Darla, the wisdom of experience and encouragement in your conversation REALLY make your videos worth watching. "You have this letter in your head, you need to bring it out". Thank you for sharing this part of your life with those who want to be as cool as you!
I'm loving these videos Darla - I'd love to see you do a sign from start to finish - how you design your layout, deciding your fonts and why you chose the font you're using, drawing it out, then painting, shading and lining. It may take a few videos, but I'd find it fascinating. Really enjoying the series over here in the UK. Thanks for doing them.
Wow! I just stumbled on to your video. When I saw your name, I thought that I knew you from along time ago. I think that I bought some "Gerber" software from you. And I think that we were friends on Facebook, many years ago. Nice video. Jeffrey Cross - Cross Signs.
thanks Darla! this was cool to watch. I'm an illustrator trying to get into sign painting. after watching this video I felt compelled to make some popcorn!
I made the exact same journey, from illustrator ( Art institute of Boston (1969) to pinstriping Artist, m/c and hot rod shows nationwide, had the most fun working in Cal. The people there seemed to appreciate my talent and productions more than anywhere else in the country, I settled in Arizona ( love the gun laws here) and still want to live where I’m appreciated the most, which is California! Arizona has a much less ethical population that has no problem copying anything..no shame at all…
What brush are you using? It looks familiar...also when I was trying to get proficient at lettering ,if I left my brush sitting in my thinner can like that I would have earned a slap!
Love your videos I’ve been lettering and painting signs for over 4 years. Love that your taking the time to make these videos. What state do you live in, ever thought about a workshop? I go to Minnesota once in a while to paint with Mike Meyer and it’s always a learning experience and a lot of fun. Keep’em coming!!
And I love your comment about spontaneity. I think there’s a fine line between a “Working” Sign and over analyzing it too much. Your videos are very welcomed and I hope you keep them coming.
Hi, im having a big problem finding one shot paint, can i practice lettering with rustolium paint ? Thanks in advance, your videos are great.........Scott 👍🏆.
I’m in the carnival business as well! I’m actually leaving from you and others so I can have hand lettered signs. It’s all printed vinyl now (as I’m sure you know) and it’s just ugly and boring.
I've really enjoyed checking out these videos. Your signs are super cool, you have a knack for teaching, and you make it look so easy!
I love this lady ..imagine if her and Bob Ross had a baby..oh my god!!!
Ha! You are a doll. Thank you for watching & making me laugh.
I always forget to 'like' Videos - so I've come back again.
Please do more "Inspiring" Vidoes - I hope you are well. ♥
