Pinball Resource also has the grease you used on the stepper units. It’s my understanding that Steve had this specially formulated just for this application AND you would be supporting a small business. As far as I’m concerned, Steve’s judgment is gospel on these Gottlieb machines.
Looks great. I like the 2 player games rather than the 4 players. The backglass shows more art and they look less cluttered as they don’t have the 2 extra score reels. The flipper hacks should be interesting to watch you sort out. Your buddy is gonna be very happy.
Amazing how well things worked for the condition of the game. If the rest of the rubber rings and flippers were there, I bet it would heal itself just from playing it. Very cool game.
Funny story, I was dealing with a company that made a commuter plane for commercial use. Their documents showed a 50 seat plane with a 75 seat option. I asked them how we could get the 250 seat option every airline has. The manufacturer said they specifically tell them not to do that And they said the airlines always laugh and say " Load Factor is just a number " I don't fly anymore Most flights take off at 105 to 110 max capacity There is a margin of error, but at some point the plane just won't lift off the ground. So each time you see a plane that crashed through the end of the runway and fence, they had too high a LF. But MO WEIGHT = MO MONEY
Joe... once again... thank you for assisting Ron on assessing the condition of this pinball machine. Brilliance as always. I remember playing this pinball at Billy Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee while waiting for a flight to military training after holiday leave. That was circa 1987. I recall it being in ok condition when I played it, but cannot remember any specifics. I guess I liked enough to remember it. 😀 Thank you for all you do. Be safe and be well.
You need to get some crime scene tape to string across when you find one hacked up like that! But I'm sure it is in Joe's [detailed] notes of what is wrong.
How do you repair wallowed out posts that need to be tightened? The Minneapolis airport where the first “Airport” was filmed had a pinball arcade. I could walk to the airport from my Mom’s old house and spent some of my wasted youth and dimes in the machines. This was a time when you didn’t have to have a ticket to hang out there. I was deep in my depravity by 1970, drove Mom’s car to the airport and saw some of the sets for the film hopping to catch a glimpse of Jackie Bisset, I didn’t .
My pristine Airport Machine is working great but one issue. Machine is set to free play. When I score a free game, the free game reel does not increment, the knocker knocks but then the coil on the knocker does not release and just buzzes. Any advice would be appreciated and willing to pay for your time. Thanks
"Oh Stewardess, I speak jive." 🤔 Oh, wait a sec, that's Airplane! Totally different game. 😅 Looks like another good one that I'd love to have! Gonna be a fun one! Thanks for filming it (yes, I said film - deal with it) 😎
Joe or Ron have you ever tried the WD-40 "DRY LUBE" version for moving parts on a pinball? Sometimes, I need to have a spray to use in moving parts and thought a dry lube would work. But, I defer to your professional knowledge... what do you think?
thanks... just know that sometimes, I don't have time to take something apart and would like to use a spray lube in places less accessible. I don't think they make a Super Lube type of dilectric grease in spray, right?@@vicferrarisgarage
The melting thing he's referring to next to the coin meter I've heard these cold tag strips oftentimes much like those in the old radios and televisions! Still available today if I remember correctly
I have a pristine Airport that I have had for 30 years. If you need some pictures please let me know.
+1 for pinball resource. They've always been real helpful

Nice to have people bring these to you for repair. I haven't seen any "needs repair" older machines on Craigslist in ages.
Love the look, theme, and layout! Looking forward to seeing this machine getting back to making people smile!
Very sweet. Love the vari targets. Thanks!

It’s Broke! Haha. Love it. Keep em coming boys!

This game came out in 1969. I love it.
That is retro.
I love it❤

this is going to be a fun one.
Every time you play a pinball game in your video I think of the song "Pinball Cha Cha" by Yello

I’m not sure Gottlieb took full advantage of the college queens theme.
Hey Ron!!
Hey Joe!! Brevity is the soul of wit:
It's broke.
Hey Jason!

Hi. International audience here. We preferred the title Flying High! A different name to the same game.
@@gorillaau Are you from Drambuie on the Barbary Coast? That's where Ted Striker was posted during the war... 🤪
