We've done the Prairie Club/ Wild Horse trip twice with our 12 person golf outing. We are from Indiana, fly to Denver. On the way too or from Prairie Club we also play Bayside in Ogallalla, Nebraska way out in western Nebraska. It was hard to get the guys psyched about a Nebraska trip but they all love it now. It's second in our favorite destinations, behind only Bandon.
I live in Kearney and Awarri my play of choice followed by the short drive to Wildhorse. Also grew up 10 miles from Danneborg. It's pronounced Dan-a-brog and Goth-in-berg. If you're ever around Kearney again, I'll take you to Centura Hills in Cairo
Loved these two Nebraska travel golf videos. Hope you can find time to make many more. Heading to Islip, NY at the end of October, any hidden gems around there?
You need to watch my video on Montauk Downs! That's a real hidden gem as well and well worth the drive. Don't forget to hit the Bethpage courses as well.
I grew up playing Dannebrog, for the money there is no better place to learn to golf, $20 membership, and you mostly have the course to yourself. As someone else said Centura Hills in Cairo is a very good course. I belong to there and Wild Horse and at times they can be somewhat similar. Your next trip you should try the eastern part of the state. York CC, Beatrice CC, Arbor Links, the Lincoln municipal courses are a collection of the best municipal courses anywhere, Quarry Oaks, Iron Horse are all great choices. Nebraska is a great golf destination, only problem is the distance between courses. It’s 350 miles from Nebraska City to Valentine and that’s only 2/3 of way across the state.
Iron Eagle is on the South Platte River :) You said North Platte River, which join in the town of North Platte (or just outside) to form the Platte River. Along the North Platte River (kinda) is River's Edge, which is an old (they say approx 1920) and short course which used to have some interesting trees but now (after Dutch Elm came through in the 60's and 70's) it's fairly mundane, but still has a couple of interesting holes.
I drove up after this trip and played a few courses in South Dakota as well. Sutton Bay being the best of the bunch. I would stay in Nebraska though as the amount of great golf is much better imo.
Excellent writing & narration.
Well done.
I'm sending the links to my little brother the PGA pro.
He started his career in Nebraska.
Nice.
Thanks for the kind words! I hope your brother likes it as well.

Kearney, it’s pronounced, “Carney”, lol.
I am from white plains ny and love your golf course choices . Absolute charm.
Thanks so much checking out the videos. You would probably enjoy my blog as well. Peaceful-golf.com in depth looks at all 18 holes.

And when you make it to Centura Hills make sure you pronounce it Care-O not like the one in Egypt. Also go to Tatanka
There is a new course under construction you will want to check out when it opens. Landmand in NE Nebraska

Easy to watch, informative but what about driving north to South Dakota?

I tried to keep this review just in Nebraska but since you asked I will put something together for you!
Can we see part 1?
Pronounced Car-Knee
They also struggle with Gothenberg. And Busch Light is a Missouri beer, not Colorado. Still a good video.
It’s not pronounced key-rknee it’s pronounced as Car-knee, but don’t worry even some Nebraskans pronounce it wrong😂
Got it! thanks
Found it.
Nice video. Nebraska is in the Great Plains, not the Midwest.
I don't know, I just typed it into google and everything says Nebraska is considered the Midwest. 🤷♂
Fun fact: my uncle built the houses at awarri dunes
And it's pronounced "car-knee" . Great video dudes!
That is a fun fact as well as a fun course! thanks for sharing. I'm terrible at pronuciation please forgive me.
Next time you’re in Kearney, give Meadowlark Hills a try!
Ok! haven't heard of that one.
