Rich conversation, really enjoyed it. Will be buying this book! Also Kushal, thanks for keeping in mind you have a diaspora audience and addressing us from time to time. We appreciate it.
Excellent discussion Kushal. And congratulations to Hondol Sengupta on his latest books. From what I gathered from the discussion, Hindol has managed to touch upon and articulate several key points. A place for Gandhi always being one of them, the point of convergence and divergence between Nehru and Savarkar, and the concluding point about political Hindutva now having to deliver the goods in contemporary times measured on contemporary metrics. That last one was so Hindu. I think I will be adding the book to my library. On Gandhi, one additional way of looking would be that he embodied excellence in his chosen version of Hinduism in a way no one else favouring one or other facets of Hinduism did not manifest. Hence he gathered the cult following. One way of looking at that phenomenon.
Hey Kushal. I've been following your podcasts for a while now, they've always been so interesting but today's podcast made me think of the same arguments as Hindol thrice, 1. When you asked when did the concept of Hindu identity of India had to be defined because before Indira Gandhi we all knew all this is Sanatani India, until they started changing the narrative so much that we had to redefine it. 2 &3 the idiocracy of Guha and RR Ranjan. Looking forward to more such guests as Hindol. You guys are doing a great job.
Those who say, 'oh, I am not in to politics' have no clue they are already neck deep in it. Politics = Policy = Police are just some of the verbal semantics that we all get sucked in to, using this foreign language. There's politics even within our families = Parents, siblings, relatives, neighbors & everyone out there. Sanatana Dharma is every bit political as it is nature. Nature itself is political & biased.
why do we need to fret about not being able to go back in time and talk to Shivaji, when his actions and words(written and verbal) are documented and their impact is all very clear. He was a Hindu civilizationalist who was driven by the ideals of dharma, by the stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata etc. The great saint of his times and his guru, Samarth Ramdas used to call him "Shriman yogi" and used to compare him to maryada purshottam Ram.
Indian civilization is dharmic civilization, and same goes for pakistan too. They tried and denied their dharmic root and look at them. Besides Pakistan becoming a failed state ,the identity crisis in pakistan is so crazy. They cant accept the dharmic roots while cant get acceptance in arab and turkic or persi culture. While we in india are getting more and more confidence in our dhramic roots.❤❤❤
Why don't you have topics on Christianity & ISLAM also...do watch your podcast, agree some , disagree some ...but appreciate the fact that youth of our country is taking up controversial topics & debating them

Welfarism not by keeping people deprived of opportunities for creating wealth but by recognizing that not everybody are inclined towards wealth.
