I recently purchased 3 EM machines from the mid-70’s: Space Mission, Argosy, and Aztec. I have no previous experience with pinball machines, so this video was a huge help in learning the basics. Thank you!
Astonishing! Reminds me of the inside of a theatre organ's relays. Now, it's easy to understand why these machines cost so much. Thanks for the look inside these historical treasures.
Thank you very much , very obvious you definitely no your stuff 👍🏻. Iam restoring and old family machine just needs cleaning and couple adjustments from the movers where little rough with , but your video was very help and professional 🙏
After watching this, I think I like the Bally score motor a lot better than the one on my Target Alpha. It looks like you have easy access to all the switches.
Thanks for this video. I just picked up a Freedom pinball machine by Bally. My 1st one in need of a restore. Setup looks almost identical to the one in this vid. Good job describing things and without this it would have took me forever to figure out how to get the machine open.
Great video, I remember some of the of those you have. Its amazing the wiring, electronics and skill that went into making these. I would love to see one made toady with what is available now.
Excellent summary there. One question, if the pinball has power switched on, can you get electrocuted by touching stuff the way you do in this video? Should you always have the machine turned off if doing anything on the wiring, bulbs etc?
I am almost done with getting my customers Hee Haw from Chicago Coin done. And almost done with cleaning it as well just that alone was about 60 hours just cleaning the machine and cleaning and adjusting the switches. I did get it to stop making a racket so think that is pretty cool for a first time on a EM machine and not know very much about EM's. Only one's up to the HH was just Solid State pins two of which I own and always working on. :)
Very informative video. I am thinking of doing this type of pinball last as I have heard from a lot of sources that EM pinball machines are more harder to get up and running if I were to get a broken pin that needs work.
Muito bom seu vídeo. Jurava que esse modelo eletromecânico possuía um processador, tipo 8080 pelo menos para somar os pontos. No entanto é totalmente mecânico. Que interessante!
Great video, just what I was looking for! I'm currently looking for a captain fantastic machine as my first game so this was great information. Thanks!
Great video, Question if you can help me. I have a 1971 Williams Jackpot machine. It is stuck on player 1 , ball 1. When I press the start button to go to 4 players the player wheel inside rotates as it should. When I press the outhole switch, the outhole relay pulls in , but that is it, it doesn't change to ball no. 2 and the ball stepper in the cabinet does not rotate either. All relays were checked for resistance some measuring more than others but all with resistance. Any idea what I should be looking at? Thanks, Bob
I'm 17 years old and my mom walked into my room and asked, "Hey, do you want a pin ball machine?" Me: Well, I mean I guess Mom: I really want it but I thought it'd be cool for your room Me: Alright Mom: your gonna have to fix it tho. Me:😐 Mom: You might have to spend a few 100 to fix it Me in my head: This could be a really good opportunity for a new hobby and I could learn something Mom: So, you want it? Me: Yep. So here I am. Gonna try my best to fix a broken pinball machine by myself.
I have a question. When I push the front button to select one or two players. The chimes start ringing and won’t shut off. My grandson kept holding that button down and now this is happening. What do I do to get it to stop? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the info. I have a 1973 bally odds and even pinball. wont do anything. plug it in and no power. does the transformer have anything to do with it? i did check the fuses all good. Thanks
i have a bally freedom that was handed down. after playing 1 game the ball goes down the drain and will not go to the shooter lane. game is also in “game over” mode what is the fix for this? is there any type of reset button or similar? thanks
Miles Dyson it actually doesn’t take that long to build one. You can look up how it’s made video and they have some pretty amazing jigs that they used to do all of the wiring etc.
After all these years, still nothing beats your videos and pinball repair guide. Can't thank you enough.
I repaired a lot of machines between 1975 and 2000. I really miss it.
Amazing technology for something that’s up to 50 years old !

Very helpful for the basic terminalogy and overall discrimination of parts
Great presentation! Thank you for that rapid fire, high-density, information packed video!

I just got a Bally Hang Glider game and pretty excited to get it working. It's my first machine. Thanks for the video.
Wow... all basic you need about EM pinball explained in a straight forward, fast pace but very understandable. Thanks.
Man that’s a whole lotta stuff in there. Great video.
Thank you very much , very obvious you definitely no your stuff 👍🏻. Iam restoring and old family machine just needs cleaning and couple adjustments from the movers where little rough with , but your video was very help and professional 🙏
Fantastic to see all that wonderful electro mechanics instead of microchips and integrated circuits
Imagine designing those parts without the aid of computer design programs. Clever individuals back then.
Greatly appreciate all you have given us for pinball Clay. Can't thank you enough.

EM games look crazy when you lift up the playfield.

Very informative video.

Your videos have been really helpful..most of my problems were spring tension in stepper units
This was a real life(and possibly machine)saver. Old video, but still thanks a lot for this. :)
Thanks for the info. I am just getting into this and am looking forward to learning. You made this easy to understand.
Keep up the good work, great and in depth video, thank you.

#engineering Good ol' American ingenuity, eh? Love those old electromechanical units...
Great video, just what I was looking for! I'm currently looking for a captain fantastic machine as my first game so this was great information. Thanks!

NIce basic overview...like your videos
Call me crazy, but I always feel more comfortable working on a game with the legs attached. Nice intro to electros, tho.
In his other video he forget to mention to spray Hair-Spray above the score reels and the over all mechanisms. It prevents dust buil-up. he said.

Way to much shit in those to even want to mess with it , LOL
Wonder How Long it took to build one New and to engineer the whole thing ?
Miles Dyson it actually doesn’t take that long to build one. You can look up how it’s made video and they have some pretty amazing jigs that they used to do all of the wiring etc.
Wow so that machines only made $1859 since the 70s? According to the play meter, and that’s not even enough to pay for the machine probably
Well done video but not a repair video. I would love to donate but there are no repair tips.
Is that Shaggy?
Shaggy in another 42 years... Maybe 37
What if my machine doesnt have a latch...
Uauuuu
Hi. Go to this guys web site. Lots and lots of great information. A donation if you get some help that you need would be a good idea also.
I was born in 1976 😊 Please don't disassemble me
Too much echo
I have a 1776 freedom unit. The back box scoring works but it won’t light up. Any ideas?
