memories of making hay, memories of times past.
The sound of a sickle bar mower is relaxing!!
Hey Pete.
I’ve ran A bar mower so many times on the ends.
Love that sound. 🐔🚜💨
Perfect weekend for dad jokes .
Old tractors with narrow front end makes it easy
Beautiful cows. They shine like polished riding boots. :):):) The best!
That set up is exactly what we use to use to mow hay. I think our mower was a 27V with a pitman though. I spent so many hours sitting on an H farmall. Great video Pete
Hi Peter. Thanks for sharing. And those jokes aren't too bad.
Sir, I thoroughly enjoy your videos. I to am an old school guy.
So glad I found you I reaky enjoy everything you do
We passed a property called Almosta Farm. Had to laugh and thought you'd appreciate that farmer's humor.
A neighbor of mine named his Oleo....... he said it was the cheap spread!
Where does a Dad keep all of his Dad Jokes?
In a Dadabase.
I got a real kick out of this video from 40 to 48 seconds! I laughed and laughed. Keep up the great videos Pete. You are doing what you love and raising a family on the farm while getting to spend quality time with them. Things that the "public" work sector has taken from us. You are one lucky individual and it will pay dividends in the the future.
Always enjoy your videos. This reminds me of my dad's first cousin, Wes Shafer, who was always mowing around his electric fences, so he could rotate his cows. Wes had a 35 Ferguson with Ford 3 point hitch sickle mower. Man and machine - I can tell you've done this many times before - you drive that Farmall like Stradivarius played the violin. Thanks for sharing.
Keep the jokes coming. Love sharing with my grandkids
that is just beautiful
I've always loved to cut with a cutter bar it's so relaxing like you said I've always cut our second and third cutting with a cutter bar but we also had a tow behind crimper to pull at the same time it would cut drying time in half, I like your jokes it always gives me a laugh God Bless you and your family
love the look of older equipment Pete
As a chef I truly appreciated the oven joke. Your channel is amazing and I appreciate what you’re doing.
Those are some very good looking cows. It shows that you're taking very good care of them.
It is nice to see someone else having the same problem with their pasture and what to do. We are truly a few acres (3 acres pasture with 20 paddocks) with 12 head of sheep rotational grazing.
The jokes were pretty brutal today Pete! Loved them….don’t stop with the Dad jokes!! 😊. Happy Father’s Day Pete!!
Nice 👍 prob those horns have something to do with why patty is the boss ! Lol ! I have a 100 balanced head with fast hitch also ! I found a guy in Maryland who has tons of parts for those mowers ! I needed a whole gear box he had one no problem ! Enjoy the nice weather !
info@ihpartsandequipment.com. The link to mike with the IH mower parts if u ever need him , he also sells IH tractor parts , sheet metal , engines , etc a nice guy ! He has a D 236 engine I’m thinking of buying to swap into my 460 utility
I like the jokes so keep them coming since they're extra credit for being clean.
I too am amazed of the Drone shots and videos I think it's a great production by those that produce a video and their crew.
Love those old tractors! As I said before, I drove them on the baler in Iowa…. Many years ago… I agree! Calves are much cuter than piglets
Best joke I've heard you say in all of my binge watching. Thank you!
I used to cut our fence lines with a scythe. That was a workout.
sheep?
@@Seriouslydave no it was a cow pasture similar to what Pete was cutting.
You have the best grass for your cows 🐄
looks great, my fence row mower is my 504 and No. 5 JD mower
I cut my hay with a JD 60 and JD NO 8 sickle. Thanks for the video 👍
Good jokes today. 180 degrees! Ha! The pen that writes under water? Bahahahahahahahaha! Endless bread?! Haha! Good ones Pete!
Cycle bar mower is the way we used to cut hay. I love the sounds of the older equipment.
It doesn’t look like you have cuckle burrs. Do you? They’re thick here in Oklahoma. How often do you have to sharpen the blades in the cycle bar? Good vlog Pete and Hilarie! Beautiful babies, beautiful grass good people. Thanks!
When I was a teen, I used the swoop method a lot with our disk mower when maneuvering around obstacles in the field. It was fun and i got pretty good at it.
After Watching You And The Sickle Mower I Have To Find One To Add To My Line Up With My H Love The Sound Of A Farmall Quality Thinking Time When You're Riding A Farmall
Clean up videos are so satisfying
Really like seeing that old machinery in use.
I run the same setup on my '43 Farmall H. It is a nice little unit when you get it tuned right!
Pete, keep up with the dad jokes because I turn around and tell them to my kids and wife and when I get done they just moaned and tell me to stop with the dad jokes, I love it.
Whenever I recycle one of these jokes, my wife tells me I've had enough Internet.
I'm really enjoying your drone shots.
Me too
Not the flowers! My 11 year old daughter is freaking out right now LOL
Your cattle are so beautiful and shiny!
Great videos Pete. I grew up raising cattle and horses in Texas. Love the old tractors.
Thumbs Up from the Dooley's of Michigan
Man the millennials comment hurts haha. Great videos anyways. i love how there is no bs or clickbaiting. Keep up the good work sir.
All ur animals seem so happy......
Beautiful equipment. I work on a farm in upstate new York. I wish we had this.
Excellent video Pete :) also excellent Drone Video too and remember my late Dad told he some live barb wire in Sickle Mower gave shock him on tractor hit hand bad ! But learned from too also had fix fence up to and had tool on hand also! No problem jokes Pete :) all clean ones!
