Gave me a lot of inspiration for booking award flights with this video! I still think it's crazy that people in the military can do this hobby for free without having to worry about annual fees!!
Have you ever been to war buddy or done anything for your country? Better watch your mouth and keep collecting your little hobby cards
@martinaltmann1658 I have done a lot for my country and don't think you know what you are talking about
@@La.aviator it’s simple buddy, if you’ve never served or put your life on the line for your country then don’t hate on the little perks that military members get and worry about your own damn business. End of story
@@martinaltmann1658ask if you did shit lol
@martinaltmann1658 I am active duty in the air force you manchild 🤣. I am not hating on the perks at all because I am using them myself. Please grow tf up and stop acting like you know everything because quite frankly it is embarrassing 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Thank you so much for the Cent Per Point equation!!! Makes deciding whether to use my points for purchases will be cost effective or not!!!!
Great video. Thanks!!
Great video. Can you make a video on how you hunt deals and find out how many points a flight takes.
This is the video that I need. Thanks so much for making this and taking all the work out for us. Excellent video!!
I used 150k points to get a $1500 iMac two years ago. Could have used the points for a business class ticket or a couple of fancy hotel nights. I use the iMac almost daily and it's a great computer, I got great value out of it. Flying once business would have been great for a few hours and a great memory but that would have been that. I think you have to look at redemptions on a basis of what is personally valuable to you as well, not necessarily just the cents per point.
That’s still dumb unless you can’t afford $1500 to buy a computer….the points don’t expire. The smart way is to pay $1500 for the computer then use the 150k points for a business class round trip to extract max value. The difference between cattle class vs business is 4-6k usd…do the math
@@onlythebest3311 I can easily afford the 1500.. you missed my point. They were just sitting in my account for over a year. I wasn’t planning any trips to Europe any time soon. But I sure got the value of using the computer.. either way my point is also looking at it from a personal value perspective. But you are correct as well I’m not denying that.
@@onlythebest3311 I feel like everyone has a different way of valuing things though. Like for me using airline points has no value to me because as an airline employee, first class international would cost me less than $100 round trip( The real value without all those markup). So that computer might be more valuable for him.
The important thing is you're happy with your choice. For me, I used to value electronic goods more than experiences, but as I get older I value experiences shared with my loved ones way more than things.
You’re all wrong lol. Transfer the points to a Charles Schwab brokerage account and it’s 1.2 and you can spend it how you’d like. You could buy two computers for the price of the points you’ve used. Or you could have invested the points as money (money doesn’t expire) and booked in cash and gotten MORE points. You’re welcome 😂
Finding a booking with points that offers a good deal ends up costing me more time than saving. For instance, flights from Los Angeles to Japan in premium economy or business class on Air Canada and Virgin Airlines show little to no value, while ANA has all options waitlisted, locking your points indefinitely until confirmation is received, regardless of the date on all those airlines. No first-class options seem to be available on any airline. Many of these types of videos gloss over the fact that these redemption methods are not EASY ways to redeem. Let me know if I'm missing something.
You are 100% correct. and good luck trying to book an award flight for a family trip during times like spring break - good luck with that.
Thank you for the info. Much appreciated. Guess you really fly a lot to have knowledge of the overseas carriers and where they fly to get the best deal. Is there an easy way to learn how to use the overseas carriers other than logging into each airline website?
Great presentation, I learned so much
Hey John can you make a video on how charge cards help your credit score? Thanks for all the great info!
Great intel and well presented. Can I use the same formula for Amex platinum in Canada?
Thanks to your videos, I’m going to Florida and Canada (roundtrip) this year only spending about $150 😊
Excellent video!
While these redemptions are tough to search for and find, the end value is so worth it. My first Amex points redemption was for 4 nights at a Choice hotel in Maui. Not your typical transfer partner compared to Hyatt or airlines, but the room had a king bed in a separate bedroom, full kitchen, living room area and even a small patio, and it was situated right across the street from the beach in Kihei. It normally would've cost $1,700 for the 4 nights including daily resort fees. I was able to redeem the 4 nights for just 48K points and $200 in resort fees. Doing the math, I got 3.125 cents per point, no way was I going to pass that up.
The process is meticulous but you make it sound so easy 😂
Great informative review
Hi John, I appreciate your tips on this matter for points transfer. You mentioned for ANA to Japan, and Virgin Airlines, which other airlines do you recommend for Vietnam, please. And it’s only good now or also next year. Please help
Its still confusing how to find those deals do hou check each airline website separately, are you flexible on time , how to transfer points to those airlines?
I am planning a trip to Japan, so I definitely want to learn how to transfer Am Ex points. I heard it's a little tricky. First class would be awesome !!!
John Liang, I subscribed because your videos are super cool!
Hi John, can you do a best value for round trip to India from US next time?
Does the BUILT credit card also have the same or more fantastic partners for transferring points?
Superlative presentation!
OMG amazing video. I’m planning on traveling to Japan 2025. Your video was perfect on how to do it. Thank you 🙏 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks
Transfer partners starts at 10:27
your numbers seem cold, they are shaking!
I love to transfer points to ANA too💪
Can you share your excel sheet?
Should point out that ANA miles take a few days to actually transfer over. So you should have plans to book an ANA flight sometime soon if you transfer.
BUT you can book ANA flights with Virgin Atlantic, for not much more.
Editorial note: lead with your strongest point not the lame points. I’m not going to invest time in the video if it’s possible all the info is about lame redemptions. Should have presented items in reverse order.
it's to ensure you stay till the end to watch the video, which means more $$ for content creators
You should compare with the lowest cash price of the same day man! not cool not cool. Paying cash gives you miles and status points, which is very valuable and doesn’t come with reception bookings.
Virgin offer is gone expired 29may
How do you have more than 6 million American Express points?! Any tips?
you the type of dude to have tmobile (:
I got my Amex blue cash everyday credit card, can I also transfer my points to airline partners?🤔🤔🤔
The Blue Cash Everyday is a cash back card only. The cards that earn points would be cards like the Green, Gold, and Platinum
You only get statement credits. Money. No points.
Thank you, got it 🙏
Can I combine Amex points with Bilt points then use it on a transfer airline?
Unfortunately you can't combing Bilt and Amex points. But if there are airline or hotel partners they share you can consolidate in that way, hope this helps!
Thanks for the tip….Planning a trip to Bali and wanted to fly ANA….Singlehandedly, Amex points or bilt points may not be enough to book but after taking your tip, found out Emirates and aeroplan are shared by both Amex and bilt. Also found out aeroplan is partnered with ANA. How about using Aeroplan to allow me to fly ANA?
John, have you ever seen any promotions from Amex for transferring to hotel partners? I'm sitting on 150k amex points that I'd like to use for hotels but unsure if I should just transfer to hilton or wait for a promotion if it ever comes up.
if the transfer rate. Is 1: 2.6 or 2.8 then it is ok but if just 1:2 then better wait
Amazing video!!! Thank you!!! How is the process to buy tickets in Delta with Virgin Atlantic? First is creating account in Virgin… Second transfer points… How buy the tickets in Delta with Virgin A Miles? What website or app? Can you help please 🙏
The shaking graphics has made me soooo nauseous 🤢
American Express sucks
I would love to go Japan but my dreams end up in Target
