"If there is no gap, then be prepared to stop at the end of the sliproad, but try to avoid doing so as this can be dangerous" This tells me that slip roads are just a stupid design.
In a lifetime of driving I can’t think of a time I’ve had to stop at the end of a slip road onto an NSL dual or a motorway except when queuing, so they generally work well. But this sometimes relies on a bit of courtesy from the drivers on the fast road which may not always be forthcoming!
