I 've watched flaming star many times. and enjoyed it. I felt like this was one of the best movies Elvis did that showed off his talent. Why did they feel all his movies needed him singing. Poor choice in my opinion. I've always been a fan of Barbara Eden. She is beautiful and a very good actress. Elvis proved he was more then just a singer. I wish he had made more serious movies. He had the talent.

I just watched the latest; *Elvis* movie by Baz Lerman. It was really creative and a interesting look into the relationship between Col. Parker and Elvis. I won't t give any spoilers here incase you haven't seen the movie yet. ( Col. Parker ... Kinda rotten ). He needed a personality make over in real life. Very manipulative, etc.

It's a good movie and one of Elvis's best. It's a shame the fans didn't warm to it because they wanted more singing, it could have been the start of better roles had it been
a hit...Movies like GI Blues and Blue Hawaii pleased the fans but unfortunately sealed Elvis's fate doing musicals even though he hated musicals and wanted to do serious dramatic acting. It's sad and was a waste of his talent, numerous great award-winning directors and top-class actors noted his great potential, saying he was an instinctive natural actor, and if given good scripts and time to develop his skill he could have become one of the best actors.

I'm the exception, so it seems, in fans of Elvis movies. This was one of his best serious roles, along with Love Me Tender & King Creole. The plotless multi-song movies were money-making throwaways. I do like a few. Loving You, Jailhouse Rock, Viva Las Vegas!, maybe G.I. Blues, It Happened at the World's Fair, and more.

Remember everyone, Elvis was a moneymaker in music and then in TV and in movies.
That said, he made movies that were box office gold but he also made some that were basically ‘meh’
Rather than debating his acting skills, I’d rather enjoy his music and hits like Jail house Rock, Hound dog, and later on Suspicious minds…
Besides, his life had a sad, tragic ending, so why not remember him for his talents and music?

I did see it on TV in the 1960s, when I was a boy and understood the subject. In NYC there were many people who for generations intermarried each other despite religion, ethnicity, and race. They had a true sense of humanity. For me as long as they are full grown adults, finishing school several years earlier, I have no problem. This May 18, I will be 66 years old and still not married. I am a social radical who doesn't want to do nothing with the average lifestyle.

@@FactsVerse I think the very first time I saw (again) a very young Barbara Eden was when ABC showed the original "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea" on its "Sunday night movie" I did watch "I Dream Of Jennie" it had an astronaut, what red blooded American 5 years old wouldn't want to watch a show about an astronaut who was trying to get to the moon during the hight of the 60's space race. The funny woman in the "olden day" clothing was of little interest to that 5 year old who just wanted her to stop annoying the astronaut. Times do change, now, the only reason to watch the show is to lovingly look at that funny woman. I don't really have all the episodes memorized in order, for fun I look at the beginning of each episode, see what Barbara's costume looks like, say "That's 1st, 2nd or 3rd and beyond. No one has ever pointed these changes out, Barbara has talked about the changes in the first season, there were others, might make a interesting video.

I Didn't see it, but because I'm a "fan" of Elvis, &, Eden, I'd LIKE to! Even though the songs "didn't 'fit' ", I didn't CARE, because Elvis was older than me, and I thought ALL of the songs in his movies were often "contrived", and I thought, "So What?" This is just how Elvis films ARE--he'll just "burst into song" @ times! Even if they initially laughed, Elvis fans are like Beatle-fans--they end-up INTERESTED! in ANY scrap of a song that turns up, NO MATTER WHERE it came from. Sometimes previewers are WRONG! The songs should have stayed-in, even if they showed that life {and movies} is/are sometimes Absurd, because it IS! If the songs had been "in", we might've laughed when he sang them in the movie, but we'd be Humming-them in our lives a few weeks later. I'm Sorry he didn't get a chance to do more drama. --Dang, Elvis was "good" at about Everything, wasn't he? So sorry we "lost-him" too soon, although I feel Elvis, and, Jim Morrison, BOTH "Faked" their deaths, and BOTH were Successful @ doing so--Elvis, 'cuz he was "burned-out," and Morrison, because he might've been heading to jail. If Elvis, ever wanted to perform, all he had to do was "impersonate" himself, but Morrison would've set-up a huge Insurance payout, but he'd have to be careful, because his leather pants STUNK--he'd have to stop wearing those, lol!

I think there was only one actress that was kind of a snob around Elvis and she had a closed off attitude towards him thinking to be in an Elvis movie was beneath her and that was Stella Stevens... Most others enjoyed him as a person and actor and said they enjoyed working with him and that he was very professional, a gentleman and good kisser too... Some said he was very kind and funny just an all around fun guy to be around and always handled himself on set with respect to all cast members and crew and always tried to learn about each person and show respect and friendliness towards them all...He was a sponge in away and loved learning new things but was towards last few movies he sort of tired of the same type of theme and wanted something he could sink his teeth into as a great movie part and not be just type cast or same musicals with sometimes silly songs or singing to chickens and dogs etc...

It's one of my favorites and I think it was best they did not use Sinatra and Brando... All are good actors but Elvis was so underrated and even held back or boxed into the roles chosen for him he could have done so much more i think it was the image and the Colonel that held him and he had great acting ability he was a natural and in some ways i think better than James Dean and other method actors he had a real quality and showed emotions true not over done, he had been type cast into a playboy with girls always chasing him or a giggle type with adventures like a travel log into places and scenes that is why they had cheaper budgets and not like big epic movies like From Here To Eternity or Gone With The Wind... But he could have done anything even the ones he was up for that Colonel either turned away or asked too much money or top billing... Like the one he was chosen for to act opposite Sidney Poitier but the role ended up going to Tony Curtis or the John Wayne movie with cast of Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson took place of part for Elvis but he would have been even better I think...Also in Grease I find it interesting they wanted him for a cameo and Colonel also turn that down and instead the hot Frankie Avalon to do 'Beauty School Dropout' and was interesting they filmed that on the day Elvis died... Sad and ironic at same time... People on the set were blown away to hear he passed when they were filming it that day the same scene he could have or would have done had things worked out as originally offered for him to be in it... Colonel thought it was beneath him and did not even look into accepting Elvis for the part... It wasnt a staring role and yet Elvis would have enjoyed it and would not have cared if he wasnt the star with top billing... Funny how in other movies and tv shows Elvis was imitated... I loved most of his movies inspire of reviews or low budgets... Most was King King Creole, Jailhouse Rock. Loving You, Charro and Flaming Star... I did not like Kissin Cousins it was least favorite...

I hate the title of this piece. First of all the idiot that released this film 4 weeks after the release of King Creole must have been drunk. It got no publicity or build up and people virtually didn't know of it's existence. It is one of Elvis best acting jobs of his career. True he doesn't sing but one song and the title song. It did one thing he wanted to accomplish it showed a convincing young man who is biracial, and his fight to fit into the world of the west, it not only had a message it was packed through with action and emotional events. Do yourself a favor, if you want a great western watch "Flaming Star", you will love it. Elvis is wonderful. A side note Elvis also wanted to do it because his great great grandma was full Cherokee Indian name "white dove". Thanks.

It's now clear as day; it all came down to the movie scripts that rotten Col. Tom Parker would green light to Elvis. He kept Elvis distracted and busy;. with mostly poorly written ( B ) movies. I always wondered why. Probably because Col. Tom was hellbent on the extra money made on cheaper movies to pay off his gambling debts. Elvis should have found a better manager. Watch the newest *Elvis* movie 2022 by Baz Lerman. Great movie. But sad look into Col. Tom's personality. Greedy, manipulative and cruel.

Many of his songs were written by Jewish composers. They weren't complaining. And the African Americans he worked with had only good things to say about him, and thanked him for helping to get their music out to a wider audience.

@@Chris-is6xb "Jailhouse Rock" was one. By Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller....they also wrote "Love Me" "Loving You" "King Creole" "Hound Dog" "Kansas City", and "Don't"...more songs they wrote include"Charlie Brown" "Yakkety Yak", "" and Searchin" and they have writing credits on "On Broadway", "Stand By Me" and "Spanish Harlem" all done by African American artists. here's another one: "Can't Help Falling in Love" is a song recorded by American singer Elvis Presley for the album Blue Hawaii (1961). It was written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss and published by Gladys Music, Inc.[2] The melody is based on "Plaisir d'amour",[4] a popular French love song composed in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini. I know "HArd-headed woman ws written by an African American author (Claude Demetrius, the piano player in Louis Jordan's band) but I'm guessing he got paid royalties, no? The song was also recorded by Wanda Jackson...much better than Elvis's version IMHO....it's a funny song,a nd elvis swallows the lyrics.

The ability to give "Goose bumps" and "hairs standing on the back of the neck" can not be "co-opted" or stolen from anyone, you either have that ability or you don't. Presley delivered that effect to millions of people across the world and even Elvis was perplexed by it. So the idea that Elvis' success is owed to other peoples music is a mute point. It was that incredible voice, that beautiful register/timbre and tone that sold records and it wouldn't have mattered what genre he did, goose bumps don't lie, so much so that millions would be quite happy to listen to him sing without anybody's music so they ought not flatter themselves. The only "co-opting" that appears to be going on is of Presley's success by those envious of his ability to deliver on that apparently unapproachable level.

Sad. Maybe she was hard up for money or maybe just wanted to cash in. I hope you didn't pay the $10. If I were a famous actor I would have let you take as many pictures you wanted for nothing. After all without fans I would have been nothing.
