- This video is the 2024 opener at Odell, we had fast action with descent size fishing. I lose what I think may have been my personal best Lake trout... at least 20+ pounds. These fish were all caught on my favorite lures… Lyman lures!

Lake got some nice fishing! 👍👍👍
You got that right! Thanks
Well done guys. Have you fished the old Lyman plugs? Do you find a difference between them and the new plastic ones?
I have not fished the old Lyman plugs. I had intended to get my hands on a few, but the new ones catch so many fish I never got around to buying any wood ones. Thanks for watching, and tight lines!
if you have any information on how deep the 2 inch the 3 inch and 4 inch Lyman lures dive I would appreciate the info. I can't find anything anywhere.
The 2 and 3 inch dive 2-5ft. The 4 inch dives 10-15. I try to keep my downrigger 15-20ft from the bottom with the 4 incher, and that puts it right in the zone. Tight lines.
@@Fishnmoreoutdoors I figured they were shallow divers similar to some rapalas. So yeah, Downrigger's would work or an in-line weight with a good long leader so as not to kill the action. really appreciate the info 👍🏾
You’re welcome. Tight lines.
Nice! Ill be there this weekend for my first time mack fishing. My question is do they tend to go deeper when it gets cold? As its supposed to be a high of 36 and snowing this Saturday.
No last year I caught them in the top 20 feet of the water column in a snow storm. There will be fish shallow and deep, and as the water temps warm up they will head deeper.
How fast you guys trolling?
For lakers 1.5-2.5.
Nice work gentlemen, buetiful day. Never done the mack fishing but looking to get into it. If ya don't mind, is there a reason you are running mono instead of braid? Thx
I run braid with a fluorocarbon leader. 30 ib braid with 50ft of fluorocarbon leader. My friend runs a heavy mono or fluorocarbon on his two rods that we were using. Most of his other rods have braid with a mono or fluoro leader. I like the braid and the flour for sensitivity and hook sets
Nice fish! 🐠
Thanks!
Nice fishes. What do you think about the 1 hook vs the 2 trebles? Land more?
I think the hookup and loss rate is similar. We lost and landed fish on double trebles, single trebles, and single octopus hook that day. I like that the single is easier on the fish, easier to remove, and doesn’t tangle in the net.
How deep are they? Do you think I could catch one with my 10’ inflatable pontoon? Thx
Early season you can catch them shallow. We caught a bunch of these fish trolling the lure top lined with no weight or downrigger. Tight lines!!
@@Fishnmoreoutdoors that’s awesome. I need to get a trolling motor for my pontoon boat!! Thank you!
What size Lyman and colour bud? Got a 17 pounder kokanee fishing in the Cariboo 2 weeks ago
I use 4 inch for lakers most often. With 2 inchers added into the mix. I will use the new 3 inchers for lakers on future trips. I have lots of favorite colors.
Congrats on the 17 pounder!
What type of lures /plugs are you running.
We caught all of these on various Lyman lures. They are excellent lures, and I feature them in many of my videos. There is a link to their site in the videos description. Thanks, and tight lines.
What do you do with them? Ate some smoked and it was nasty.
Catch and release! They are slow growing, and there is much better table fair!!
Are you going to be up at the mackinaw tournament on the 1st? I plan on being there. First time!
No I have to work that weekend. Tight lines.
Bummer. I appreciate the videos. Placing my order on lyman today. Definitely buying the red and white ladder, kokanee and stairway zombie!
The wonderbread, and firetiger are a couple other favorites! Tight lines!
Great that you boys/men had a good time fishing but as a viewer it was just that, added nothing to anyone who plans to fish this lake ie, wtf were you using for bait, gear? lures etc. I know about this lake only by the fact it's located in Oregon and that it is a big lake where most fishing is by those who own boats. I don't . So as grand fishermen what do you say to us folks? Get a life ND boat with down riggers, planers, & lures we have no clue about???
Sorry you are frustrated by this video. The link to the exact lure is in the description. This video was not meant to be a full tutorial. I have other videos that go into more depth if you are interested. Tight lines
