Having worked in a homeware retail store, I can say when i worked there if a customer brought something back to return it we do not test the item. We just put the yellow sticker on it and write what we were told was wrong with it and it goes in the back on the returns shelf. So your right when you say it isn't checked. All we do is check its in the box. At least that's what happened in the store i worked in a couple of years ago. Great video !
“I’ll just superglue this” “Oh, I’ll superglue this” “Ahh there’s nothing superglue can’t do” “I’ll just use superglue” “All it needs is superglue and gold glitter”
Taz I haven’t heard about the Japanese glue method you mentioned in the video but I wouldn’t recommend using glue to hold a candle together as when the candle burns the hot oil could cause the glue to melt and eventually split back open and I wouldn’t want you to get burnt by the oil or have any marks on your floor/walls or furniture seen as you’re in a rented apartment!💕💕
@@roshn.i yes you’re right sorry I’ve just gone back to the video and realised she said Japanese, and okay that makes sense. I was just worried of her getting burnt or losing her deposit🥺
You're supposed to put the bed heater thing (16:45) in between the mattress and the mattress cover, it warms up in like 5-10 minutes, it's an amazing product for cold winters! With the covers on top of it, it traps all the heat
Heated blankets can take at least a good 5 mins to heat up Taz. You're best switching it on about 30 mins before you go to bed and then turn it off as you don't want to get over heated overnight xxx
You are the only person on the whole of UA-cam ( from what I have seen) who has been absolutely honest about what they received as everyone else seems to get perfect working items xx
The candles in broken vessels can be plopped in either old empty candles or in ceramic bowls! And taller ones can be burned as normal pillar candles, I took home so many candles with broken glass and burned them.
You're not actually going to throw away the things you don't want, that are perfectly good, right??? I've been working in retail for years now. Most likely those beds were one time uses. Those guys had guests over, needed the bed for a night or two and then sent them back as "faulty". Most retailers won't check on the stuff and will just sent it back.
The Japanese don't use gold glue, they glue it normally and go over with gold paint over the cracks. It's called wabi sabi - seeing beauty in imperfections
I've been to MartHill! I discovered it not long after having a baby so went to pick up one of their baby pallets - it was really useful to be able to walk around and have a sneak peak in the pallets (not sure if they're letting people in since covid?), but I got a pallet with a load of stuff that I wanted to keep and then fixed up, cleaned up and sold everything else that I could. Made my money back even though I kept a load of stuff and did this with 3 pallets!
This is a really useful info, had no idea you can actually go and check the place out. I don't live in the UK, but I might just schedule a visit next time I come over
Used to be a customer service manager for Sainsbury's. Can confirm we don't test everything. I suggest using the heater blanket between the mattress and the bed sheets (like the ones under you when you sleep) we used to used them like that when we lived in bristol!!
I used to buy heated blankets as gifts, everyone is skeptical but everyone falls in love with it. Put it on high for 10mins before bed but turn it off when you get in and it's very welcoming and the cooling down to your body temperature will help you drop off. Alternatively keep it on low/medium to sleep for really cold nights. It's especially good in climates where the houses are built to stay cool in summer, with no real need for carpets and central heating or much internal insulation. In the winter, ways to stay snug without heating the whole space become very nice. They use a very low amount of power.
Hey Taz, I just discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and I want to say that your videos have been an enormous comfort to me. I'm an American currently on an exchange for a semester in the UK, and during the era of COVID and harsh lockdowns here, it's been a really difficult adjustment for me. A lot more than I expected - there are some days I feel quite depressed and don't want to get out of bed. Let's just say it's not the experience I was hoping for with something like studying abroad! It's my first time leaving the country as well, to boot, and entirely on my own - so it's been quite the journey for me. But honestly, your upbeat, optimistic, positive attitude is so infectious. I just watched your video where you traveled abroad to Malaga on your own, and I identified so well with so many of the rocky emotions you were feeling - but you still made the best of your time there and got a lot out of it, too. It's honestly really inspiring to me, and it makes me want to get out even more and have as great a time that I can in the last couple of months that I'm here! So I just wanted to say thanks for your videos and for being you Taz.
You could donate the items your not keeping and aren't broken to a shelter so when people leave they could have stuff. Or find an agency that need household items. Love watching your videos. You have such a great vibe
I worked at Argos for a long time, a LOT of the items are returned due to the customers not needing them anymore, changing their minds, getting the “worth” out of their product, deliberately breaking them, or buying it for a certain purpose; like fans for summer or heaters for winter. Part of the job was abuse from customers and general hostility, so a lot of these items probably weren’t actually broken the customers just found ways around it! Some shops were also more lenient than others, but most returns in the U.K. go to the same place, that’s why there’s a general mixture of broken and non broken items
I work at Target in guest services and returns. And when people return stuff they just say what’s wrong and we defect them. Because we can’t put it back out. Especially if it’s open. No questions asked.
@@AlishaAziz Target don’t give no fucks. Lol. And people get over too. Someone tried to return an empty box. I went to open it and he freaked out and ran. We have to open electronics.
The "gate thing" you dumped was a baby gate or a pet gate. I have three of them that I use to corral my dogs to the dining room after they've been playing in the rain in my backyard.
I use that silent night heated blankets and you need to cover them for the heat to stay in, so put it under your bed sheet or duvet, making sure the controls and the connection point on the blanket are not covered up!!! amazing for a chilly evening

Not suprised that the airbeds are good. I imagine people are returning them because they only need a spare bed for a night or two then get their money back
9:23 i think it’s says “not done” as if the product hasn’t been fully finished, i think they wrote that down there because it’s missing that tiny arrow that moves around the clock is missing

As someone that works in retail, I can say that most of the time when someone brings in a 'faulty' item for return we don't usually have the means to test the fault immediately and tend to just return things based on what a customer has said. Then a lot of the time managers don't bother to test the faults later on and they just get marked down even though they're perfectly fine.

Hey Taz, Hope you’re okay. I recently found your channel and really enjoy watching all your videos (wish I had found you sooner!) In fact, every chance I get in my free time I watch a number of your videos and find you so funny, endearing, down to earth and such a joy to watch. I always look forward to the next exciting (and hilarious 😂) chapter in your life! You make a lot of people happy - including me 😊. This is the first time I’ve commented on one of your videos actually. I just wanted to check in on you and make sure you’re alright. I’ve nearly watched all your past videos (and also on your other channel too where I thoroughly enjoy your discussions) and I came across one video of yours where you were not okay and was explaining what you were going through. It broke my heart to see you crying like that and I understand that there are times where you go through stuff that we don’t see and you try to display the best version of yourself in front of the camera, when in reality you’re not feeling that great inside.. Please know that you are not alone, and you don’t have to pressure yourself to please anyone. If you don’t feel like making videos or being online at the moment, it’s okay. Focus on You and what’s important to you in your life right now. We do miss you - it may seem a bit strange to say that when we’ve never met, but it feels like you’re a friend and I do care about you. After all, you have cheered me up many times, motivated me and made me feel more positive and happy through your videos. You make a positive difference in your own special way and we adore you! You’re always telling us to know that we matter, and I hope you know that YOU matter to us as well 🌞🌻 You may just be busy with other things, but when you do return, we’ll be here ☺️ Take good care of yourself♥️ Looking forward to your next adventure and seeing you again 🤗 Xxxxxxx

Could you take the frames from the broken mirrors (take the broken mirror out) and hang them in some kind of gallery wall way with the not completely broken one? Could look fun on a wall, or even put like one photo or thing kind of “floating” inside? I just saw a bit of fun artsy potential
for the cracked mirrors, just glue them back, frost them and they make perfect decorative trays, the kind that people leave on tables and tufted puffs.
How about you take the mirror and put it on one of the two other mirror frames to get one fully working one ? Would look nice in the other frames if it fits obviously
electric blankets are a must here in New Zealand, especially in the cold winters. Hoping into your warm bed every night, is pure magic! it does take 30 minutes to fully heat up, but it is worth it on those freezing nights. Just a handy dandy tip, you place it under your fitted sheet on your mattress and lie on top of it.
for the broken candle holder! in my experience, two part epoxy glue with very fine gold powder mixed in is the best way to fix pottery, you can even get kits for it! just don't stick it in the dishwasher after.
The thing Taz was saying about some people claiming faulty product when they really just want a refund is absolutely true, to the point that my aunt had someone recommend that she sort of exploit that loophole. She had bought a light-up tree years ago and not used it once for like, 3 years. It completely died in a couple of months (my family is one with an all-seasons tree that gets redecorated every major holiday), so she went to the store she purchased it at, where an employee told her the best course of action for her was to buy a new, similar tree, take it home, put the old broken tree in the box and return it as broken for a refund.
Okay but just realised how she started getting good stuffs just after she opened that package which said "today is your day"

from working in retail, some things aren’t sold on because the packaging is broken etc not the actual product itself which is brill for you!
Also a lot of customers don't want to admit they changed their mind so they just say that it's broken. I've processed so many "damaged" returns that have absolutely nothing wrong with them.

“All it needs is superglue and gold glitter”
*never gets to actually doing any of it *
Taz I haven’t heard about the Japanese glue method you mentioned in the video but I wouldn’t recommend using glue to hold a candle together as when the candle burns the hot oil could cause the glue to melt and eventually split back open and I wouldn’t want you to get burnt by the oil or have any marks on your floor/walls or furniture seen as you’re in a rented apartment!💕💕
@@sabz7473 it's called kintsugi. it's Japanese and you're meant to use real gold or epoxy resin as a glue anyway so dw

You're supposed to put the bed heater thing (16:45) in between the mattress and the mattress cover, it warms up in like 5-10 minutes, it's an amazing product for cold winters! With the covers on top of it, it traps all the heat
I’m sure she knows what it is
Heated blankets can take at least a good 5 mins to heat up Taz. You're best switching it on about 30 mins before you go to bed and then turn it off as you don't want to get over heated overnight xxx
You are the only person on the whole of UA-cam ( from what I have seen) who has been absolutely honest about what they received as everyone else seems to get perfect working items xx
Everyone loves taz. She's like everyone's cute little bunny and girl adventurer all wrapped in one. Watching a taz video is like a bucket of hugs
The candles in broken vessels can be plopped in either old empty candles or in ceramic bowls! And taller ones can be burned as normal pillar candles, I took home so many candles with broken glass and burned them.
You're not actually going to throw away the things you don't want, that are perfectly good, right??? Like the pet/kid gate, all the lampshades, a secondhand store would love those, and you wouldn't be sending perfectly good stuff to landfill! Loves the video, but it stresses me out the whole time thinking about the waste 🥺❤️
You get stressed out pretty easily, don't you ?

Imagine after a breakup you get a yellow sticker and your ex gets to add a “fault” 😂
Looool😂😂😂😂
Oh my gosh💀💀
that's alright because then you'll meet a taz who'll realize that just because it says it's broken, doesn't mean that it is.
I always thought it was actual gold that they used.
@@kimbarbeaureads maybe, it would be amazing if they do
Traditionally they used actual gold to seal the cracks. Now they probably use glue then paint over it with gold paint.
Also called kintsugi, when specifically referring to fixing broken pottery with gold
Not relevant but I named my animal crossing island Wabi-Sabi lol
We look for anything that's obviously broken (like a cracked mirror) but other than that, we take the customers word for it as long as they have a receipt and it's in warranty. It gets one of those stickers slapped on and sent to the depot.
People probably buy those beds when guests are in town and return them when the guests leave. They are bulky to store.
yep, my grandma does that lmfao

@@silvergold1602 how come you are blocked?
Good for some but in reality it's better for your body to sleep in a cool room / bed
So I just wanted to say thanks for your videos and for being you Taz.
hey taz!! you can donate all of the household items you don’t want to keep to different charity shops! it could really help someone out :)
You could donate the items your not keeping and aren't broken to a shelter so when people leave they could have stuff. Or find an agency that need household items. Love watching your videos. You have such a great vibe
Could you possibly make a video of you glue-ing the pots/candleholders together?
I worked at Argos for a long time, a LOT of the items are returned due to the customers not needing them anymore, changing their minds, getting the “worth” out of their product, deliberately breaking them, or buying it for a certain purpose; like fans for summer or heaters for winter. Part of the job was abuse from customers and general hostility, so a lot of these items probably weren’t actually broken the customers just found ways around it! Some shops were also more lenient than others, but most returns in the U.K. go to the same place, that’s why there’s a general mixture of broken and non broken items
If the mirrors are the same size, you could potentially take the nicer frame and put the not broken mirror inside of it? 🤷♀️
Thats exactly what i was thinking!
It's a really good idea...but if I had to choose I would rather keep the broken mirror and change it than keeping the broken frame
I work at Target in guest services and returns. And when people return stuff they just say what’s wrong and we defect them. Because we can’t put it back out. Especially if it’s open. No questions asked.
I work at Primark and they have to show us the fault exactly for us to take it back as a faulty item
@@AlishaAziz Target don’t give no fucks. Lol. And people get over too. Someone tried to return an empty box. I went to open it and he freaked out and ran. We have to open electronics.
Taz saying "never thought I'd be able to relate to a mirror" made my brain hurt😂😂😂
Bruv why not resell some of the things for hella cheap, earn some money and have it not go to a landfill

Hey Taz,
Hope you’re okay.
I recently found your channel and really enjoy watching all your videos (wish I had found you sooner!)
In fact, every chance I get in my free time I watch a number of your videos and find you so funny, endearing, down to earth and such a joy to watch.
You’re always telling us to know that we matter, and I hope you know that YOU matter to us as well 🌞🌻
You may just be busy with other things, but when you do return, we’ll be here ☺️
Take good care of yourself♥️
Looking forward to your next adventure and seeing you again 🤗

The best purchase Taz has ever made:
*her bookshelf* 😂
Would love to see a follow up fix things video. There is some really go repair schools in London that help people fix their items rather then throw them away. The library of things is a good example!
Could you take the frames from the broken mirrors (take the broken mirror out) and hang them in some kind of gallery wall way with the not completely broken one? Could look fun on a wall, or even put like one photo or thing kind of “floating” inside? I just saw a bit of fun artsy potential
Take a shot every time Taz says “OH it doeszz werkkkk”

With heated blankets you put them under your duvet and it warms it up, but it takes a while to heat up!
for the cracked mirrors, just glue them back, frost them and they make perfect decorative trays, the kind that people leave on tables and tufted puffs.
Cool Idea!

electric blankets are a must here in New Zealand, especially in the cold winters. Hoping into your warm bed every night, is pure magic! it does take 30 minutes to fully heat up, but it is worth it on those freezing nights. Just a handy dandy tip, you place it under your fitted sheet on your mattress and lie on top of it.

Where is Taz? This was video her last and it has been three weeks old. I hope she's okay.
for the broken candle holder! in my experience, two part epoxy glue with very fine gold powder mixed in is the best way to fix pottery, you can even get kits for it! just don't stick it in the dishwasher after.
This is like Christmas, Boxing Day and Birthday rolled into one.
