I was in Phoenix for the first time. Chillin in a Windstream with my girl. We sat there together, not close, and listening to this song as we came close, she broke down. I knew at that point, once again, Petty was talking to both of us.

This song reminds me of a former GF who was a loner somewhat. I was never able to convince her that I loved her with all my heart through 3 yrs of dating. Her father was a stone cold alcoholic & I think she was sexually abused. She ended up marrying a good friend of mine who told me that he had to chase her around the bedroom for 6 nights of the Honeymoon before she relented to sex on the last night where she screamed her head off during sex like she was being attacked. Poor Girl. They had one child a boy. Some 15 yrs later she called me up out of the blue wanting to meet me for a romp in the hay while still married to him. I turned her down. I guess she was over her fear of sex in a big way. LOL I'm sure that she went out & found someone to sleep with anyway. What she said to me when I ask about my pal was Eddie will always be Eddie & he'll never change. Apparently she wanted some kind of sex that Eddie wasn't into/ maybe anal. Today I would take her up on her offer because I have discovered that anal sex is great & most women want it. Everyone I had anal sex with came back for more & more. Women love it for some reason? I think they like the pain? Probably like child birth from the other end. Because they say Oh God that hurts.fuck it fuck it. Who the hell knows?
