Well Laura and Grant, great to see you coming to this side of the Mississippi and seeing how we farm in the Northeast I'm about 3 hours south of you now roughly in Western Pennsylvania 70 head cow and calf operation we also crop and run a small feed Mill I really enjoy watching your videos and about half a dozen other Farmers from various parts of the country it's great you're doing what you're doing with 2% of us feeding the other 98%, if somebody doesn't get out there and tell our story it doesn't get told. Thankful for young people like you and tech savvy people that put these videos together it lets our general public know a little bit about the lives we lead and what it takes to get food on the table in front of these folks. Thanks so much for your work it is a necessary labor in this day and age!
When people think of New York, they limit themselves to just the "city"....the country side of the state is so beautiful, the farms, the fields, its amazing.
I'm not from the USA, and I've only ever set foot on the East Coast once (not in NY). I didn't even know the rest of NY state existed until years ago I was talking to a guy from upstate NY on the radio - he really educated me in that regard. I pulled out the map and discovered there was this whole "other" NY outside of NYC. It's great to see what it's like - looks like a really nice spot.

Where is that farm at? Is it off RT 20? It looks familiar, but I just can't place it. I grew up in Skaneateles Falls so I know some of the area. ( My dad was born in the old corner gas station in Navarino) I moved away in 1982 but can still find my way around when I get back up there.
Thanks for coming to our part of the country. More people should realize that there is more to New York than just the city. Upstate New York has so many beautiful areas. I’m glad you enjoyed your time.

I live in Indiana and down the county road from me is a large milk farm. Originally they hauled their manure in giant tankers pulled behind giant tractors. These were messy and so wide that it made it difficult to pass them. The farm then went to using regular semi-trucks with tanker trailers. This was a vast improvement in the ability to pass them but were still messy.
Now they pump the manure just like this farm is doing. They run miles of hose and have pipes under the county roads to run their hose. This has been a vast improvement on the county road system with zero spillage, no semi Jake brakes past homes 100 times a day and I’m certain less moving parts and liability for the farmers subcontractor!
Miss it work on a farm 🚜 23 years in lreland now a taxi driver but always go back in the Spring love your UA-cam all the way from Ireland 🇮🇪 😀

Never saw a manure spreader like that before. The last one I drove, many years ago, slung manure everywhere, a lot of it on your back. Always enjoy seeing you and Grant having a good time together. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANT!!!

As a Dutchie from the Netherlands it's nice to see there's also Dutch equipment used by contractors, the injector is a Schuitemaker Exacta 1230.

I'm really glad that y'all got up to New York and got to appreciate how beautiful it is up there. I lived in a place called Afton which I'm guessing probably might be a little further west than you are because we had more Hills leading back into the Appalachians and alleghenies. But it's a beautiful beautiful place and the time when I was living there up until just about my college days is something I will always always cherish. I still have my spurs. I still have a John Deere cap. But I really wish I still had my blue corduroy Future Farmers of America jacket. A girlfriend absconded with it. Happy belated, very belated birthday Grant! Continued good fortunes to you both.
Soooooooo interesting !! Raised on a VERY SMALL 15 acre dairy entry level dairy farm..Mom milked our only cow (a Jersey named Maud) by hand..Our neighbors a family of nine was our market,such a great life as a child in the early 1960,s...

Versatile haven't made tractors for a number of years (I think they partnered with Ford/New Holland), and Massey Ferguson rigs aren't worth calling 'tractors' - what other mainstream brand uses red paint??

Laura, as for traveling around and visiting other farms, you could certainly make a nice side career out of that one. But you're thinking to small. Imagine traveling the world and seeing all types of farms in action everywhere. Ever watch any videos on farms in Switzerland. Steep hills and some of the craziest equipment you've ever seen. Netherlands, Germany, Russia and on and on... you could travel the world.

Great scenery with all the rolling hills. Fall is really splendid with all colour change. Very interesting vid of the movement of manure from pit to field. Big cows produce lots of poop each and every day. Need large volume manure storage pits. Gases off of pits can be very hazardous. Comparing your farming out west to us in the east, very difficult. You have very large flat acreage, where the N.E. have smaller fields mostly because of terrain changes. Many farm tractor tires get worn off just travelling many miles on the roads to haul crops back to farm central feed storage. Poor shoes, but it washes off and grows healthy toe nails. haha.

1:45 It was funny to hear you say, “ off in the distance” and see the horizon. In my neck of upstate NY the “distance” was less than a 1/4 to a 1/2 mile away because it was so mountainous.

Yes Laura I learned something new. Pumping manure sludge miles and a special rig just to distribute the liquid. I thought the robotic udder washers were amazing .. but this.... Keep teaching Laura

Happy birthday Grant, a great present to see first hand a process that is different than in Nebraska. Beautiful country in NY. Laura you said you would like to see other states. Come to Wisconsin and see dairy beef operations vegetables production cranberry growing and harvesting and see glacial landscapes and forrests and beautiful lakes and rivers. Make it a wedding anniversary celebration, you would love it. I find Nebraska very interesting as my grandparents and my dad was from there, as Nebraska is a very diverse state. Looking forward to your next video.

Living in Southern California most of my life i had to visit relatives in Wisconsin and Minnesota to get a taste of farming. I miss it and get tempted to take agriculture classes at Cal poly Pomona. I would love to work a real farm
