The one accessory I would put on your list, second only to the plate setter (convEEGtor) is the Big Green Egg Electric Charcoal Fire Starter 600 Watt. I do not find a need for a aftermarket regulator or ash basket; the Egg cooks fine without them.

My top two accessories.. 1. Lump charcoal that's not $30-$40 a bag I think that's ridiculous for charcoal. I'm a new BGE owner and have had good luck with B&B premium lump, average price I'm seeing is around 15 bucks for 20 lb bags. Through my first 3 cooks it has burned extremely well with not much ash. 2. Quality meat.
Not everyone wants to use it as s smoker or for indirect cooking so I guess they figure why make people get it that don't want it. Personally, I couldn't imagine having a BGE without it.
@@FOGOcharcoal I happen not to have enough money one day to get charcoal from Big Green Egg and got a bag from grocery store, they did warn me at Big Green Egg but I thought one time won't hurt and my lifetime insurance gone. I know thousands of people but only when brother has one and that is where I first saw it and was at the store few days later I am only mad at myself. Thanks for spreading good gastronomy
I wouldn't mess with any of the BGE racking systems. The Ceramic Grill Store came up with all of the ideas, that BGE stole, almost 20 years ago. The owner Tom makes all his products in the US and they are better thought-out and build on each other. Here is one example: ua-cam.com/video/S4NqEFNgqV4/v-deo.html
Man…just buy a Kamado joe. I inherited a XL big green egg and I love it but for the money Kamado joe is way better and comes with the divide and conquer system included for direct and indirect cooking. Kamado joe all day. My buddy was looking at a ceramic grill to purchase and I talked him into the classic Kamado joe and he loves it. He has used it so much already for the last 2 weeks and hates that he didn’t get one sooner at a price of $1000. Kamado joe is just better. Period.
That is up to each individual. I'm not here to debate which is better. If you love your KJ then that's good. There are many other factors that go into the decision for many people other than just $$$.
@@FOGOcharcoal oh I don’t have a KJ. If you read my comment you’d know I inherited an XL green egg with every accessory almost and love it. But with the options today….the Kamado joe is king now and especially compared to what you get for the price. Green egg finally started pricing things competitively but a little too late in my opinion.
@@FOGOcharcoal the reason to buy a Kamado joe is all about what you get for the money. Plus a lifetime warranty unlike green egg. Sorry but it’s just a better grill. Period.
...I've had mine for over 15 years, and it will go for another 15+ years easy So, per year, it is very economical It is so much fun, and it allows for experimentation/creativity
It's a kamado dude. It's not just some normal grill. This thing will last your entire life and won't rust. Not to mention it's able to cook so much better than ur traditional 150 dollar Walmart grill. It's really more like a charcoal oven than a walmart grill.
Don't buy the Eggspander. It's made in China and BGE nearly copied the design from the Ceramic Grill Store. Go and buy the Adjustable Rig from The Ceramic Grill Store. Way better options and made in Texas!!! The Eggspander is a complete rip-off from all the years of hard work from Tom and The Ceramic Grill Store.
People are still promoting the false claim the BGE stole the design from the Ceramic Grill Store. The Eggspander is different and way more versatile than the Adjustable Rig. No one mentions the fact some one took a piece of round stock, bent it in a circle, then laid/welded additional pieces across it to create what we all know as a grill grate. Every grill grate since then was a copy of that original one. Buyers will decide for themselves whether they prefer the BGE design, CGS design, or some other design.
i have had both and the KJ is the better of the two strictly because of it already comes with two half moons and the variable height grate. Unfortunately it is made in China whereas the BGE is made in Mexico.

@FOGO Charcoal “As we can all see, The Ultimate Big Green Egg Cookin’ Guide continues 👍🏻. My absolute favorite is the plancha. It makes for some delicious smash burgers.”
Yes yes yes! It certainly does!

Thanks for watching
I’m an owner of over ten years and I’m telling you that the overpriced accessories are just one reason potential customers aren’t buying the BGE!
Thanks for tuning in Pete.
I guess the 5 thumbed down are people that cook on a gas grill they don’t get it lol
Haha, that could very well be. Hey, the way that I look at it is that we can never please all of the people all of the time.....
@@FOGOcharcoal that is true my brother!!
Egghead🥚💚
Through and through!
You can't beat some quality meat
@@FOGOcharcoal Send me a bag of Fogo and I'll give it a try ; )
If the plate setter is so important. It should be included with the grill. But no, they’re going to nickel and dime you for all these extra things.
Not everyone wants to use it as s smoker or for indirect cooking so I guess they figure why make people get it that don't want it. Personally, I couldn't imagine having a BGE without it.
Why your egg is black on the inside?
That’s the color it turns when you cook in it.
@@FOGOcharcoal I happen not to have enough money one day to get charcoal from Big Green Egg and got a bag from grocery store, they did warn me at Big Green Egg but I thought one time won't hurt and my lifetime insurance gone. Hope they make XXXL, I had hoped to keep my XXL in good shape so I can sell it when XXXL comes around
@@FOGOcharcoal I get it but they would help me because I didn't use Big Green Egg charcoal so it remains white. I was doing good for a few years but only one time with another charcoal it went south. No doubt it does wonders but my life time insurance gone. As you and I they cost a lil. I know thousands of people but only when brother has one and that is where I first saw it and was at the store few days later
I am only mad at myself.

Glad you like their stuff! Many of my friends swear by it
Man…just buy a Kamado joe.
Period.
$1500? For a small grill? That's a joke right? The economy must be in pretty good shape if they're still in business.
Yes sir and they are busier than ever. They are not for everyone and fortunately there are more economical grills out there.
...I've had mine for over 15 years, and it will go for another 15+ years easy
So, per year, it is very economical
It is so much fun, and it allows for experimentation/creativity
It's a kamado dude. It's not just some normal grill. This thing will last your entire life and won't rust. Not to mention it's able to cook so much better than ur traditional 150 dollar Walmart grill. It's really more like a charcoal oven than a walmart grill.
When I look at these I can’t help but see an overly expensive Weber kettle grill
They are definitely 2 totally different things, each with their own usefulness.
They definitely have some very good products and accessories!
You're dreaming Mike. I can tell you've done a ton of research.....
@@mikem1436 Mike, I really like the way you think. There are not very many true original thought products out there any more.
This thing looks like a pain in the ass.
which thing?
this is why kj blows the egg outta the water.. its all overpriced bs.
OK, glad you are enjoying your KJ! #GetOutAndGrill
i have had both and the KJ is the better of the two strictly because of it already comes with two half moons and the variable height grate. Unfortunately it is made in China whereas the BGE is made in Mexico.
fantastic video!
Well thank you Erich!
