You have a lot more patience than I do for being becalmed or going really low and making little progress. I start going crazy if Im seeing 2 knots. Im trying to be more patient like you.
Captain - We're not racing for any silver, so... Also Captain - We'll see who comes out the winner of this one... Also Captain - So Ruth Avery takes this one... Classic!
Hey Kevin Thanks for another quality video, I've been enjoying your stuff for a few years now and I sport one of your tee shirts. A quality shirt. I attended the Annapolis Boat Show this past weekend and happened to be wearing your shirt on saturday when I met up with Delos, Calico Skies and Taylor of Taylor's Travels. They all loved your shirt, they stopped and commented on the high quality and how hard that is to achieve. Also though out the day during my walk thru the many boats at the show I was stopped by multiple people all commenting on how much they like your shirt. Many of them encouraged me to tell about this experience so I am. I hope you enjoy it. You have good stuff Kevin and you were well represented at the boat show. Be well my friend.
You are a sailor's sailor, reminding me of John Smith circa 1980, onboard S/Y Mermaid of Carriacou, sailing with no engine in the Caribbean. We migrated to an electric drive Bristol 35.5, hoping to meet you down the road.
I met that guy way back in 2004. I was just beginning sailing and he told me all kinds of crazy stories. I didn't believe him at the time. Then I found his book at a marina in chub cay.
Thanks Charlie, glad that you enjoy the music too, presently working on another piece. Pick up racing is the only fun racing, at least in my experience ...
good to see you Kevin. great video. I liked the shot of the little Herreshoffs at about a minute and a half in. We got to go to Narragansett Bay and sail on a Haven 12 1/2 after the wooden boat show in Mystic, this last summer. good times!
I always suspected that those new fangled Bermudan rigs aren't cracked up to be as good as everyone is saying. They're popular in Australia at the moment but it's probably just a passing fad. Another great video, by the way.
I will like to see you film the things you do on shore . I will like to see you fish take advantage of the ocean.that will make your videos more interesting.
The fall in southern New England has been incredibly mild right up until a couple of days ago. Now, autumn is asserting itself. You got out just in time.
Kevin, maybe it was just me but when you said it was Columbus Day and Chris showed up as it was one his favourite bays...... my head said, Christopher Columbus favorite bays? How does Kevin know that ! 🤪 Lovely to be out with you again, thanks 😊
What is this strange thing you call " Wind" ? I covered 2 miles Saturday in 8 hours..please send this stuff my way. Another great video Kevin...keeping it real. Thanks
@@howtosailoceans1423 I’m seeing the same system here in Reedville. Tides are as high here as I have seen them in years. Right now, winds are from the East unusually warm for this time of year, they are gusting in the 20 to 30 knots.
Hadleys harbor is a real nice spot. While there a few years ago I was swimming off the boat wearing an over large T shirt. Something came up from below and grabbed some of the cloth. I did not get bit or see what it was. But, heard a few years later that the harbor is a nursery for Great White Sharks. I suspect some baby shark took my flowing white T shirt for part of some type of floating carcass and came up for a quick meal.
Just wondering ... at ~9:00 min, you pass a gaff-rigged schooner which has it's upper spars painted white. RA has the same and it seems to be a traditional look. Is (was) there a particular reason for that paint scheme?
It's easier to maintain paint, especially where all of the rigging attaches. The downside of paint is that it is harder to detect rot. It also looks nice ...
@@howtosailoceans1423 Thanks. It does look really good. I was wondering if it helps other boats see the boat from distance - of course, that could have gone either way in wartime or with pirates abroad. Cheers.

the tanbark sails, the hint of fall , the black hull and gaffe rig complete in wood. lucky is this sailor as fall settles in New England
cheers
Broad of the beam is a gaffer's dream! You won that one by a country mile. Was a blast catching up. Fair winds and see you next time around.
Looks like the series will remain tied until the spring ... have a good winter, thanks for all the help with provisioning, etc.
Love these videos, Kevin does all the hard yards while we sit back and enjoy watching
You are heading back to the Caribbean, I guess? Wish I was, too.
Looks like it, still hoping to stop at Bahamas if the covid restrictions aren't too crazy.
A treat, as usual.
Good to hear Kevin and Ruth A. will be heading south to the Chesapeake.

Thank God..I needed this today.

That’s awesome
The fine New England marine tradition of ghosting.
Nice to see the shots of Hadley’s

Chris should put up a spinnaker
Love your work!
Been a wonderful journey following ya mate, pure inspiration ♥️🦄♥️
Kevin, you're becoming addicted to the motor. It was supposed to be for emergencies only. Lol
We were thinking the Same thing during this video..!!
I enjoyed the “race” and the tunes which preceded it particularly. Although I do enjoy it all. Fair winds to you and Ruth Avery!
Thanks Charlie, glad that you enjoy the music too, presently working on another piece. Pick up racing is the only fun racing, at least in my experience ...
Good to see you on the water heading south . Brickhouse is heading north starting Nov you might see them on your travels south .

we would all be all right if the wind was in our sails 🎶 - playing in my head as i watch
I used to enjoy you sailing up to your moorings.

Ruthie is looking sharp and ready to go. Captain even has a "real" haircut! ;-)
"Faster bout"? Wow, you are a New Englander.
There is an intense low centered at 36.05/72.27W I hope you made it into The Chesapeake Bay.
Yes. Presently riding out intense low #2 in Deltaville ...

Ahoy everybody. Ruthie says “Hey you Concordia may be pretty but have you been where I’ve been?”. Thanks again for taking us along.
Excellent adventures. Whats the Manufacturer and length of his boat?
31' on deck, built by Clark Ryder.
Kevin, otro gran video, felicitaciones. Consulta, ¿por que ese tipo de velero no tiene el pujamen suelto, para ajustarlo según sea necesario? Gracias

I had heard that a Great White once got trapped in there ... hmmm, will investigate, I swam there several times.
Kevin, another great video, congratulations. Ask why doesn't this type of sailboat have a loose sail foot to adjust as needed? Thanks
You mean on the mainsail? You could have a loose footed main, it is just a little more secure with the foot laced IMO.
Good show, Kevin... we really liked the framing 🖼 there about 9:05, what kind of rig is that.??
Schooner.
That's the Harvey Gamage. She's a schooner, in this case motoring slowly with just her fore and staysail set.
👍👍👍
How are you enjoying your hard dodger? I think it has given Ruth Avery even more character! It must be great to have a dry open companion way.
Love it so far.
Another great video Kevin - thanks! What is the plan for winter 2021/22?
Still formulating that ...
Does it get any better than sailing in Buzzards Bay? I think not.
The Francis Drake Channel in the Virgin Islands offers some competition, but I agree that BB and Vineyard Sound are magnificent ...

There is nothing ... Except maybe, its like hanging onto a team of horses
slow going. hope it picks up.
À votre santé
Where do you pick up you mooring in Padamaram? Concorida or New Bedford Y.C. or some other place?
It's one of Chris' moorings.
Will you stop in Deltaville?
Here.
@@howtosailoceans1423 Which marina? You picked a heck of a time to visit Deltaville. How long will you be there?
Ahoy from Doha
Ahoy!
Is a topsail needed for Gaff rigs?
No, though it can really help in light winds.
Je boot is ondertuigd?
Nice video but not enough of your music...
