  • A crash course on using the Big Green Egg grill. From starting it, to temp control to cleaning.
    One thing I forgot to mention is what to do after the charcoal is lit. I close the dome, adjust the vents and allow the temperature to come up slowly. It's much easier to increase the temp then to overshoot and try to drop it down.

    Is it possible to overtemp it during a burnout? I vaguely remember reading something regarding overtemping an egg.

    i'm stuck cant make my mind up yet, if I should get a green egg or a Kamado, all the reviews I've seen so far when they put them against each other it seems the Kamado has the upper hand but before i spend so much money I want to make sure I make the right decision

      At the end of the day, both will work the exact same way. I think it's a personal preference more than anything else. I always wanted a Big Green Egg so that's what I got. That's not to say that there's anything wrong with a KJ.

    Just got my first green egg. I was always under the impression when smoking at least on my other smokers the top vent should be completely open

      Negative. Only crack it open. Same thing with bottom vent. Only on a fast cook, I opened the bottom vent about 2 inches and the top about a inch.
