I guess it's that old show-bizz adage: leave them wanting more? A lot of these really short films you look at now and think: this could so easily have been expanded into a longer fantasy story. But I guess at this early point films were just very short. :)

@@TengyTalksTVMovies I wonder how many people were involved in making a one and a half minute film? They probably spent days putting the idea together, and then filming it.

@@brucster99b2 hard to say at this point? The credits for a lot of these very old films are not always available. Not sure if Booth was a one-man-band type of operator or if he had a team working with him?

I think what I most liked was just how amused the mustachioed man was by the antics of the tiny folk. He wasn't mad, he didn't freak out, he just went along for the ride. Just another day in the life, I guess. Thanks for the view/review of this tiny classic. 😉

Yes, that is very sweet, and unexpected. Glad you enjoyed this, I find these shorts really fun to watch. :)

Hello Tengy, "The Cheese Mites" makes me never want to eat cheese ever again! 😆😆
I think it was the ale that made that mustachioed man hallucinate about the frolicking 'mites'.
Cheese in itself is made of four basic elements: milk, salt, rennet (which are enzymes in milk protein) and bacteria. Yes, ACTUAL BACTERIA! Lice, mites, fungus and other squiggly wiggly things frolicking around in curdled milk that bring us this delicious yummy delicacy.
You don't even want to know what lives in Casu Marzu cheese! 🧀 😆😆😆
It was a cute film but definitely could have gone another 30 to 60 seconds longer for a more enjoyable experience.
Thanks again for another weird, short film Tengy. They're always delightful to watch. 📽❤️

I think there was another film with the same name around this time that was a microscopic view of actual cheese mites. Probably less amusing that this and a bit more horrifying...It's a shame this doesn't go a bit longer....I'm sure they could have found more for the mites to do.

@@TengyTalksTVMovies Yes. A 1903 film that was a tad bit similar. I encountered it when I was poking around to view a copy of the 1901 film you reviewed.

Man! It's driving me nuts trying to work out exactly how they did the first "mite" shot, on the beer. I have a theory, that once again leads to Walter's camera operator (or another assistant) doing a miracle of timing.

OK. Now I think I've got it. He just came up with the idea 26 years before Metropolis got all the credit.

It is very well done. I think Walter's background in stage magic gave him a bit of an edge in doing these films.

Had to watch it a couple of times. Looks like one of the mites was a waiter and another mite started wrestling with him. Definitely could have used another minute or so.
