WOW!! I could watch you paint allllll day! I love rewatching and continuing to learn! Thank you 🙏
Thanks. Please see more of my fabulous tuition at my own online course www.paintingwithnicola.com/
WOW Nicola--This is by far the best video I've seen on painting a crashing wave--and I've watched a ton of them. It looks so real and your instructions are simple and easy to follow. I am going to practice, practice, practice this one for sure. You're the best! Thanks so much. ⛱
Indeed.
Great, give it a go.
Oh, my goodness. The timing to find this video. I did a quick night moonlit ocean wave practice last night and found a few techniques to worth it and wrote in ink sections that are to be done in the order that's needed. Your techniques I'll have work on today. I really like how this piece turned out for you. The flat edge brush for the curve of the wavy and then softening it, I can do that. As for the waves, I'll have to draw them out lightly and use acrylic white in some areas. I've noticed over the years though that not that many watercolorists will tackle a moonlit night ocean and waves crashing on rocks. I'm about to do that in the next few weeks. I have loads of practice ahead of me and I've been studying as many videos as I can gather and photos, of course. Thank you for posting this. I think you just helped me save my painting.
Well that's really good to hear. Allk the best with your painting.
THANK YOU! What a wonderful instruction for painting my favorite subject...the ocean! I am going to try to do this today! Just beautiful! Super!

What type of brush are you using Nicola?is it a natural animal hair brush or synthetic?
Beautiful wave! Did you have a reference photo?
Can't really remember, I guess I looked as some photos on line.
I would love to watch the next part of this video. Happy to pay but I can’t find it. Is this because it’s three years ago and no longer available?
Thanks. There is a full course about painting different types of water here painting-with-nicola.newzenler.com/courses/how-to-paint-water-techniques-to-help-you-paint-believable-water-effects Enjoy
My husband purchased a course for me for Mother's Day. How do I access it? Thanks for your help.
I have lots of courses on different sites. Can you tell me where he purchased it from and what's called?
@@PaintingwithNicola How to paint a wave in watercolor
I haven't painted in a while and I would like to access the course. Thank you
Im Just a beginner and starting to figure out watercolor, should i buy a mini set of Winson and Newton? Or do you think with starting a palet kind of thing of aquarels is good enough, because that is easier, i really need advise❤
Marit de Bruin if you are a beginner I would suggest you start with limited colour palette, you will understand the colour mixing in a better way and as the need be keep building it, like buy more colours as you need.
Windsor and Newton pocket box is also a good option as the colour selection is very good in it and you can create a great range of colours and it's very affordable. Hope this helps.
How did you finish it?
Have you done a video on Portraits ? Have drawn portrait now do not know where to begin
I followed your tutorial and asked my brother what is this , he said grass and a sky..... I said I have failed
Yeah , I just couldn't get the ripples , I'll keep trying
Bonjour magnifique, dommage je ne comprends pas l Anglais
Where's the finished piece?!
That was the finished piece. It was a demo from a course about painting water.
what brand of water paint do you use?
Where is the rest of this painting?
This didn't come out right

Speak up, woman. I'd love to hear what you have to say. It's a nice lesson.
IF I had difficulty hearing Nicola on this video, I can think of 10 different *polite* ways of asking her to adjust the volume next time she records/uploads! Great job, Nicola
Turn on closed caption. I had a few areas i couldn't hear well, but cc filled in the gaps. Nice lesson. Appreciate your efforts. & enjoyed the process. Can't wait to give it a go. Love that you love to play with color.
