A big thank you for this. Just started wearing hats at the age of 69 due to cataract operations and this has moved the whole game up to a new level! Just put feathers on my new €80 black felt wide-brim hat and it looks gorgeous.
I've worn hats for years, I generally wear a baseball type cap(flexfit) for work. Then after hours I sported a Kangol, depending on the season wool or something lighter, a beret style. Then on a recent trip to Austin I stopped into your store and fell in love with the Dean the butcher, gray/black swirl. Fit so perfect(XL) usually finding a hat for my shaped head is difficult. One size does not fit all. I wore the hat the rest of my trip, on the plane and home. Love it, it just feels good. Now a month after my trip I purchased the gray Night Hawk, weird because those were your 1st two. I Haven't received it yet but I'm already looking at my next possibility. Appreciate the videos.
I absolutely love hats, and although I have quite a few trucker hats from Goorin Bros. my bowler is Dobbs. I appreciate you guys having a channel to show how to do everything from taking care and accessorizing your hat.❤ I am ready to layer some feathers and maybe add some velvet ribbon😊
I put a longer feather into my fedora similarly and it fell out and lost it.. is there any other steps we can do to fully secure it? Also where can I get more quality feathers ? Thank you
I wear feathers and such regularly, and have found a very small dab of low temp hot glue on the band side of the feather stem helps tremendously, as it allows easy release from the hat whenever I need to remove it... another tip, if you dont wish to use glue, is to find a small pin that you enjoy, and use the pin to help tack the base of your feather to the hat/band, whichever you prefer!! Best of luck!!
Hello Alex. i have a question. i have online boutique and i sell restyled or customized brim hats, fedoras and whatever. Some are my fathers who passed away a few years ago and i am restyling many of his fedoras for sale as a way to do business and contribute back into a scholarship in his name. Many of the hats need TLC, some really good steam cleaning and maybe new hat bands. which is not a problem. however i wonder if fedoras really need the inside lining? there are some sweat stains and the lining is not hard to remove. im selling these hats back at low prices, but its all about the style and lasting energy and a way to honor my dad. if they need the linings, i want to put something stlyish inside, like paisley or a pink satin. do you know where i can buy hat linings? thank you.,
So my girlfriend back 25 years ago or better laughed at me for putting feathers in my hat and said are you Native American or are you a cowboy of course she did not use the word Native American but still it's great to see that other people like feathers in their hats and there's a song not mentioning any names but he says Indians are dressing up like cowboys and Cowboys are putting feathers and turquoise on and that's awesome to me that we can all get together and I don't mean to use the word Indian in a derogatory sense so Native American butt that's great to mean that everybody now is getting together and having a good time and dressing up how they feel because I love a feather in my cowboy hat that's just the way it is
Cool vid. I've been getting back into archery through inspiration from Fred Bear. He always had fedora with feathers. Plus, I've always been a fan of Carlos "White Feather" Hathcock.
Seems performative and aesthetic and very much NOT durable or functional. I can't find a tutorial on how best to attach natural "found" feathers to a literal cowboy hat that will be going through woods and lifting lumber and etc etc. I have a Stetson I love (work hat) and I've been stuffing feathers into the hat band and losing them in days for years. I need a good way to get 2 feathers attached to a button, snap, rivet... I'd be amenable to a literal machine bolt if it works. I haven't found any info on this no matter how hard I search, but I come up with this video constantly. I love your work, this product is impressive and I respect it a lot! But I need a method that's gonna survive a horse ride through the bush, and for everything this tutorial IS, this here ain't IT. I've been (poorly and brutishly) lashing feathers to the hat band with embroidery floss, but I'd like to cut my feathers and attach to a button or something. Any tips???
I got a Stetson hat that I'm gonna use for hunting. I plan on attaching feathers along the way and I'm worried about this exact reason. What do you think is the best approach?
I became known as the girl with the cowboy hat in the poultry exhibition world and it's been extremely useful to myself and others because my very decorated, beautiful and sturdy cowboy hat stands out in a crowd of a thousand. Hats are hats. For me, it has a use for looking stylish and being easier to find while at show. Yes I even wear good cowboy boots with it too. Turns out cowboy boots are great for when a bird attacks your legs because they can't hurt you while you're wearing them and you're right on top of them so regaining control of the animal is easy. There is no pretending or anything involved. People like you make me sad. Why I'm sad is because those like yourself find now joy in anything and find every little way to make others miserable.
