Let me know, what are your favorite ways to spend American Express points? Here's some ideas if you're unsure: Japan: ua-cam.com/video/8WeemICcB_U/v-deo.htmlsi=J0gITc_MSDjp0VUG New Zealand: ua-cam.com/video/mjdFKYiNxiU/v-deo.htmlsi=5-Tcb9fB70bN9AJl
Thank you for commenting! I was curious and I just searched "American Express Platinum" on google in a private window in safari and clicked the first link and it showed me an elevated offer 125k after $8000 spend in 6 months. I'd attach a screenshot if I could. So may be worth refreshing and trying your luck from time to time. There was once an AMEX Business Gold offer for 130k points a year ago or so and I spent probably at least 30min to hour of refreshing an incognito/private browser before finding it.
@@kaina732 oh yeah, definitely do that, don’t feel rushed to get it either. The AMEX SUBs come and go all the time. Pacing yourself is important so you don’t get put into AMEX pop up jail.
The Platinum does cover a lot of the best perks offered by the Gold and Green, the main argument for still getting the Gold and Green is for the sign-up bonus which you can only get if you have NOT received the Platinum card already. And some of the earning multipliers are more beneficial to some people than the platinum, like the 4x on Dining and Grocery for the Gold card
Correction. You can't get the welcome bonus on one of those cards if you've had it in the past. You can always get the card again (unless you did something to piss off the R A T ).
It's not a hard rule. That's just a commonly recommended practice to space out applications and the one I personally use. The more frequently you apply, the more of a liability you may appear to the bank and open yourself up to denials. You could try to apply sooner and very well get approved I just wouldn't make it a habit. I think the soonest I've applied for a card back-to-back was around 45 days.
@@NurseMichaelTravels I see that makes sense. Even if it is an upgrade? Given that it’s still the same company and that you’re technically just buying a more expensive product of theirs. Another question I have is what sort of credit score do you need for platinum- not that I’m worried, I’m just surprised they didn’t give me the spending limit I asked for on my green card.
@@cutletbread oh my bad, I misunderstood you. But upgrading from the Green to the Gold would make you ineligible for the AMEX Gold signup bonus 😅. The recommendation would be to apply to the Gold card separately so you can get the sign up bonus then cancel (or keep) the green card. AMEX is really finicky/really gets their money’s worth from you. The credit score requirement for the platinum isn’t really higher than other premium cards. Various sources read as low as 680 and around 700-720 range. To answer the original question, shouldn’t matter the timing of the upgrade otherwise but the rep may or may not let you, you’d have to be eligible for it
@@NurseMichaelTravels awesome! Thanks so much for the information! Here in Europe, I see the option for an upgrade bonus from green to platinum. I’m seriously considering applying for it, but don’t want to be denied. I’ve only had my green now for 2 weeks and was wondering if I should wait or not. I definitely want the platinum and see the need for it.

I haven't gotten into the AMEX world yet, but glad I watched this video first before I did! Thanks for the tips!
You're welcome! AMEX is kind of a tricky credit card points program, but the large transfer bonuses they offer make it a little more palatable
I have the AmEx Gold and AmEx Blue Business Plus. I am waiting for the Platinum to have a sub over 100,000.

@@NurseMichaelTravels Thanks for the tip on the Platinum. I plan to get that in a few months as I need to meet the SUB for the CSP first.

Platinum should give you everything and all the same benefits of the Gold and Green

You’re 100% correct. I worded it wrong once or twice. Thank you.
Why do you recommend waiting 3 months before levelling up? I just got my green card a few days ago and want to upgrade sooner.
