Its actually just the standard B30A petrol 3-liter straight six taken from the Volvo 164 luxury saloon production line and slotted into these military vehicles then fitted with a terrain gearbox and 4x4/6x6 drive.

The military version of B30 is different to the standard engine for 164, different cam trans for instance that is in steel and not in plastic and several other "ajustements" applyed .😊 Nice TGB you got, everything seems to work exept for the heat adjustment. Take good care of it, they are quite rare today.

Very easy and rogh little vagon. That engine is bullet proof. Seems like the water pump is sounding awful. Dont forget to grease all the grease points underneath.
Them front wheels need swapping around, the tread pattern's pointing the wrong way which'll lead to wayward handling in the mud, cos the tread in that direction will push sloppy stuff into the middle of the tyre reducing grip as the chevrons are designed to pump mud, water & snow outwards away from the tyre, physics and engineering y'know... :P
yeah right and consumes so much the reason is because Diesels in Europe were not allowed until they started using emmision control systems such as DPFs EGR Valves SCR systems Adblue etc
I have a question, what are you doing with the cars after making them run? Are you seling them? Are you keeping them? Are you leaving them where you found them?
To not kill camshaft and lifters it's better to give it some oil, in other way volvo's run dry long time. This volvos begine to be expensive and not so common here any longer.
This Volvo model also used as our military vehicle in Malaysia during the 1980 and 90 if I not mistaken.But our model is C304 and has been replaced with our own made truck called hicom handalan 2.Very rare to see this model nowadays.Edit:Anyways did you buy this Flexiny and sorry for my bad English.
Actually these Volvo's were used for Operation Gonzales Series back starting in mid to end 70's. They were no longer in service in the 90's. Used mainly as the first line transport for Malaysian Army Infantry mainly The Royal Malay Regiment and The Royal Ranger Regiment. As I was being told these Volvo's were very robust and reliable. Some of them were even attacked or ambushed by communist terrorist at that time.

I didn’t buy it, helped to get this thing running it. They abandoned it because of stuck clutch.
