My Wife just told me the news. So, I went in my music room, cued up Take it Easy, plugged in my bass, and played my salute to Randy. The second verse, standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona… Randy’s harmony gives me chills. It’s my favorite part of that song. It makes the song. Thank you Lord, for allowing me to be a spectator of such a great time for music.

The way his song "Try and Love Again", to me- help give Hotel California a complete sound with his soaring vocals on such a beautiful track. Loved his solo stuff too. To quote Randy from his song on the first Eagles album - "Most of Us Our Sad." RIP Randy.🦅

"Take it to the Limit" was never the same after he left and his live backing vocals could not be matched by Schmidt. Hearing the band sing Hotel California live with him in the band was when that band was at it's apex.

Born in ‘59, loved listening to the Eagles growing up. Still my favorite band, and their songs never get old. Only saw them once live during their History of the Eagles tour. It was neat to see Bernie back. And then Glen passed away later that year. And now Randy. Hoping to see them again on their last tour.

His inspirational vocals on Take It To The Limit and other songs helped me as a young musician in the early 1970s to appreciate the Eagles and join bands here in Maine, making hundreds of people happy along the way. RIP soaring Eagle.

Randy Meisner's #1 hit. Written by "Don Henley."
    "Take It To The Limit"
All alone at the end of the evening
When the bright lights have faded to blue
I was thinking 'bout a woman who might have
Loved me and I never knew
You know I've always been a dreamer
    (Spent my life running 'round)
And it's so hard to change
    (Can't seem to settle down)
But the dreams I've seen lately
Keep on turning out and burning out
    And turning out the same
So put me on a highway
    And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time
You can spend all your time making money
You can spend all your love making time
If it all fell to pieces tomorrow
    Would you still be mine?
And when you're looking for your freedom
    (Nobody seems to care)
And you can't find the door
    (Can't find it anywhere)
When there's nothing to believe in
Still you're coming back, you're running back
    You're coming back for more
So put me on a highway
    And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
Take it to the limit one more time
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    One more time
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    Come on and
    Take it to the limit
    One more time
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    You got to
    Take it to the limit
    One more time
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    One more time
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    Come on and
    Take it to the limit
    One more time
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    One more time
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    Take it to the limit
    One more time.

"Try And Love Again" written by Randy for the Hotel California album got my boyfriend and I to make up this year. Yes, I know it's corny, but it actually happened thanks to Randy's amazing lyrics and voice and Glenn expanding those background vocals with that beautiful slide guitar. May they both rest peacefully in that heavenly choir. ❤❤🕊🕊
I'm so glad you mentioned just how young these guys were with all of that fame. Not easy. I'm also glad you mention that Randy talked about singing high and playing bass. It seems like that's a great formula for a band Timothy B. Schmit and Peter Cetera are two who do the same. The bass line for Hotel California is - dare I used the word- underrated

It's incredible that Eagles managed to replace him with Tim Schmit, who while being a different voice and personality brought major league talent to a critical position within the band. Tim paid tribute to Randy on stage during their run at the L.A, Forum in 2018 where Randy was in attendance. I'm sure Tim feels this even more than the rest of us.thank you Randy for five great Eagles records and a legacy for the ages.
