    Love your channel bro. Quick question, for the absolute best sound quality, in all the earphones, earbuds you've listened to, which do you think are the best for the gym?
    Great channel

    I do perceive the different in the codecs you've used on the Nothing phone in this video. However I am personally using the Pixel 7 with AAC and I have to say that codec sounds pretty good to me. To me with all earbuds this is much more about frequency response. If you use tuning with a smooth pink noise it can also sound very detailed on those lower regarded codecs like AAC even on Android phones. In my opinion in this example the mids and high frequencies sound better on the iPhone over AAC then with the Nothing phone on LDAC. I am personally tuning my earbuds on the given codec and it means I'd have to use different settings on AAC compared to LDAC to get the tonality right for me. It can be really tricky to get the right tonality in the mids, upper mids to highs region. That is a very tricky region to get right and to sound natural in my opinion. In all the tuning I do I listen to pink noise if that sounds right and also binaural recordings of nature sounds to check on realism of the mids and treble frequencies too. For me tuning is not all about boosting the frequencies, but more so about balancing the frequency response and that really opens up the sound as well to a sound that is more detailed and much more open and transparent.

      Im using wired iem nowadays and not tws anymore. I used Sony wf1000xm4 before but the battery only last for 9 month something until it has a draining issues and now it's completely unusable. So much for a new tech... This is not only happened on my sony earbuds but also a lot of other Bluetooth earbuds i own before. Im getting sick of replacing it for a new one every couple of months thts why im going back to iem..

    Hey Aaron! In short, two questions:
    1. I saw you wearing a Ferrari cap in the previous videos since you got a 'fresh' haircut. Are you a supporter of Scuderia Ferrari F1 team? or it's just a random cap you choose to wear?
    2. I would like to know would the frequency response curve have slight differences under the use of different codec?

    Hence, I'm using AAC for longer battery consumption.

    It is obvious that some type of equalization is being applied by the manufacturer (phone or headphones) when LDAC is selected. No way a codec would change the characteristics of the sound this much.

    Would you more recomend Nothing Ear (2) or Sony True Wireless WF-1000XM4? I have feeling that Sony WF-1000XM4 are becoming litlle bit obsolete and have problems with batteries, but they are tested and proven in real live. On the other hand Nothing Ear looks good and they have good value for their price.

    I think it's not all about the codecs. For example Edifier w240tn has only SBC but on all reviews they say that their sound quality is top notch! So the tuning is very important! For models that have higher bit rate codecs maybe it makes difference if you use them on SBC/AAC vs LHDC/LDAC and maybe it is made this way on purpose so that the customers say "yeah, the sound on lhdc/ldac is better than sbc/AAC". But it's all speculations and theories.

    AAC sounded great on my Galaxy Note 9 and Windows 11 laptops, but sounds pretty trash on my S23 Ultra - the bass often delays with a doubling effect while the treble distorts intermittently. It might just be an optimization issue for that phone but I was surprised how much worse it sounded.

    Are you sure you were using AAC on the phone 1? I’ve done similar test myself, and discovered when disable HD audio, it default to SBC. I think this is due to how crap AAC is on android. You need to enable AAC in the developer menu.

    Interesting that AAC on an iPhone is similar. That may be because Apple has invested a lot in AAC since that's the best you're getting with Apple's own buds and headphones.

    OMG I found exactly this and thought I was mad at first. I'd go even further and say that I prefer the iPhone sound - it's less muddy and sounds really similar to AirPod Pro 2 sound. The volume also seems higher than on the Nothing phone.
    Nothing have a chance to improve this - especially the low volume on Android - but I still am frustrated that they went LDHC not LDAC.

      Ldac is patented by sony, so it's gonna be very expensive if they wanna use another company's tech for they're product's since it's still they're competition, also i don't get why you're angry sinde ldac an ldhc have practically the same characteristics

    Better than samsung hifi codec?

  • @torom86
    @torom86 7 місяців тому

    I tried Sony WF-1000XM5 with both LDAC and AAC with an original CD played with my Sony 4k bluray player that supports both LDAC and AAC. I couldn't tell the difference, honestly. I perceive it more on my Samsung A52 using UA-cam music, although the bitrate is just 256. I think it's true that Android's AAC codec is bad, but the difference with LDAC is not dramatic as the sound is still worse than through my PC and my bluray player using AAC. And the same happens with the Momentum TW3, no dramatic difference between AAC and aptX on my Android, and way better through AAC over PC and bluray player than through aptX over my Android phone.

    I look at hi-res like bio food. You can't always taste the difference, but you know it's probably better for you. So much of our perception is influenced by the subconscious. Better quality could matter more than what meets the ear.

    It seems lhdc on iphone is losing something in terms of soundstage (like the right earbud has lower volume and bass).
    It's amazing what iphone can do when it uses a lower bitrate codec vs a lossless one.

    I tested LDAC bluetooth drivers on Win10 with Sony wh-1000xm4. I couldn't tell a difference between LDAC with 900kbit/s and SBC with 300kbit/s (DSEE was on)
    Difference was nowhere near your samples in the video, no idea why.
    So I experienced no upside to the better codec, just the downside of stuttering connections if other things like a xbox controller where connected to (Audio would start to stutter because of limited bandwidth)

    • @TheGamingAudiophile
      @TheGamingAudiophile Рік тому +6

      It's processor intensive. iPhones are more powerful than Androids and have a more efficient OS.

    • @aaronloudnwireless
      @aaronloudnwireless  Рік тому +3

      What @TheGamingAudiophile said. It's the hardware. Apple's AAC implementation is more efficient and standardized across their devices, a major edge over the fragmented nature of Android's AAC implementation.

  • @vjs857
    @vjs857 Рік тому +1

    There is nothing important about hi-res (especially earphone ).
    To understand the subtle differences with mp3, you need to have an amplifier and a headphone or monitoring speaker (which is still not a big difference and the difference is as much as double Atmos on/off in mobile )
    Nothing , came to advertise, weakened the AAC in his earphones so that hi_res shines more
    But with the same AAC iPhone that you are comparing, you will understand that this trick was from Nothing
