I worked at Beck's for 5 years as a production agronomist at the home office. Will likely always be one of the best work experiences I will ever have. Only reason I left was the growth of our home farm. Glad to see you had a great time!
As a customer of Becks, we were impressed with their products. But more impressive was the gift cards we received with the instructions to use one for ourselves and extend the other to a needy family.
I trust most viewers understand that you guys were picked because of what you represent to the future of farming. What an excellent opportunity for you both and I doubt very much that this will be your one and only private jet trip. I have so much respect for farmers and skilled workers such as you guys. Blessings....
My Father-in-Law worked for Frances Beck as a farmhand and actually lived next door to the main home and original seed corn facility west of Arcadia, IN. This video brought back many memories.
Thank you, thank you, thank you not only for the chance to do this tour with you and Grant, BUT for your enthusiasm about all things modern farming. I just adore how you love the equipment and how you take care of it. Dear young woman you ARE the future of all that is great in American Farming. You deserve the same "Thank you" we give our armed forces because you make our life in this country so wonderful with your mad farming skills and hard work.
Your videos are so different from other farm girl UA-camrs. Yours are educational, focused, and lack the goofiness of others. I always learn from you. A lot of time is spent editing. It shows. Kudos.
Love "tagging along" with you and Grant, always learn so much... while you're planting/ harvesting the fields, I was below them harvesting minerals underneath... wish I could have worked for you instead. Retired now, so enjoy your life's journey.
Fascinating! I come from poultry and dairy farmers and my father was a poultry science major in college. We no longer farm in our family but its still in my blood and love seeing the agriculture side of farming!
Laura and Grant, thank you for all the hard work you do. It is really neat to see another side of the farming industry. You are a great host's, well-spoken and one smart cookie. You will be on a private jet again, no doubt in mind.
Awesome video you can never have enough knowledge. And it seems you enjoy learning about the different aspects of the job that you do as a awesome farmer. Beautiful ❤
My wife and I just drove from Wisconsin, through all of central Illinois, heading to Florida. Saw one of the Beck facilities in central, IL. It looked like many large granaries were over flowing. I pray all farmers had a bumper crop this year and prices are good. God Bless all farmers.
Very professional presentation and editing. Your genuine enthusiasm and appreciation of your blessings is a great testimony. Congrats on the opportunity.
Laura it is such a blessing that you and Grant allow us to come along into your life you're farming adventures .my wife and I are not Farmers but we really love our American farmers and there is really a place in our heart for you and Grant and your family and just thank you so much for taking us along on this private jet journey it was really a blessing we love you guys blessings from Martinsville Indiana
You looked amazing !! I'm guessing it was due to your adventure side ,being excited, about the journey that you 2 were about to enjoy!! Awesome educational experience for you n Grant to have!!! I for one,am amazed at the huge amount of time n efforts put forth for this video.... Thank you Laura n Grant !! 👍🐺🧙♂️🦊🤜🤛👍!!
Laura I have always believed You could be a professional agriculture news correspondent or company representative. You have a very pleasant personality, a great positive attitude, very knowledgeable about subject material, and are a natural on camera. Grant could continue to do what he does best, being your #1 love in your life. ❤😂 LOL.
Congrats on getting chosen (earned!) to do this tour! The greenhouse/breeding stuff is fascinating. City people have NO concept of what all goes into the food supply chain, and the free market makes it all work. As a farm kid I never envisioned being on a charter Jet -- but I ended up traveling a half a dozen times that way. It is awesome -- walk in the FBO and say Hi to a friendly staff, get on a plane, without some authoritarian TSA Perv digging thru your stuff or feeling you up, chat with the crew, experience actual legroom onboard.....Traveling like John Kerry..... Keep working like you are and you will do it again I am betting!
You would be surprised. If you are running a big operation and have to do a certain amount of travel you can very rapidly get to the point where fractional jet ownership or lease based ride sharing becomes cost effective. The airlines and the TSA have made airline travel so difficult, time consuming and unreliable that the lost time during travel figures into the calculation. I've done business jet travel myself and the ability to go somewhere halfway across the county, conduct business all day, and be home for dinner with my family was amazing. I will say that, in all honesty, it's a pretty sweet way to travel. Great video!
Great that you two were able to fly on a Falcon 900EX (valued at $12M -$15M) form Nebraska to Indiana and return. After touring the facility, are you going "all in" on BECK's seed? The corporate flying I performed was on Cessna Jets, Gulfstream and Pilatus. Great career! Yes, it is a great way to fly and miss all the preboarding stuff with the airlines. Glad you enjoyed the flight time.
If I were them I would make say an 80 acre test of BECK's seed. What they are using now is working fantastic so changing to BECK's would require caution.
Laura & Grant, in a private jet, that is what I call high-flying. After both of you worked so hard farming this year, nobody should envy either of you a bit of privilege in your life's. Thanks for taking us on your trip. Love from Mike. ❤
Back around 2008-9 I was being flown to project meetings with engineers on our company Citation jets. Being an aviation buff it made it even better. I felt privileged to know my field experience and knowledge was valued by the project engineers which changed some aspects of the projects I was involved in.
Wow! What a rare and exciting opportunity. So cool to see a glimpse into how our food (or some of it, anyway) is produced and the different aspects of making sure that a tiny seed feeds as many people as possible.
It is always special to visit a seed grower operation, even more so when that is a family owned concern. The big mega corps have their place I suppose but a family operation I would think has much more empathy with their customers, not all about shareholder profit. Hoping you have a great winter season, leading into a fantastic planting season.
Hey you 2. Well you've officially made it. Now that you're Jet Setters. Lol. Really proud of you both. Also not gonna lie, mildly a bit Jello. But that's life. Grants a great guy and you're a extraordinary lady Laura. Stay golden you 2. You seem to only grow more bueatiful each day. Just a fact. Trent S.. Mount Shasta CA
Glad you got to experience what Becks is all about . There is simply no other seed company giving back to customers like Becks does . Hope u give their seed a try and another great thing is the research they will be doing in your own state just down the road at Goehner ! I'm a Becks dealer in SE Kansas and going into our 7th year selling for them after selling Dekalb for 32 years . Give Becks seed a try you won't be disappointed. Hope ya'll have a great 2023 , big fan of your videos ...
Great video Laura. When I was trying to break into the private jet industry, I met some pilots from John Deere. They said their flights were half what you experienced. Picking up farmers from different areas and bringing them back to the company for a tour and discussions. Basically a big sales trip. This is a far cry from what most people think about business jet fliers, stuffy rich people, well dressed, sipping Champaign, and eating caviar. Beck's uses their jets as a business tool just like a tractor. It serves a purpose to get a job done. I hope people see why business jets exist! (Now off my soap box). Are all the seeds Becks grows and sells organic? I am curious about your views comparing organic and non-organic seeds and if they are good for you down the line? thanks Laura.
A business jet is a fun business tool!!! GMO crops, depending on which crop, make weeding easier and produce more. One farmer who was growing certified organic said that on the whole we can't feed the world using organic because it takes more ground to grow the same amount. I should of saved that video...... There is a reason why GMO was invented and that is to produce more and do that more easily.
@@scottsoper1213 I get that. But some countries are starting to ban GMOs, based on evidence of what they do to people long term. I'm not a tree hugger, but I do believe that putting the best food source into your body is one of the keys to long term health.
@@wannabedal-adx458 My opinion is that there is no health issue with GMOs any more than with say peanuts. Some people are so allergic to peanuts that they could die if exposed! Should we ban peanuts because of these few? I believe they have banned them on airliners but the rest of us should be able to enjoy them in other locations. Also I do not trust governments to make the correct choice. Yes they are banning GMOs in some places, but is that in the interest of the people or in the interest of a government that wants more power? Netherlands is a perfect example of dictating farm policy in the name of the people and the planet but now they will likely not be exporting food but importing food. Given that Governments seem to believe in Man Made Global Climate Change for political reasons I am inclined to believe that banning GMO food is a similar effort to disrupt and get control just for the sake of power.
@MickfromBrisbane sometimes the answer to that question goes unanswered in this earthly life. My condolences for those struggling with infertility. I think children are such a gift from God, no one can truly be deserving of one. But whatever befalls us, trust in the Lord who is near to the brokenhearted.
Really good to hear about the company. Family owned with great values would make me a customer if I were a farmer. I will talk to my dad about this company and buying their products for his farm. Thank you Laura and Grant.
Thanks for sharing! When I was in college, I worked in the Corn Genetics Dept where the agronomists were developing parent stock for use by the seed corn companies. I was involved in the hand planting, hand harvesting, and hand shelling of the corn. Seeing all the seed stock in that one room took me back.
I loved when employed with Caterpillar going to the trade shows, marketing events, seminars,,, ect.... I wish 15 years ago I had the privilege of UA-cam. What a remarkable marketing tool for you guys! Love it!!!

Btw, if you ever need some extra hand's I'd love to help. The thrill of the harvest and a tight schedule to beat the weather is golden in my mind anyways. Be safe you guy's.
