    I do remember the standard truma system. Very unreliable, moving about inside the barrel.
    Used this system for over 12 years.

    Phil, when I'm on a serviced pitch, I use a continuous water system that screws into the side of the Aquaroll. It works in the same way as a toilet cistern to maintain a constant supply of water.

    We have been using the same truma pump shown here and it has stopped working. Can I ask if the whale pump fits into the socket that we have for the truma (note the truma we have is exactly the same (filter only) as you show at the start

      @@lostweekendscaravan thank you so much for your this. I will try the filter and also ‘straightening’ my truma pipe so that it hits the bottom of the aqua roll. I’m sure it will be one of these things 🤞
      The light for the pump on the control panel is continuously flashing so I don’t think it’s the onboard pump?!

      @@lostweekendscaravan morning! Right, I checked the filter it was clean. It appears the hose part of the truma had come away inside the trigger.
      I would still like to know if I can use a whale pump (the type with a pump end in the aquaroll) rather than a filter ended one? Is this connection the same? (Will it fit etc) is there an advantage to the pump end?
      Thanks 🙏

    Thanks for the video. Can some please tell me what happens when the I internal tank fills up and you are connected to mains? Are we then meant to turn of the mains or does it automatically stop filling up? Hope this question makes sense

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  3 роки тому

      Hello. Good question. The pump should stop. Do not turn off. as the water is used the pump will kick in again, so on and so on. If your caravan is quite new, an alarm will sound when the water barrel is empty. If the barrel is empty turn off the pump and refill the water barrel. I hope this helps. Phil🙂👍

    Hi Phil, silly question but the whale pump does it plug straight into the Truma inlet and work the same as the original inlet pipe I assumed that it had a pump on the end like the older outboard pumps that went into the aquaroll. We definitely had problems with the the pipe floating I tried several ways to fix it none really work that well. Definitely need to tie the flap down we've been laid in bed many a night listening to it clattering. Great video, just goes too show that a caravaning veteran can still learn things.
    Best wishes Jon and Karen

    A good watch. Following on from some of the other comments, is the whale submersible pump a very expensive weight? I had a trauma submersible on my old Caravan which I swapped out for the whale pump in your film , I now have the same water intake but use an adapted aqua roll pump adapter, it’s works well for £7 I have seen others who use a piece of water pipe which is even cheaper to ensure the intake doesn’t float to the top of the aqua roll. Are there any other benefits to using the whale submersible pump? Unfortunately I gave mine away When I changed my caravan.

      Hi Stephen. It is about £60 but shop around it is Whale EP1642. It is heavier than the Truma but that is the point it sinks to the bottom of the aquaroll and draws all the water. It weighs 99.8 grams. It is very well made and I feel worth the money. Your adapter is a great product. I did a quick fix on my Truma with pipe whilst away on my first trip out. I recorded it on the channel. Hope this helps. Phil🙂👍

    Hi Phil, was that a weight on the end of the whale pipe that went into the aqua roll, also for the serviced pitch does the mains water affect the internal pump? Thanks Daz

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  4 роки тому

      Hi Darren. At the end of the Whale is weighted pump but the pump is bypassed by the caravan pump but is causes no harm. The mains water pipe is not under pressure so it doesn't effect the pump. It works just like water being drawn from an Aqua Roll. I hope this makes sense. Thanks Phil👍🙂

      @lostweekendscaravan Hi Phil, the whale connection looks like it's got an electric connector at the caravan end,and it looks like a pump on the water barrel end, not a filter.
      I have a coachman 575 2017, which has an internal water pump. I bought the truma pipe as shown in your video it's bloody useless.

    Hi Phil, so the whale pipe will fit my new 4SB ok. I assume as the pump at the end of the whale pipe will not be connected electrically due to having an onboard pump, the water will still pass through it when the onboard pump kicks in.

    • @lostweekendscaravan

      Hi Kev. If you buy one all you need to do is turn on the mains tap half way. You do still need the pump on. When you go out for the day. Turn off the mains and the pump plus the Boiler. You should not have any issues but Whale and Truma Recommend you do this. I think they are great it saves so much time filling the Aquaroll up. Many Thanks Phil🙂👍

  • @edwardbullman4598
    @edwardbullman4598 4 роки тому +1

    Hi Phil
    I was watching this and got a little confused because the ultra flow that first showed in the video was for a caravan that has an inboard water tank and pump but you the said you use a whale pump which you showed in the video is a submersible external pump for use with caravans that don’t have an internal tank and pump that is why if you look at the connector on the whale unit it has two electrical terminals to provide power to the pump that is submerged in the aqua-roll so you are using the wrong type of unit
    My van is the type that has no inboard tank or pump so when I setup I have run all the taps to fill the system up before I can switch the boiler on for hot water as my first van I didn’t do this and burnt out the electric heating element which was not easy to replace

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  4 роки тому

      Hi Edward. I am guessing that you have an older Caravan as I don't know your system. The Whale system I now use still draws the water they same way the Truma one does. The electric terminals are bypassed. The reason I use the Whale one is it for better quality and is better weighted to draw the water and has no effect to the water pump or system. I hope this explains your question. Thanks Phil👍🙂

      lost weekends caravan Hi Phil my caravan is a 2019 mid range van so not that old and has a complete whale system with external pump which I think is more common than internal pumps as when I was looking round for a new van most were external pumps

  • @petergilbert29
    @petergilbert29 4 роки тому

    I'm brand new to this, so sorry if this a stupid question. The Truma Ultraflow that you're replacing has just a filter on the end. The Whale EP1642, is that just a filter on the end or is it a submersible pump? Our van, which we take ownership on the 7th September has an onboard pump. I'm guessing that if the Whale fitting is a submersible pump it wouldn't be suitable for us? Many thanks for any help!
