Hickok45 videos are filmed on my own private shooting range and property by trained professionals for educational and entertainment purposes only, with emphasis on firearms safety and responsible gun ownership. We are NOT in the business of selling firearms or performing modifications on them. Do not attempt to copy at home anything you see in our videos. Firearms can be extremely dangerous if not used safely.
Not sure about the carrying but sure wouldn't mind owning a piece of history though.
I own one replica air pistol . Functions like the Luger with toggle cycling and picking up another BB from the magazine. It's very well made. Check it out.
The cocking mechanism is just amazing and the machining and workmanship is superb. German style most iconic.
That bump fire sound at 1:35. Awesome.
My dad brought one back from the second world war, only to have it destroyed in a house fire. He was with the 173 field artillery unit of the first army division, and he he beached at Utah Beach in mid July 1944.
You don't fool me one bit hickok sometimes you miss on purpose just so we don't feel bad
My dad's Luger was the pistol I learned on. Very accurate and comfortable shooting gun.
Such an iconic firearm. That looks like a very nice example you have there
beautiful piece!!! thank you so much for showing it hickok!!
The Luger has been on my wish list for most of my 68 years. I have, somehow ended up with a box of 9mm Luger ammo tho. 🤷♂️
Nice piece of history.
It’s a beautiful work of art… but I’d find another to dedicate to carry. 👍🏻
Of course
Beautiful gun but the only Luger P08 I've ever shot was a jammamatic. And I've heard from more than one source that this is not uncommon. The P08 has a reputation for ammunition sensitivity.
Why not. For me the main downside are the sights
One of the best pistols ever made.
Thank you.
It's better than a long pointy stick, and heavier, too.
The round, Yes. The pistol No, as I have smaller and larger capacity pistols now. I would however love to have one for my collection 🙂
Yabba-dabba-do. I'd carry one and you would too...
In 1962 I had an adult cousin that had one and we went out and fired it. I was 13. At that time in a gun magazine some dealer was selling them for $36 ! I wanted one so badly but for some strange reason my father could not see any upside for buying a 13 yr old a pistol. He wasn’t anti gun-He bought me a .410 and later on a 12 gauge 870. But to this day I wish I had a $36 dollar P08 in my safe.
870 but to this day I wish I had the P08 in my safe.
you totally can carry that i i would if i owned one
I would not carry one, but I definitely would love to own one. I never have really sought one. In my current economy, no, I will not go find one.
When I was in the Army in the 70's these were in every pawn shop near bases. They even had long barreled ones with wood holsters that converted into a stock. They looked cool but I never had the urge to buy one.
I never have fired one,I’ve never even held one. They are pretty.,I have carried a P35 for many years, that’s a Browning Hi Power for those that don’t know.
I own two WW2 Lugers and many 1911’s but no Browning High powers. It’s on the list though.
I have 5 Hi Powers. All are superb in every way.Believe it or not,the one that shoots the best, and has the best trigger and accuracy is a Charles Daly HP.All are unaltered and original condition except for the Craig Spegal grips I put on them.Spegal grips are my favorite.
Long Live Hickok45
Yep!
If it's all I have, sure.
The best lubricant for Lugers is Lugubrious. (Yes, I'm kidding.)
I wouldn't dismiss CARRYING one.
Perhaps more popular in England, there was a television series called "The Professionals" (with the mythical department CI5).
Of "Bodie and Doyle", the Luger P08 was Doyle's daily carry weapon.
Doyle carried a p38 then a hipower.
Bodie had a smith in 357
Ray Doyle definitely carried the Walther.
Soda Pop?!
Absolutely, if it's all I had.
Pick up some Mec-Gar new production mags. They’re great.
It's always great to see someone just having fun with their gun, my country denies us such fun which gets harder to find as you age and your options reduce.
If that was the last of my collection I would carry it . I love the p08 luger
It would be nifty if a firearms manufacturer would start making these.
In Germany, 1980, the "Kontrol" officer on my train had a P08 on his belt. I thought it was anachronistic, but, what do I know?
Strictly Officer sidearm.
I have the Stoeger reproduction. Is the mag as hard to load as mine? I need some massive thumb power to load it.
I would carry it if was sa da like my 1944 p38 which I do carry very reliable pistol
Never care that without a holster. (stuffed in your pants or pocket) that extra curl on the trigger is just asking to snag on clothing.
it has a manually safety
I’d carry it🤷🏼♂️
I think Glock copied their grip angle from the Luger.
Carry? no way, plinking yes, not with factory ammo, but with some mild reloads, so it would not break like most pre war P 08 do.
Good morning Greg and John
Yes with the eze. Of knowing the value is redeemable . At all recycling centers. . Pawnshopp.
Would love to have one but for the prices these sell for now days I'll have to pass.
Why not?
Would I carry that? Nope.
No I wouldn’t carry it today because the cost to replace it. Not that it’s not a fine pistol just has the Precious factor so I would own one and take it to the range just not risk police getting it forever.
👍😊
I always wanted a luger lol
Yes, I would carry!!!
Would I carry this today? No. It's a 9mm or 30 luger.
I would love to own one. I wouldn’t carry it above my S&Ws or my Sig P365. Look what happened to Hoobler! If you look him up in IMDB, he’s even holding the one that got him in his picture!
Just buy Megatron in metal, Megatron in stone , Megatron in flying stone would be so cool,
NO, why don’t you just carry a .17 Bee, or a roll of toilet paper??
A sock full of soap?? Bag of marshmallows ?
Appropriate Handgun calibers.
45 ACP
357 Mag
44 Mag
500 S&W mag
460
480
45-70
454.
50 AE
700 Nitro Express with 6 inch barrel
20 mm
😂
A 9mm, why not, but not a Luger. This gun is too wide, is a single action pistol and often jams. What's more, there's no firing pin safety.
I have that model and the Artillery model which are from WW1. They seem to prefer the 124 gr. bullet. And no, I would not carry this bulky weapon.
Do you have the stock/holster for the Artillery model? (IIRC that's the one with the long barrel and wood stock/holster combo?)
@@kentr2424 NO, unfortunately. And the ATF has always been ambiguous about the legality of owning and shooting that combo.
@ I recall reading in one of the surplus firearms magazines that the ATF has OK'd the combo IF the stock is original and not a reproduction......the author of the article is Will Dabbs. He also mentioned the ATF has OK'd Hi-Power and C96 pistols again if the stock is original...
Would be afraid to know just how many have possibly been on the receiving end of that gun, considering the time frame.
If I had no choice. And if my back was against the wall. I would. Most people don't get it. A hit is a hit. If it's from a Glock/Sig/berreta or the Luger. The End results is all the same. Just with less of a round count.
🤘🥸🤘
No, I absolutely would NOT carry a 9mm.
Fun, fun, fun!! At one time, these were Wunderbar pistols, inspiring the likes of Alex Sturm & Bill Ruger to make an awesome and inexpensive .22 semi-auto that looked a lot like the Luger, albeit with no toggle. I wouldn't rule it out as a carry pistol, but it would be a fairly extensive list of preferable choices from today's options before I would choose the PO8 as an EDC.
The Ruger Mk 1 was a copy of the Nambu. Same basic system and breakdown. Ruger considered manufacturing the Nambu in the US after WW2.
@ronaldparvanian6949 Well, all these years I thought it was the Luger. The Nambu?? I have to rethink my life. 😮😂
That's one of my dream guns.
No, I wouldn’t carry that
Who gives a shit why you would carry
