That would have been nice, but that goes for every one of the restorer videos on this channel.

Brings back memories. My father ran a pinball machine business when I was growing up. I was the only one I knew that had a pinball machine in their basement. He would change it out every so often. Then on Saturday's I got to go to his shop and while he went out on his collection rounds, I got to play as much pinball as you can imagine. That is how I got really good. Wasn't a machine that I could not beat, then he switched careers and I got older. Our last machine, Sweet Heart, was still in the basement 10 years ago but I was late on the pickup and he sold it for like a hundred dollars. It was older than this machine. It as a nickel machine with the plunger ball feed. This one was one of the newer machines with an auto ball feed. The main thing with any of the old machines is the back glass. Finding machines with the back glass intact or undamaged is really difficult but that back glass makes the machine.

39 hours is about right. I've restored many like this... good to see someone else vacuuming out the ... stuff.

That snap sound when you got a replay was out of this world, especially on the game called "Cross Town" when the middle target was on SPECIAL and you could keep hitting it by taking aim with your flippers and then the trolley door would open. I remember that game from around late 1969 to 1970, my era of playing it. A great thrill would be, if perhaps you stayed away from the pinball arcade for a month or so and then on your next visit, a new game would be there and you'd get hooked on it for about a 2 month period. You'd hope on subsequent trips nobody would be playing it so that you wouldn't have to waste your precious quarters on a substitute game waiting for your favorite to free up.

I was disappointed at how little footage was shown of the actual restoration process

  • @dr.davespinballrestoration3764

At 3:20 the total play meter says 14020
Then later at 4:06 when he comments on the playmenter it changed to 69306 🤔

I've been restoring pinball machines for 30 years. This man charges way to little for what he did with this game to bring it back from the rusty mouse poopy dead.
If a customer brought this to me, I would have told him it would have been not economicial for him to restore as it would have cost $5000 + but then again I have new parts I would put into it like a real red start button and new bells from The Pinball Resource in NY.

That looks very similar to my Twinky unit from Chicago Coin. My aunt and uncle purchased it at the board walk in the coast.

The 10s bell that mounts on the match unit is missing also as it was mine. 3 bells total and night and day difference in sound.

ua-cam.com/video/lQ68uXQT9yY/v-deo.html - although I am envious of the condition of the back glass and cabinet on this machine....although I paid maybe $500 USD

mid 70s My Pops bought a table by the same game maker. "buckaroo" when you get the special the horse would buck and kick the cowboy and he would spin then come back just to get kicked in the bum again. That's funny shit to an eight year old boy!

Lot of work on that pinball machine wasn’t covered in this video. There are a lot of hours fixing up that machine. The purchase price of $150 is cheap, but the repair costs make up for the difference. He has to be into that machine for s good bit

Never call yourself "Dr. Pinball" unless you know everything. And pinball people will always tell you that you never know everything. So just don't do it.

I appreciate the machine being restored and the guy did a fab job, but all done to move it on was kind of disappointing. The machine had life saving heart surgery for crying out loud and like a dog no one likes it's being sent back to animal sanctuary until a new home can be found... The machine deserved better. 😉

thumbs down for only making it a short 'show' with almost none shown of the restoration. You could have left the whole section of communication with the owner out and made it all about restoring this old pinball. The buying and selling side kick story has no added value. All in all a bad video about a great pinball subject
