Really cool! You guys forgot a good selling points I’ve seen in that video IMHO. Usually, stubbys are required to run larger tire to avoid rubbing against the wings. It seems that since it’s now lower the widest part of the tire can’t reach up to grab the bumper wings in this configuration. This is big for overlanders 👍🏼

I agree, great engineering, great product, but for the same price or less, I’ll take the fully setup Dana 60/80 set from Dynatrac or Currie. Perhaps it would be worth the price if they included CTIS ports through their portal hubs.

Would it be far too wide for the street let alone the trails? These portals are a definite bucket list for me. So freaking cool.

Are Ball Joint Eliminators doable on this? I have a diesel and the net 4.55 is great for 38-40” tires but I can’t spend Ultimate Dana 60s+ $10k money and keep stock axles it just doesn’t compute. f yall can mass produce these so that they cost $6-8k you would sell so freaking many! A modified stock powertrain gladiator has a ceiling on what its worth and $10-12k above sticker is about it. I gotta make sure I can still carry adequate insurance.
yes you can use the BJE kits with the portals.. and we are working towards moving to castings to get the price down but will always offer a billet version.

Portals allow more diff clearance. A couple of cons; raises the center of gravity, decreases up travel and potential over heating of the portal oil. How it could benefit an overland build depends on how you drive and where. Is there a benefit overall, no.
This is def the coolest jeep upgrade I've seen to date. Well put together video. Time will tell how well they hold up with the notoriously weak modern jeep axles unless heavily gusseted. The biggest weakness of modern jeeps is they are choked with electronics that are not field repair friendly. Admittedly I'm an ol' skool CJ5 CJ7 fan. 1 tons W/lockers, link suspension & 40's.....sweet spot for me.
you should consider aftermarket housing anytime you are trying to put 40" tires on something. our product is made to bolt onto factory housing ends. that being said this gladiator has Currie 60s front and rear. but the rockslide gladiator build that is powered by a 6.6 lx3 is running stock housings with no issues so far.

Seems too good to be true. What are the downsides to portals? Does it cause strain on the suspension? Engine? Obviously larger tires are gonna cause strain somewhere along the way.
we daily drive on portals and heat is not an issue. we drove from san diego to moab, SD to Jonson valley, and all over the west coast. drove through Arizona in the summer where the asphalt was over 100 degrees and the portals never went above 80*
here we have a stock Gladiator lets throw $45k at it and boom you can now run 40" tires. don't mind me I will be sitting over here in the corner being jealous.

they run great on highway. we have been daily driving them and have done multiple long highway trips from San Diego to moab, st. George, Johnson valley and wheeled the whole time and drove them back doing 80 on the whole way home

the portal kit does a handful of things all in one bolt on package. It's your lift and re-gear and one ton 8 lug unit bearing conversion. the 3.88 inches of lift you get is below the axle instead of above giving you true ground clearance and allowing you to maintain your factory ride quality by not having to put some ones lift kit on that compromises your ride quality by changing the suspension geometry. the portal also handles your re-gear with a 22% reduction changing your 3.73 to a 4.56 or your 4.10 to a 5.0 allowing you to run bugger tires and a stronger ring and pinion. subscribe to the channel and there will be plenty more videos to come in addition to the videos already posted on our channel. and give us a follow on instagram @74weld for constant updated and more daily content
I love the product no doubt, but yes it’s way overpriced. No one in their right mind who’s actually going to be using their rig for actual off-road use would pick this over a dynatrac 60/60 set up and a rad lift kit with kings. Which would be around the same price. This kit is for someone who won’t actually off-road seriously, and is using the portal just to show off at the mall parking. Not saying this can’t off road, just saying price wise it doesn’t make sense to go this route over tons. Your stock 44 axles will still break easily in the housing/tubes etc. if this kit was $25k and it’s a set up with tons and portals on the ends, then it makes more sense.
@@00ninja00 This kit installed on a Jeep would be more capable than a Jeep with the mods you talk about, 60s and lift+Kings. Wheeling. Strength would be comparable and the added clearance would be a huge plus. Those who do wheel know the benefits of portals. We manufacture everything in house in an AS9100 certified machine shop.
so this owner just spent like what, another $50k on the portals axles wheels and tires... that's a $110k Jeep right there folks! crazy, huh?
