Hi Phil You could have mentioned that on CMC club sites you have to put the plug in and twist it clockwise until it clicks to turn on power. To disconnect you need to press the blue button before pulling it out.
Hi Colin. Thanks for this. I have to admit I have never come across this at Club sites but I have only been to 5. I will pin your comment to help others. Thanks Phil🙂👍
Great tips as usual phil, could you do a video on closing up caravan and what to do with electrics as in how to leave all settings when in storage please
Nice one Phil good info for new beginner's I've cut my 25 metre cable in half and put one male plug on one and and a female on the other so if board is close use a short one save fatin about with access wire I've never had a problem putting the electric cables together if needed as the plugs a fairly water tight I don't even use a wheel to roll cable away just put them in a cable bags much easier cheer kev
Hi Kev. Thats a good idea. Mine is 15 metres which for me is enough. Mine came on the reel which is handy sometimes but can be a pain. Hope you are well. Phil🙂👍
Good tips Phil. I've cringed in the past when I've seen someone walking back from the hookup post with their live cable; a tazer! Thanks for sharing/ Mart 'n' Jo.
More good tips there Phil. I carry two lengths of cable, a 25m and 10m. All 10 holidays in 2019 never had to use the 25m because the hook up bollard was close enough for the 10m cable. Cheers Rob
Great tips Phil one thing we always do when packing away the cable is as we put it back onto the storage reel I wipe the cable over with on cloth to remove any dirt and also if packing up early in the morning to dry off any dew (making sure it's unplugged first) then it goes away clean and ready for the next time. Stay safe best wishes Jon and Karen
Thanks Mark & Coral. I hope all these little video are useful. I recall my hand over but not thing that was said to me. I was more interested in everything being correct and the was no marks etc. Take care Phil🙂👍
Good stuff Phil, all useful tips for beginners and also great reminders for all of us, especially on the safety elements... ✅ ⚡️ Cheers for now matey, Rog... 👍🏻 😉 🐍
Thanks Rog. I am pleased with the videos so far. It can be difficult making these videos as they tend to be examined by experienced Caravanners. Thanks so much Phil🙂👍
Hi Thanks for watching. Yes don't put it underneath. The cable can get hot and there a surge it could catch fire. Better leaving in the open which helps to keep it cool. Thanks Phil🙂👍
Hi. If there is no electric hook up then you are off gridding. If you park it on the driveway you can buy a standard plug adapter so you can plug in to a domestic supply. Hope this helps. Phil🙂👍
Hi Carl Good Question. If the cable heats up and catches fire it will no doubt catch the van alight too. When on a pitch I tend to loop the cable at the rear of the van usually on the grass and run just a single length along the side.. I hope this helps. Phil👍🙂
@@lostweekendscaravan very helpful thank you ,I was a bit nervous to try it incase it blew up .iv searched the internet no one seems to have a video on it .thank you 😊
Sorry Davie Just seen this. Without pictures I cannot help. Best to reach me on FaceBook (Page Name same as channel). I hope you sorted this out. Phil🙂👍

More top tips Phil. Still can’t believe how many hook up cables I see on the reel whilst on site. Cheers Martin
Thanks Martin. Yes I agree you see so many. I hope we can all persuade them it's dangerous. Thanks Phil🙂👍
Top tips and advice as usual. Keep them coming as these will help new caravanners.

Top tips there Phil. I don't have my electric cable on a reel but I will keep the placement of the cable firmly in mind on future outings.
Thanks. It will be worth it in the long term. Thanks Phil🙂👍
Useful information Phil thanks for taking time to do this vid
Thanks Ann. I just wanted to share what we had learned from the many mistakes we had. Thanks so much Phil🙂👍

Hi Rob. Thanks Yes I agree 25ms is more for Euro Campsites. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Great video Phil. We still see people with their cables on a reel or wound up. Thanks for sharing. Hope you Juliet and Alfie are well. Ian.
Hi Ian. Yes they are both fine. Alfie is getting bored. I hope this video helps folk realise how dangerous a wound cable is. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Great vid. I’ve also come across some connections that to need to turn the plug slightly to turn on and then press red button to release the plug
Hi Rob. Thanks. I have never come across these junction boxes yet. I understand now that some CAMC sites have them. Thanks for watching. Phil🙂👍
Super helpful, thanks so much! :)
You're so welcome Lena Happy Holidays. Phil🎅👍
Another good video Phil. I've always placed the excess cable (unravelled) under the caravan to protect it from the elements. Should I stop doing this?
Hi Thanks for watching. Yes don't put it underneath. The cable can get hot and there a surge it could catch fire. Better leaving in the open which helps to keep it cool. Thanks Phil🙂👍
Yes thankyou you will be pleased to know I do exactly the same ........... phew 😅 thought there I was in trouble for a minute
You can do it! Gavin I know you can. Thanks Phil🙂👍
Is there an alternative box you can use if you don’t have an electrical box on site?
Hi. If there is no electric hook up then you are off gridding. If you park it on the driveway you can buy a standard plug adapter so you can plug in to a domestic supply. Hope this helps. Phil🙂👍
You also use a generator or one of the new rechargeable battery battery pack. Thanks Phil.
Our van is 14 years old - could this cable be stolen at all?
Hi I have not known of any stolen. The battery box can be locked there securing the cable. Thanks Phil. 🙂👍
Another great informative video Phil thanks for sharing
Hi Karina. Thanks I have watched your vlog but yet to comment. Will catch very soon. Phil🙂👍
Can I do this with solar ?
Hi Your solar cables attach to the battery direct via the control unit. I hope this helps. Phil👍🙂
Hi, why do you not put cable under van?
Hi Carl Good Question. If the cable heats up and catches fire it will no doubt catch the van alight too. When on a pitch I tend to loop the cable at the rear of the van usually on the grass and run just a single length along the side.. I hope this helps. Phil👍🙂
Hi can anyone tell me how to plug the caravan into a house socket. Thank you
Hello. Yes you can plug into a house hold socket but you will need a Domestic plug adapter. Hope this helps. Thanks Phil👍🙂
