  • Restoration of a beautiful Glashütte Spezimatic Bison dating around the 70s, watch made in DDR Germany . The case is in gilded brass, diameter 36mm. The condition of the watch was good, the movement was in perfect working order even if with too much oil inside, i don't know when the last service was done. The Watchcase had many signs of use including many scratches; the gilding was lost in the upper corners and on the strap attachment.
As a result, the watch has been again plated with 24 karat gold and the total service of the movement. Even scratched glass has been polished, eliminating almost all scratches.

Hi: I have a Glashütte with the same caliber and a champagne dial with numbers at 12, 3, 6 and 9. The case is in good shape, it is bronze colored. I'm not a watchmaker but I have many tools and I think I'm able to service it. Your video will help me do the task. Watching your video made my day. Greetings from Medellín, Colombia.

Oh wow, I have this very same watch. I bought it because it looked cool in the photos but when it arrived I was very disappointed, I thought it might be a Franken watch. Seeing yours I now think that was because of the mismatched ristflex bracelet it had (ugh!) and black leather is what it really wants. I should take mine out of the watchbox it's in at the back and look at it in a new light now. Thanks for posting!

GuB made great watches, considering what they could work with. I got a similar one with a date and rocket indices.

    Hello!
    Nice Video and great Work!
My father past away in 2017 and he had the exact same watch as in the video!
    Also with that red dial.
He bought it in the 70ies and wore it every day for about 30years.
I guess it was not easy to get them in the GDR and was expensive i guess.
As far as i know, it was never serviced. But its in good condition. Some minor scratches on the case an one tiny one on the glass/acryl.
It runs quite well, but it is a little slow.
I will give it to a watchmaker these days and hope, that it will not be to expensive.
    What do you think?
And then there is the story about the water resistance, my father told me.
They were in a bar with a few guys, and because my father worked a lot even before the studium, he could afford this watch.
But no one of the other students believed of the GUB Quality, because RUHLA-Watches were from minor quality.
There was the joke: "Ruhla watches are watersealed. Water gets in, and then never gets out again."
Sooo, they made a bet. For the next round of beer. So my dad had to prrof, that this watch is waterreisitant and dropped it into the beer. :D
I will never sell this watch. I know this watch since i can think.

Surely a complete service will make it look like new again.
